Found this old player at Goodwill. Playback speed is inconsistent. Anyone ever deal with one of these?

I found this Ultronic SC-5 at Goodwill a while back and finally got around to testing it. It works, but it sounds like the tape is speeding up and slowing down randomly. Is this as simple as just figuring out how to open it up and replace the belt, or is there more to these little players then I am expecting? Never really tried to fix any cassette players, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Finding potentiometers replacements for Panasonic SL-H203 turntable

So I found a Panasonic SL-H203 the other day for free, and replaced the belt. It worked, but spun to fast so I went to adjust the speed adjustments knobs inside and one immediately broke (both are very corroded). Seems like an easy enough replacement, but I can't find any information about what values they are. Anyone happen to have a service manual or know where I might be able to start? I don't see any markings on them or the board that are helpful.

When your friends know what you like

A friend messaged me that he had found this sitting around from a while back that he had planned on reselling before learning I collect old Apple stuff. Very lightly used it seems, in the original box with a battery that still holds a charge, and all of the original disks and accessories. Very stoked about it.

I know she isn’t winning any awards, but for $10 I wasn’t going to let her end up in Goodwill’s landfill.

Randomly popped into one of my local Goodwills to look for summer shirts, and found this Symphonic ST413B instead. powers on and shows snow so figured for $10 I’d grab it even if it’s RF only. Tomorrow begins the hunt for a cheap VCR to allow RCA inputs.

Why must Goodwill tempt me on pay day?

I would say a bit over priced as they were all $50, but there was also a Sears ultraportable for $25 over in the office section. I was happy to find a Facit TP1 elsewhere in the store, but had to restrain myself.

Looking for help to test an old Apple MultiScan 15 monitor

So the other day a friend found an old Apple MultiScan 15 monitor at our local e-cycle place and grabbed it knowing I like old Apple stuff. The lights on the control panel come on, but there is no noise or life coming from the tube. I don't have anything that can plug into the DB15 Apple connection to give it a real test, though. While I am guessing that the tube would have made a sign of life (noise powering up or static on the glass), but maybe it doesn't do anything without an input on this model?

Is there a way to test this out without a Mac with the correct connector? I know there are some adapters that go from VGA to DB15 with dip switches, but digging around seemed to find mixed results on if they actually work or not for this. Seems a lot of them were meant to go the other way.

If there isn't then I might do some measuring, as I have a few old Dell LCD monitors that are 4:3 and 15", and I am curious if I could remove the old, broken tube, and replace it with a slightly less old LCD panel and still get some use out of the shell. I'd hate to dub it dead prematurely though, so I seek any advice you guys might have on ways to check it.

First player, a Pioneer CLD-m403, but now elbow deep in trouble. Looking for some help.

So I stumbled on this machine at Goodwill yesterday after passively hunting for a Laserdisc player for a while, and it seemed ok. It turned on, opened and closed, but wouldn't read. Did a quick Google and general consensus for any repairs seemed to be needing a new belt. The player wasn't too expensive, so I figured hey let's give it a go, I have a bunch of spare belts laying around.

Fast forward to today, I open the player to see if I can see what is happening when it tries to play something. Hit eject, hear a noise. Now I have a broken gear in the chain of open/eject gears. One of the gears came out, it looks like maybe the small ring that held it in place cracked so it didn't get held down anymore. The second one seems to be missing teeth, so I am assuming that need full replacing.

Any thoughts or ideas where to find these parts or what else to try? It's my first player, so it makes sense that it would end up being the biggest pain. Hopefully at the end of this though it will be working. If not you'll be seeing me again seeing if anyone needs parts!

Never know what you might find walking into Goodwill. I didn't even know the ones by me took in CRTs still. Now I just need something to use it with.

The same 6 books keep giving "item directory is missing" until I do a manual re-scan

So I have used Audiobookshelf for the last couple years, and it's been great with the exception of I have 6 random books that periodically show up as missing with the error "item directory is missing". If I go and do a manual re-scan on each book then they get found and everything goes fine, until at some point in time later when a library scan is triggered and the same 6 books pop back up with the same error. Anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing that?

It has followed me through sever ABS versions, so I don't think it's a version but. I'm guessing either an issue with the permission on the folder which I haven't been able to figure out, or an issue with sharing the books over my NAS (but then why just these 6).

The only thing I see in the logs is that it reports the item is missing, but the file is still in the same place on my NAS and I don't move it.
