Stole my Camera Bag + Hard Drives

Hi everyone, I lost a black camera bag near Lincoln Center on 7/4 around 1:30PM.

Inside were several important personal/work items, including:

* External hard drives, including an orange LaCie-style drive
* A black Toshiba external hard drive
* Keys
* A work ID badge
* V Mount Battery
*D Tap Cable

These items are extremely important to me, especially the hard drives because they contain film work. I can verify ownership with identifying details.

Stolen Bag + Hard Drives

Was outside doing camera tests with a friend outside of Lincoln center. He was holding my camera and set it down and it got swiped. It’s my fault as well for not noticing but I’m devastated. It has 2 hard drives and a V moi t battery as well as my work ID and keys. Luckily my camera and lens were not in there but I’m genuinely so upset. We tried asking nearby building workers, security, people nearby the scene, and contacts the police. I know that things are unlikely to get found- I’m paranoid about my films getting leaked and my battery getting sold. Is there anything else I can do?

I’ve saved up so much money over the years to buy what was in the bag, and my portfolio is on there. While my final films are backed, the raw files are in the external drives. I’m heartbroken and I am worried about my future.

BMPCC 4K for dance video shoot?

New filmmaker and ex dancer who’s trying to get back into dance. I have been asked if I could shoot a dance film - it’s a 3 day shoot, all outdoors, and in late September. I am only getting paid $250 for 3 days of filming and editing. I mainly applied to edit, but was asked to do both. The pros of this is that it’s indie and has a lot of industry level dancers who- I wanted to connect with as I’m trying to get more into dance.

I’ve made dance films many times, but am usually not the one filming/operating the camera. My background is mainly directing, producing, and editing but I wanted to get more experience with using a camera.

I bought a second hand black magic pocket camera 4K, but it was only the body. I’ve been saving up to buy a lens ($300-400).

My issue is that the batteries don’t last long (30min) and that I would need things to stabilize as well as buying external batteries for this shoot.

I’ve been doing research, a gimbal for BMPCC is around $500 and the external batteries I found are like $70-140 which obviously goes above the amount I’m getting paid for.

Is it worth getting the equipment? I am working with the producer to see if I can get a budget, but it’s very Low and wouldn’t cover everything. I’m also nervous about my experience- I’ve shot wi th BMPCC 4k at school a few times, but once again- very new.

Another alternative was to sell it and buy a Sony A7 III kit. I’ll attach an image with the set up below. This also goes over the amount I’m paying….

I was excited about getting the black magic bc I have experience and plan to make more things, but am nervous and not sure if it’s worth it.

It’s really expensive to live in the city I moved to and while I’m saving up for this, I’m worried about whether it’s worth it or about going bankrupt.
