Questions for those living in Madinah

Assalamu Alikum my dear brothers and sisters,

I hope you are all doing well. For those of you living in Madinah, or really anywhere in Saudi, I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind helping me with:

  1. How do you do it financially? How is the income there? Is it difficult to make a living? I imagine regardless of the difficulty, there is immense blessing in your wealth being in the blessed land next to our beloved Prophet ﷺ .
  2. How do I find a job there? I don't know where to look, or if some sources are reliable or not. Where can I find a good job in my field? I have a business background and make okay money, and I would like to maintain at the very least my current standard of living. However, I am okay with just a little bit of a reduction if it means being in the land of RasulAllah ﷺ .
  3. How do I go about Visas? I am from the USA. What visa do I go for, how do I go about it, and will I be able to bring my wife and kids? If I can bring them there, can my kids go to school there? (I don't have kids yet, just asking for future plans, إن شاء الله).
  4. What're expenses like there? I'm curious how realistic is it for me to go to Makkah at least a few times a year, or if it will be too expensive.
  5. I have so many more questions, but none more are coming to mind. It is Dhul-Hijjah, brothers and sisters, I kindly request, please make dua for me and my family as we are going through a very difficult time in our lives.

Jazaakallahu Khairan

What do you guys do with your vocab after finishing flashcards? (asking for technicals)

Assalamu Alikum my dear brothers and sisters,

I'm currently doing Bayna Yadayk. After you guys get vocab out of each section, or from anything even if it isnt Bayna Yadayk, what do you guys do with them? I normally take them, put them into chatgpt and have it make me a list of them, then put them all onto excel, then export to .csv and upload into a deck on Anki. But aside from this, what else do you guys do? Just wanted to hear everyone's methods on studying vocab. I also use the same vocab to write stories, and other times I try to sit there without looking at them and close my eyes and make sentances from what I remember from the list.

When I say I'm asking for technicals, I mean that I would like to know specifically what you guys do to help you reinforce the vocab. Would love to hear everyone's approaches.

How to send money to family doing Hajj? They are not from Saudi

Assalamu Alikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

hi everyone, how do we send money from the USA to family performing Hajj? I wasn't sure where to post this, so I posted it in here (forgive me if it's the wrong place to post this). My family is currently at Makkah. I'm worried because they only speak Bangla, no english or Arabic. I looked up online and saw that moneygram has a location there and that they can pick it up from there but they only speak Bangla and won't be able to fill out forms or anything. Anybody know the process? Is it just as simple as showing their passports and they can pick it up? Kindly let me know.

I remember seeing they had arabic but a lot of what i found was not in MSA. Would like to know if they had MSA before spending money on it. If not, is there any other resources you guys can recommend for watching shows/movies in MSA?

Thanks everyone!

Assalamu Alikum wa Rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu my brothers and sisters,

I have been studying for about 1 1/2 years now. I've learned so much words and am currently using the Bayna Yadayk Curriculum. But the one thing that trips me up insanely is the multiple types of words that can come out of one word. I understand that there are 10 verb forms and each verb form has multiple patterns like masdars, ism faa'il, etc. but how do you memorize that much? I've gotten to a part of the curriculum where I find myself getting tripped up on so many words that sometimes look like i never seen them before, but then when I do a simple search i end up finding out that its just a verb form or a pattern of a verb form of a verb that I do know. Then, if i work on memorizing the new word, i end up mixing it up with the original word that I originally thought I had down packed.

is there any worksheets, or any techniques, or any specific strategies you used to study these? Any technical advice? I use a spreadsheet to write down all the words I have learned which helps me keep track, but is there any other resource or method I can use to help reinforce the verb forms? Just as an example so you know what I mean: when I first started learning arabic, i was memorizing past and present verbs as separate words, which made it feel impossible to learn a lot of words. but then I learned from a friend that in arab countries in their schools, they teach you to memorize past/present in pairs, and you'll start noticing the rhythm from past to present, and it almost sounds catchy. when I learned that, I started memorizing words as pairs like "أَفَادَ / يُفِيدُ" and i noticed when I read them in that manner, it's become very easy for me to memorize them together.

is there anything I can do for my verb measure/form/pattern problem? I think I heard someone once talk about using a blank template and write out all the verb forms and patterns for multiple words a day, and that way it will stick in your head and become automatic from the repetition of filling it out for many words. not sure if thats a good idea? What do you guys think? I couldn't find any worksheets or anything like that online.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all!
