I met an Old IIT CS tier-1 graduate in UPSC mains last year. He spent 3 years into the game. This was his take of the situtation of Tier-1 College aspirants:

We deal with more Mental stress than regular Aspirants. Peer-pressure is way too high.

Every 2nd guy is earning like 25 lpa in my college batch.

Unlike BA students where Peers are also in the Exam Preparation game or doing low-key jobs.

Very High expectations from family

Even when Back-Up is considered- cant consider CGL/Banking.

Only legitimate back-up routes become- CAT (IIM-ABC) or just leave everything and go Abroad.

After 3 attempts it becomes a Shame to tell people that you Belong to Old IIT. I just tell them that I am from a local College.

After Mains got over-

Even after completing all papers in time.

Even after writing quality answerr with value addition- committees, laws, quotes etc

Even after referring to 100s of Toppers Answers sheets

Even after writing 50 mock tests

We both admitted there is no Surity of Success.

Every candidate in the exam hall was doing the same thing. They all completed the paper on time. Gave value-added answers.

No Surity of Success.

Its just a gamble.....

I have friends all over in Corporate with handsome salaries. However their job security are uncertain and job satisfaction even worse.

There is a trend I observed in Upper Middle Class NCR.

The Men from financially established families (Own car, Own house) want to go the Entreprenuership route. My friends say- "We need working wives with respectable salary. Not the dummy Operations Manager (read- receptionist) type job ".

They say so because they want financial security when they take Entrepreneurial Risk. So that basics bills get paid even when the start-up is in Infant stage.

Furthermore with questionable job security, people want wives to be earning decent to avoid financial crisis.

This has led to demand for 20LPA wives. Apart from that Govt teacher/lecturer is also valued highly.

Whats up with all the Youngsters building Dehi (Bodies) in Haryana. They haven't figured out their career/business, but they have figured out all about fitness/aesthetics.

Keeping fit is bare minimum, I understand. But building a muscular/aesthetic body is a luxury that sucks lot of time, money and efforts.

I see youngsters too preoccupied in looking like Greek-god, when they have no financial security and no career.

Moreover, a lot of them dont even seek to Monetize their body through Insta/Modelling. What is the RoI of having such body? Health to ek normal functionally fit body se bhi maintain kari jaa skti he. What is the need for being so shredded/muscular?

Being a Jaat, I see this pandemic of Fitness in my community more. Very Handsome guys with very shredded Bodies sitting like Safed Haathi at home.

Guys I got selected in 4th iteration of Prelims result with Borderline marks (near 53). What will be the repercussion of today's Judgement on me?

I work in a Govt Finance Company.

How many rishtas i get in My Upper Middle Class circle.......wait let me count....0 + 0 + 0 + 0........=0

The only demand in upper middle class is for:

firstly --- Super heavy collection jobs (IAS/IPS)

sencondly --- Heavy collection jobs (State Services/govt engg/UPSC allied jobs)

Lastly----- >50 lpa guys

Apart from this you are not better than a pebble on a road in the eyes of Girl's parents.

Please note, I am talking only about Upper Middle class established famlilies. Few Ex of girls we connected to:

1. Unemployed pretty daughter of Delhi Administrative serives officer. Heavy black Money Alert
2. Super Pretty daughter of Delhi Police ACP. Super Heavy Black Money Alert.
3. Elegant HDFC Manager- 20 lpa
4. Unemployed Baddie- Bachelors from UK. Premium House. Only daughter. Parents -MNC executives.

As I am good looking, I look only for equally good looking matches. But Alas!

Even though they lay unemployed, their parents dont budge.

They dont look for Strugglers. They look for Achievers.

Normal govt banks, insurance, CGL or even RBI grade-b is not even considered by these people.

As their dads made fortune being Govt Officers,they only look for govt jobs with Heavy Wealth creation potential. As I am very active in Shaadi Market, following are the Govt jobs that are in demand. You will get like 100s of Rishtas from trophy wives if you fall in one of them:

1)IAS - straight up boss- You have won lottery of life. If by chance you get home state- expect rishtas from MP/MLAs. You end up with 100 Cr at retirement if you are Modest, 500 Cr if you are crafty, 1000 Cr if you are straight-up Politician. Go ask your Dad about it, he will tell. If you have a friend into business just ask him. No bullshit straight facts.

I have friends in bureaucracy- All the stories are real.

2)IPS - Younger brother of IAS. SP of my distt makes 10-15 LPM. My uncle is in Police- straight up facts. Supplies Cash-tiffin to SP.

3)Allied services of UPSC with earning potential - IRMS, IRS (GST)etc. Non-earners like IDES , IRS (IT) etc dont command much respect. Those who know they know the rates of different posts.

4. State Services - the middle level bureaucracy- Plum and Smooth- hand of the of the Kings (IAS)- they also make a forutne (200 Cr if you are crafty). My neighbour said- Bhai father has earned a lot now. I left my job and became a property dealer.

5. Govt Engg- SDO in State Pollution control board, Irrigation dpet, CPWD, etc. I have a relative who retired as Chief Engg in SPCB (250 Crores- yes you heard it right!!)

No respect for Honest earners. They all Dads looking for officers. Goose that lays golden eggs.

Please Note - If you become one of them and then dont involve in wealth accumulation, you will be lamented and may be divorced. My friend's friend is an IAS. Unfortunately an honest one. His wife was a Trophy Wife from Delhi. Couldnt maintain her lifestyle living clean. He was upright about honesty. They legally separated now.

I wish to share some post-selection reality.

I am Scale-1 officer in a PSB. I am from a NIT.

All this post is written from perspective of Upper Middle Class. I have own car. Plus parents have 2-3 flats in Noida. So i dont even need to take car/house loan, which is the highest selling point of this job.

This job has a very low demand in Matrimony market in upper-middle class circles:

• Modest Salary: My engineering and MBA friends have package of 25-50 lpa. Girls straight away reject seeing my 10 lpa salary. Even with benefits combined it comes nowhere close.
  • Govt job tag in Shaadi Market works only for Maal-ki-nokriya like SDM/DSP/GST etc.
  • After talking to a lot of Parents I have realized that they just want Collection-vali-nokriya otherwise they say they are better off with High Package guys.
• Growth preferred over stability: Noida upper middle-class girls want you to be ambitious. Roti-Kapda-Makaan-car is not even their concern.
• Transfers: you will spend half of your life away from home. All holidays will be spent going to home rather than enjoying new hobbies or going new places.
  • You will never be able to make a Social circle, you will always be on move. Moreover, if you want to do a side-business you can never create a permanent Clientele.
• Lifestyle: what adult entertainment options are available in Sikar/Darbanga. Saala yha ki to market me nhi le jaa skte wife ko. Girls bought up in Metro cities will never leave it. Cant just order Tirmisu at Shudh Vaishno Dhaba.

For female employees it is even worse job. Transferable jobs Females are avoided. No Corporate High Package guy will relocate to Ujjain/ Patna/ Hisar for their wife's posting.

Metro city postings are very political. If you think you will always remain posted in Delhi/Bangalore near your working Husband, forget it...... There are so many females who want such postings.....There is heavy politics and Sifarish culture......My female batch-mates are literally crying over their career choice and dearth of good matches. Their pool is limited to their Batch-mates only.

From perspective of upper middle class people:

Joining this job is not wrong. But staying here is wrong.
