Oakville live chat. Work, services and job opportunities.

Hello everyone!
First of all, I want to sincerely thank this community for being so welcoming. The people here have been incredibly kind, respectful, and supportive, especially when it comes to my project.
ONhere is a free app I built to help people connect locally. Every city has its own live community chat where you can ask questions, get recommendations, share local news, or simply connect with people nearby. You can create your own profile, add friends or clients, send private messages, find or offer local jobs and services, promote your business, and build your reputation through recommendations.
My goal is to make it easier for local communities to connect, support one another, and find trusted people and services nearby.
We’re still growing, but more people are joining every day, and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the support.
If you have a moment, I’d love for you to give ONhere a try and see how useful it can be in everyday life. Your feedback means a lot and helps me continue improving the app for everyone.
It’s completely fre e, and if it’s not for you, you can delete it at any time.
Thank you all again for your kindness and support- it truly means the world to me. ❤️

Im from St.Catharines and created it to help all my neighbours.

I’m the developer of ONhere, a free app created to help people connect locally.
I recently added a new Work & Services feature where you can:
• Let nearby people know you’re looking for work.
• Offer your services (contractor, cleaner, electrician, plumber, handyman, painter, etc.).
• Search for trusted local professionals.
• Build your reputation through recommendations from other users.
Another feature people enjoy is the live local city chat. Every city has its own community chat, and it is only visible to people who are physically within 50 km of that city. It helps connect with nearby residents, ask for recommendations, meet people, and stay updated on what’s happening locally.
The goal isn’t to replace Indeed or LinkedIn. It’s to make it easier for people in the community to find local work opportunities and reliable services nearby.
I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions to improve it. If you decide to try it, let me know what you think. Also
Thanks!

I believe this could be a game changer for connecting people faster locally.

Hey everyone! After receiving a lot of positive feedback, and with the goal of helping the community even more, I wanted to share some new updates about ONhere.

I’ve been improving the app to make it even more useful for connecting people, local services, and the entire Niagara region through local live chats.

For example:
if you’re a plumber, cleaner, contractor, mover, photographer, or offer any kind of service, you can simply share it in your city chat.

Later, when someone needs that service, they can use the chat search feature and type something like:
“cleaner”
and the related posts and people will automatically appear, allowing them to send private messages directly.

The idea is to slowly turn the chats into a real local community database, while also allowing users to create their own network of contacts and services.

Everything is completely free and focused on helping the community connect faster and more easily across the Niagara region through ONhere.

Jobs, services, donations, recommendations, local help…
all in one place with quick and simple communication.

Thanks to the support from people here on Reddit, we’ve already passed 200 users, and I truly believe we’ll reach 1,000 soon as more people discover the idea.

I’m constantly working on improvements, so if you have suggestions or ideas, feel free to share them. I genuinely want to make ONhere something useful in people’s everyday lives.

Also, just to clarify:
ONhere does NOT share users’ locations publicly and does NOT have a map showing users. Location is only used to access nearby local chats.

Thanks everyone 🙌

Hey everyone I would like to share ONhere! people can help each other find work, services, and connections.

Hey everyone! I created an app that I truly believe can make sense for a lot of people and genuinely help communities over time called ONhere (free). Seeing more and more people joining ONhere has shown me that maybe I’m on the right path.

Instead of creating another job board, I created ONhere.

The idea is simple:
an open local live chat where people can post things like:

• “Looking for work, I have experience in construction.”
• “I’m a cleaner looking for clients.”
• “Need a photographer this weekend.”
• “Looking for a bartender/server.”
• “Need help moving furniture.”
• “Any electricians in downtown Toronto?”

Over time, the chat becomes a real local community database.

If someone needs help, workers, recommendations, services, or opportunities, they can simply search inside the chat and find real people nearby posting about exactly that.

No approvals.
No waiting days to join groups.
No complicated networking.

Just real people helping each other in real time.

You also have your own profile with photos and reputation, can add contacts, and even send private messages.

ONhere does not share your live location or display users on a map. Location is only used to give access to local chats.

I truly hope this can help a lot of people.

That’s honestly why I created ONhere.
The app is still new and growing, but the vision is to build a massive local network where people can genuinely connect and help each other ❤️

Your feedback and ideas could genuinely help me improve the app even more

What Would Make ONhere More Useful for Niagara Region?

Hey everyone 👋
I’ve been receiving a lot of positive feedback lately, and honestly seeing ONhere grow from 0 to over 200 local users across Niagara region has been really motivating ❤️
I know this type of platform may not feel relevant to everyone, and I completely respect that. But for others, it can become a new and easier way to build fast local connections and networking through live community chats.

The idea behind ONhere is to create a live local community chat where people can easily connect for things like:
• jobs
• services
• recommendations
• events
• local discussions
• networking
and everyday community support.

One thing I’m also trying to build over time is a searchable local community “database,” where useful posts, services, and recommendations can actually help people later on too.

Since this is still early and growing, I wanted to ask the community:

What features or ideas would make something like this genuinely more useful for Niagara region?

I’d really love honest feedback and suggestions while continuing to improve it 🇨🇦

Hey everyone 👋

I’m honestly just coming back here to say thank you. Having support like this truly means a lot to someone who built something from zero.

Today we passed 200+ local users on ONhere 💬🇨🇦

Maybe for some people this won’t seem useful, and that’s okay. But for others, it might become something important someday.
Finding a lost pet, looking for work, promoting a local service, asking for recommendations, helping someone nearby, or simply connecting with real people around your city.

