How old is the Chattooga?

Only slightly related to whitewater, but I can’t find my copy of the book with the answer to my question. Yes I did search online, and with shit-free search engines.

I used to work as a raft guide on the Chattooga and we often told tourists it is one of the oldest rivers in the world. This was based off a book that a local river man researched / wrote about the river.

Now that I’m older, I’m curious about exactly how old. Like 200 million years? 300 million? Older than trees? The rings of Saturn? Sharks?!

If anyone is in the area, take a quick gander out of the book? Should be available at the outfitters. Thanks fam.

Request: please consider a Grounded 2 subreddit

Grounded 1 is a wonderful game. I started playing it early in the early access releases. Love it!

Enjoying a similar experience with Grounded 2, watching the game grow and improve over time. But sometimes it’s tough to figure out which game someone is posting about, especially if they don’t use flair.

Also, if I’m searching the subreddit to answer a question about one game, I find myself wading through posts about the other game. With the enshittification of search tools, even filters don’t (or sometimes can’t) sufficiently narrow it down. Even if we required flair, a ton of old posts don’t have any.

With a G2 subreddit, we could let new players to G1 enjoy that game, share stories or ask questions about it. And the same for G2 players as the new game grows. G2 is going to be a huge game in terms of in-game geography and probably popularity. I’m not sure one Grounded subreddit can host both without creating a fair amount of confusion and frustration.

Do parasites of humans that enter through the skin need a small cut?

I’m thinking of parasites that people often pick up from the soil, and that travel from the feet to another part of the body.

Feet in particular tend to be tough, with thick calluses, when you walk around barefoot. That seems like a significant barrier? Can they get through that tough skin, or do they need a foot with a small cut in it?

Will they introduce more species to scan on current map?

So in the early game, there are so many creatures to scan. Even things you might not co spider, like some slime on rocks. It’s awesome.

But after you cross the chasm, there are a lot of “plants” (yes I know there are no plants on this planet) that look like you could scan them, but alas. Blue plant-looking growths, pink shroomy things, even corals. Obviously the new fish species are scannable, but the sedentary life seems half-forgotten.

I know the game is very much under development, so I hope they add more scannable species. It makes the exploration and relaxing aspects of the game more fulfilling. I don’t expect like 6 kinds of slime mold, but the larger and obvious plant-ish life should have something.

Are y’all putting noas in your bases? I don’t want him near my biobed.

Just based on some of the sketchy shenanigans that were going on with previous colonists, I don’t want our favorite AI anywhere near my biobed. I know that if it comes up in a future story line, what happens will happen. But maybe I can hedge by checking in with noa at old bases or the lifepod instead.

My pawn went into labor while getting lovin’… and just kept getting that lovin’

She was screaming and everything. It was… not ok. She proceeded to immediately give birth in the same bed and her fifth child was not healthy. At least I have an excellent hospital?

I was low key hoping she’d give birth to a savant or something but alas.

Approx late 90s or early 2000s. I didn’t have these but keenly remember the noise they made when people were talking back and forth. Peak road trip tech.

Back then texting was still not a thing or very new, phone plans were still expensive. So for a short-range convo it was easier to walkie your talkie.
