I am looking to give my plants the best soil mix so they can thrive. I have ingredients at home but need to know how many parts of each ingredient to use. I prefer to bottom water but need the mix to be able pull up the water. If the mix needs to be really chunky and won’t pull water up, I need to know which plants to top water. I use 1/4 tsp pro tekt (mixed well) and then add 1/4 tsp foliage pro (mix well again) per gallon water every watering.

Humidity is 45-60%. Temperature is 77 or higher in summer and 67 in winter. They are off to the side of a larger pot that is directly under a sansi 32w grow bulb, and it runs 13 hours per day slowly increasing to 14 hours per day. Ceiling fan runs on medium all day and if house is open in high at night. I do reverse it in winter so it blows up instead of down.

I do have a grow light in case they need it during the winter. They seem to be doing fine with the light from the window right now.

Clueless and can’t see rhizome

I recently bought a begonia rex fire woman. When it arrived the dirt was everywhere and it didn’t even last a day. They replaced it for me, but the second one has even more dirt everywhere. I tried removing all the cotton that was down in the dirt and ended up repotting it. It looks awful and the leaves are shriveling up. I read up on them because I’ve never had a begonia before and it says there will be a rhizome that will need to sit horizontal right at soil level and not buried. Looks like the tots are supposed to grow down and the leaves will grow up from the rhizome. The one I got has roots growing straight from the bottom of the plant, like my other plants.
Is this a hard plant to keep, or am I just doing something wrong

Question

Reported my peace lily last night and today it is dropping really bad. I honestly don’t remember that it did this the last time I repotted it. My daughter had to help me add it is a large cultivar. It was out of the soil for a while as we were trying to make sure the old soil (I used a different mix) was completely gone. I didn’t want to have different types of soil that would cause issues if not mixed together.
Anyway, is it common for peace lily to be this droopy the following day? Just hoping I didn’t somehow injure it or mess it up.

My Props are Blooming

My daughter was helping me put the props from my Hypoestes back in with the main plant.
Much to my surprise, three out of four vials of props have flowers.
Two have purple flowers and one has white flowers.
If you zoom in on the middle of the first pic you will see a little purple flower.
The purple flowers in second pic is obvious.
Third pic shows it actually has two little white flowers. I think there have been other flowers that I missed because I see what looks like older dried up flowers.
This is so exciting.

Ready for my closeup!

Just had to share how beautiful the leaves on my peace lily are after my daughter wiped all the leaves for me.
The pictures just do it no justice, but she really does look amazing.

And for my closeup… look at my cool double leaf!
It looks like the leaf started to split and then somehow started growing again where it split. It is Not two different stems, but a second leaf growing on top of the first one.

Curling leaves with brown edges

The humidity is around 65-70% and I water when the top several inches are dry. I recently raised my grow light to about 18” since it had been around 13” and I think that’s why it started the leaves curling and browning.
I raised the light the day before yesterday. Do I need to give it a while and see if it improves? It does have two new leaves, one is partly opened. I marked them in the pictures.

I’m not a killer

I bought this tradescantia nanouk online and it was supposed to be delivered today, August 5th. It was actually delivered - to my mailbox - in the 3rd. So it sat in there until my daughter got it for me yesterday evening. I unboxed it and could hardly see the plant for all the dirt on it. I took it out of the bag and tried to get the dirt off the leaves. The dirt was still moist which made it difficult to remove. So I let it sit in my counter overnight thinking I would be able to brush the dirt off today. Now it looks like it shriveled up and completely died. Right now I have it sitting in distilled water to bottom soak and see if that helps. I’m not sure if the mailbox stress was too much, being on the counter overnight (around 65% humidity) or exactly what. I think these are beautiful plants and I don’t want to lose it when I just got it.
Any advice on what to try from here is g welcomed.
Pictures one thru five are me opening it, removing from bag and trying to brush dirt off the leaves. Picture six is what it looks like now while sitting in water to bottom soak.
Please help me save her!

Blue Sue! Where Are You!?

I am in Kentucky and looking for a Tradescantia Blue Sue. I’ve also seen them called Mystic Blue and Mirage.
Anyway, I’m not sure where I can find a reputable source for one.
I don’t want to spend a fortune, and I’m perfectly fine getting a baby plant, but I want to know that I’m getting what I want.
Any ideas or sources y’all know of in my area?

My money trees seem a little droopy

My money trees sit about 12” under barrina tx-s60 led grow light bars. I have two bars that are 13” apart. They have been sitting between the two bars. I moved them directly under one of the bars and now they seem a little droopy.
I bottom water when almost completely dry and let the terracotta pots absorb the water. After they drain I put them back.
I have a small fan running on low and oscillating about 7 feet away and a few feet above the plants while the grow lights are on, 12 hours per day, and off at night. They move slightly when the air passes over them.
Do I need to move them back between the bars or change anything else.

Water more often or change substrate

I have three Petra Crotons. They are in four inch terracotta pots. They are in chunky soil and I added some coco coir and worked down in to help retain some moisture.
It seems like I am constantly watering them. I bottom water and make sure the pots absorb the water. I use mostly rainwater unless I run out and then I use a 50/50 blend of aired-out tap water and distilled water.
Is it normal to have to water every 3-5 days?
When they aren’t drooping they are 12-13” directly under a barrina tx-s60 led grow light bar. I have a small fan on top of my kitchen cabinets about 7 feet away and a few feet higher than the plants. It oscillates during the day and off at night. They gently move when the air passes over. Do I need to change anything it just keep doing what I’m doing?
The pictures show the plants and substrate they are in

Red, White and What!?

I got a red flowing anthurium last year. It actually had the red flowers and everything. This year, it has only had one flower, and another one just coming in, but the flower is white. The new one is coming in white too. Just for reference, you can see the light bar and it is about 14” below it. The light bar is a barrina tx-s60 and the pot is halfway under the end of it. I water when the top 2 inches are dry and the pot feels light. The light is on 12 hours a day.
What is going in that the flowers are white this year instead of red? Am I doing something wrong?
I also go a purple anthurium earlier this year and so far the flowers are coming in purple, even if small. It sits at the other end of the light bar with all of it just beyond the edge of the light bar.

Brand new succulent mom

So I started with just a few succulents that came in a pack and I had no idea what they were.
But I really liked them so I got a bigger pack but still didn’t know what they were. I looked them up online and used a few plant apps (no idea if the identifications are correct or not) and then put into three pots based on their needs.
They seem to be growing and doing well (I lost a couple due to crown rot - I assumed I could just water all over them, you know like nature does… I bottom water now) but there is a sticky white stuff in two of the plants. They are in the same pot, side by side. I’m not sure if it is spider mites or what I’m looking at. The two zoomed in pics are the ones with it on them.
Please advise how to proceed. I didn’t know succulents got spider mites since they like it dry.