That’s the whole purpose of ONhere:
bringing local people closer together through real-time local chats.

More people are joining every day ❤️ and honestly, that means the world to me ❤️❤️❤️

ONhere started as just an idea and a dream for creating real local connections across Niagara region, and seeing people actually becoming part of it has been something really special.

Seeing active chats happening in real time genuinely motivates me to keep improving the app every single day.

Thank you so much to everyone giving this small local project a chance 🙏

ONhere only grows because of people like you who believe in it, support it, give feedback, and become part of the journey.

If you ever have questions, ideas, feedback, or need help with anything, feel free to message me anytime ☺️

Welcome to the community

Hey everyone 👋
I know this may not feel relevant to some people, but for others it might be, and that’s completely okay.
If this project ends up helping even one person connect with the right opportunity, service, recommendation, or local community, then honestly all the hard work behind it already feels worth it to me. 🇨🇦💬
I’ve been building a small local project called ONhere focused on real-time nearby chats across Ontario.
Unlike traditional social platforms, the idea is centered around location and live local interaction. People nearby can join city/local chats to talk about things actually happening around them in real time, like traffic, events, recommendations, work, services, local questions, and everyday conversations.
One thing I thought could be useful is that the chats naturally become a searchable local network/database over time.
For example, someone might post that they’re a plumber, contractor, cleaner, landscaper, or offer another local service. Later on, if someone nearby needs that service, they can simply use the search feature to quickly find local people already active in the community instead of searching random groups online.
The goal is to make local networking and everyday connections feel more natural and instant.
I recently started expanding toward the GTA/Mississauga area and wanted honest feedback from locals here.
Do you think something like this could actually be useful in Mississauga?
Still early, but seeing local people join has been really motivating 🇨🇦💬

Hey everyone 👋
I know some might not care, but if this project helps even one person here, all my hard work will have been worth it.
I’ve been a member of this community for a while, and seeing how helpful people are here inspired me to share a project I’ve been building locally: ONhere.
It’s a live chat app focused exclusively on the Niagara Region. The idea is to have a real-time space for recommendations, local events, finding work/services, or even just chatting about what's happening in our cities. You can see and interact with all nearby towns in one place in one click.
The goal: Real people, real local connections 💬
We recently passed 100 local users, which was a huge milestone for me. Being a local dev, seeing people actually using the tool is amazing. My hope is to get more people from the region to give it a chance and help us grow. Honestly, if even one person from this sub joins today, it would mean the world to me.
I’m still improving the app every day, so I’d genuinely love to hear your feedback or ideas on what features would actually be useful for our community.
Built right here🇨🇦
Thanks for the support!

I must have terrible luck 😂
I only drive through Queenston St once in a while… but somehow every single time I choose to go that way, there’s a ship coming through 🚢😂
Not gonna lie, it looks beautiful, but sometimes I end up stuck in over 100 meters of traffic right when the place I needed to go to was about to close 😭😂
At least it turns into a little neighborhood tour lol. Anyone else have this kind of luck? 😅

I’m from Niagara Falls, Ontario and I’ve been working on a Canadian app called ONhere focused on local community chats.

The app is mainly about helping people connect locally for things like recommendations, events, jobs, discussions, and community support without publicly showing someone’s exact location.

I’ve been noticing more people wanting alternatives to the big social platforms, especially Canadian-built ones, so I was curious:

What would make you actually try or keep using a Canadian-made social/community app?

Would love honest feedback from other Canadians while I keep building it.
Thanks for supporting 🇨🇦

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a project for a long time and it’s finally ready. I’m local, and I genuinely believe it could make day-to-day life easier for people here (things like work, services, recommendations, donations, etc.).

I’m not here to sell anything, I’m honestly just looking for real feedback. For those who’ve built something from scratch, you probably know how it feels going from nothing to trying to make it credible. It can feel pretty lonely in the beginning.

I was thinking about simple ways to introduce it to people locally, like offering free coffee and starting conversations, but I got some mixed feedback about that approach. I’m open to learning and doing it the right way.

The project already has 100+ local users, and I really want to keep improving it with honest input from the community.

What’s the best way to share something like this locally without being annoying or breaking community rules?

I’d really appreciate any honest advice 🙏

I’m having an issue with Firebase Cloud Messaging and saving the FCM token to Firestore.

My app asks for notification permission, and when I click “Allow”, everything seems fine, but the FCM token is not being saved to the user document (or subcollection).

What I’ve tried:
- Requesting notification permission
- Initializing Firebase Messaging
- Trying to get the token using getToken()
- Attempting to save it to Firestore (user document / subcollection)

But the token is either:
- Not being generated
- Or not being saved

I’m using FlutterFlow + Firebase.

Has anyone experienced this? Am I missing a step in initialization or permissions?

Any help would be really appreciated 🙏

Thinking about giving away 100 free coffees at a Tim Hortons in Niagara Falls 😊

Which spot would be best, and what day/time would you recommend?

Trying to promote a local project and connect with more people.
Would it work?

Thank you 🙏

Rainy days can kind of ruin plans here, so I’m curious what locals and visitors actually do when it’s pouring in Niagara Falls.

Do you still go out or just stay in?

Any good indoor spots, hidden gems, or underrated things to do?

Trying to find ideas beyond the obvious tourist stuff.

Drop your best tips 👇

Thanks 🙏
