Oh yes, I was more than impressed by the quality of it! My forever watch!
Oh yes, I was more than impressed by the quality of it! My forever watch!
You can either drive up or hike it.
After years of collecting, flipping, researching movements, and pretending I can see the difference between hand finishing and fingerprints, I finally acquired my grail: a Casio G-Shock.
It’s solar-powered, radio-controlled, waterproof to 200 metres, resistant to mud, vibration, gravity, nuclear winter, and mild criticism from Rolex owners.
The case is 52mm wide, but it wears more like a tasteful grandfather clock strapped to the wrist. Legibility is excellent, provided you’re standing directly beneath stadium lighting and already know what time it is.
The watch automatically synchronizes with an atomic clock every night. This is important because I cannot tolerate being three seconds late for sitting on the couch.
I wear it for serious outdoor activities like taking out the garbage, pressure-washing one patio chair, and walking through the Costco parking lot during light rain.
Some people say quartz has no soul. Those people have never heard a G-Shock beep triumphantly at midnight while they’re trying to sleep.
Pure Japanese haute horology. Rugged. Accurate. Indestructible.
Still removing it before doing the dishes, obviously.
Mid to late August all the snow is gone at the summit. But if you drive only do so in a 4 x 4…. Preferably a truck, at minimum a mid sized SUV.
As we all know, Canada's national handgun buying ban—implemented as a freeze on the sale, purchase, and transfer of handguns—officially came into force on October 21, 2022.
Did many of you act proactively and transfer handguns from one generation to the next? Because that is precisely what my dad and I did.
Dad is still with us and now in his early 80s. Over a lifetime of selling reloaded handgun ammo to friends (back when it was still much cheaper to do so)….. he still casts lead bullets, does it all…. He slowly built up his handgun collection for IPSC and IDPA shooting. He ran IDPA Canada for many years. His collection stopped at just over 30 handguns.
In September of 2022 the writing was on the wall…. Trudeau was going to end the buying, selling, and transfer of handguns. So yeah, we transferred all his handguns and his few scary black guns into my name. We set up a long term storage ATT at his home and he continues to enjoy his guns. Subsequently I moved in to help my aging parents…. But thats beside the point…. The guns are in my name at least until the day I die.
My guess is the guns could possibly be handed in by my younger brother when I die….. but who knows…. That’s not my problem. I know he's not interested in keeping them as at very least his wife would object.
So yeah, we were proactive and ensured all 30 handguns would pass on to me. Lol, I couldn't possibly even name them all... But we made a spreadsheet with names, serial numbers, and values.
OK then, time to get cleaned up and take a few of them to the range this afternoon!
What can’t I do today that spending this money will allow me to do?
That is the fundamental question to ask yourself when considering upgrading a phone.
If you struggle to name something meaningful, you’re probably purchasing novelty rather than capability.
My own assessment is that The upcoming 18 pro max will be the last phone from Apple before they make what I guess will be at least a two year mistake of going to rounded glass screen edges…. It took Samsung 10 years to end their rounded edge adventure.
Maybe I should simply remove this subreddit until at least 2035? 😂
I took my new Rayban Meta Gen 2 sunglasses to the range to shoot trap tonight. Recording results were a disappointment because you can not record on a straight line of site down your barrel.
I didn’t bring my handguns out to try…. Will do that another time.
