Bought our first house and Sad
My husband and I are only 24 and have been working very hard for a while. Finally we’re able to buy a home of our own. It’s very old cosmetically but updated in terms of what matters. Fucking awesome.
It’s a mobile home in a park and besides mortgage we have to pay lot rent but I honestly wouldn’t trade it for the world. The park has been around for about 50 years at this point with residents who’ve probably been here for that long. I can’t wait to meet our neighbors! I want to make them cookies or something!! Even if they don’t talk to us after I just want them to know we’re nice…..lol
I used to pay over a thousand more than what we’re paying now to rent a place that was a piece of shit. I feel so much better paying money towards something that is our own.
Right now, I feel like mobile homes (depending on the area) are much more affordable than anything else. There are literal apartments in my area for sale 300k+. I’ve been extremely lucky to be able to save enough for a small down payment.
I have been collecting decorations for years, I will try to upload photos of how we’ve decorated so far in the comments if I can! All of my furniture is at the very least 40 years old so it all fits perfectly.
This is what it all comes down to, I am celebrating but sad. Around a month ago was 5 years since my father has been gone. Half a decade. I was already (legally🙄) an adult when everything happened so due to legal reasons was not granted any financial relief during my time of grief. (He had recently retired from a state job at the time; my younger siblings were sent checks and I was not due to my age.) it’s obviously not a huge deal anymore, it is what it is. The point is I’ve been working my ass off before and since. Probably missed time with him due to working. I miss him so much and I hope he would be proud of me. Especially in this day and age, shit is hard. Everything feels unreal and everybody is crazy. I still almost can’t believe it. I’m feeling bittersweet rn. So many new things that I can’t show to the one person I’d love to hear from, but can’t and never will again.
Pictured is Mike’s Mango, Geek bar and a cold slice of Costco pizza. As a bonus I’m listening to Staind.
Yes the stove is operational
This has always been on of my favorite scenes. Drinking, dressing up, and dancing.

burger on my neighbor's doorstep
Way too big too fit in a dumpster. They slapped a free sign on it hoping that someone will haul it away.
Matt's & Whataburger
I flew into Minneapolis and finished the trip in Kansas City for the World Cup quarterfinals. Whenever I travel, I always try to work a few memorable burger spots into the itinerary.
- Matt's Bar
I honestly never thought I'd get to try this one, simply because I never imagined myself visiting Minneapolis. So when I realized I'd be flying in there, Matt's Bar immediately went on the list. Of course I had the Jucy Lucy, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The burger was great, but I think the atmosphere made it even better. It's one of those old school American bars that just feels authentic. Really glad I finally got to experience such an iconic place.
- Whataburger
I've read about Whataburger on this sub for years, but despite a bunch of trips to the US, I'd never been anywhere near one. Since I was in Kansas, I finally got my chance. I ordered the Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger and absolutely loved it. I was surprised by how substantial it was, and one thing I really appreciated was how they build their burgers. Nice and wide instead of trying to stack everything into a skyscraper. People here always talk about that, and I think Whataburger absolutely nails it.
My lack of impulse control is wrecking my life
Just venting really. Two double cheeseburgers for my tea cause I’m too bummed to do much else. I’ve always struggled with impulse control my whole life and was diagnosed with OCD a little while ago (although it’s not what I’m focusing on here but I for sure know they’re linked).
My two main areas I struggle with are money and food. I’ve always been bad with them but it’s really spiralled in the last ten years. I’ve always had debt that’s gone up and down between £5k to £10k, but I had a really bad breakdown about a year ago where I completely lost touch with reality (I’m talking about actual psychological delusions and cusp of psychosis) and to cut a long story short I’m now in around £50k of debt. I’m fortunate that I earn enough that I’m able to cover all my essential bills and repayments, but I still spend frivolously and when I clear a bit of debt I just end up adding it back on. I feel so ashamed and embarrassed. I go through these internal battles with myself when I want to buy something and it’s like two people fighting, but the spender always wins, and then I feel full of regret and sad and in a shame spiral.
I have the same relationship with food and it’s meant that I’m now in the region of about 8 stone overweight.
I feel like nothing I do seems to help. I’ve done years of therapy, and it improved my life in lots of other ways but not this. I just cannot seem to stop myself from doing things I don’t want to do.
I feel like it sounds stupid when I describe it to other people, and in a way it is, because I feel stupid for getting myself into this situation, and feel angry with myself because I can’t seem to stop when you’d think messing up like this would be a deterrent.
Everyone else my age has their own home and car and whatever now, but I am just in a shitty rented apartment surrounded by crap that I’ve wasted my money on.
Caterpillars are the devil.
I was wondering what was going on with this gorilla z auto sprout I thought the leaf had just had a genetic flaw and didn’t form right. Then I walk out today and see 2 new little bite marks and I am like wtf. So I flip up the dying leaf and a little baby caterpillar starts running for the hills. Needless to say the little shit got dunked into diatomaceous earth and then flushed but this is 4th one I have found in my 12 plant grow and they always do so much damage in so little time. I can’t spray the sprout yet but in the past the diatomaceous earth circle has worked but it can’t stop winged insects from laying their eggs on them. Usually I catch them faster but being a sprout I didn’t want to handle it to turn over the leaves if I didn’t have to.
I KNOW people are against outdoor cats....
I live in NW Everett. I was given a cat. She is very much an already outdoor cat.

She keeps bringing me stuff. From my neighbors yards.
