Would a paragon with safety overrides be considered trolling?

It already has massive dissipation and a decent range modifier. Would it be a troll build to just throw in something that can (if I'm correct) just soak damage forever even if it looses all the range benefits your average Disco Paragon has?

Context: vanilla. How viable would this be vs ai? Different factions?

P. S that already includes stabilized and hardened shields and a field modulation (elite) officer.

Pro-linux and Windows-hating communities only have the same cheap 3 arguments..

Those subreddits like "fuckmicrosoft " are just the same three complaints on loop, and they all fall apart the second you actually think about them.

"Windows forces updates and breaks everything"

Okay, first, you have a week to restart your device overnight. One week. If you can't manage that, that's a you problem, not Windows' problem, you also get pop-ups on Linux asking you to update.

And don't say windows update always breaks things, the chances are like 5%...

You know what actually breaks devices en masse? Kernel updates on Linux distros. We're talking about millions of users getting bricked, just go and check cachy/bazzite/mint etc subs and read the dozens of complains about how an update broke something, But sure, Windows is the unreliable one.

Also, you care about security, right? That's literally why Windows forces updates. Your 2013 Thinkpad with 4GB RAM and a 5200rpm hard drive is slow because your hardware is ancient, not because Windows is bloated. Stop blaming the OS for your dust-filled laptop filled with furry corn and minors.

"Windows 11 privacy is a nightmare"

You use reddit, social media apps, I mean ... You're on Reddit, logged into Google, probably using Meta apps, and all your data is being packaged and sold as I type this... You have a tracking device on your pocket right now that registers any step/place/ browsing ... But Windows's telemetry is where you draw the line? That's peak hypocrisy, hermano. Don't preach about privacy while you're living in a glass house.

"Gaming is better on Linux"

No. It's not. Benchmarks show Windows dominates for actual AAA titles. Yeah, your indie game from 2009 or your furry simulator runs fine on Linux, but that doesn't mean gaming broadly is better there. Stop pretending niche compatibility equals superiority.

And yeah, you still rely and need to test 20/30 command lines on 3rd party launchers to play those games I mentioned.

"Windows is bloated!"

It's really not. I've got Windows running silk on family and company devices, including old Acers. You know why? Because I actually run a debloat script. It takes literally one minute. That's your "bloat" problem solved.

Yeah, it's a 3rd party app, but even to launch any steam game or app you need most of the time a 3rd party and 15 terminal lines just to make your audio to work.

"Windows is too expensive, I'm so poor!"

The ISO is FREE. to download. MASSGrave activates it permanently in three seconds. You're not making a principled stand, you're just making excuses and if you're in an Enterprise environment, most devices already have an OEM license.

The real issue: Those Windows hating communities aren't about legitimate criticism anymore. It's a circlejerk where people repeat the same broken arguments because they sound good in the echo chamber. Windows does what it's designed to do,provide stability, security, and compatibility for millions of people.

If you want to use Linux, great. But don't pretend it's because Windows is objectively worse. Use what fits your workflow. Just stop with the performative hate...

Why do you care so much about Linux?!

We don’t, really.

But you do! So much so that you keep trying to invade this place as if your life depends on it.

Here's the thing, bucko: most of us don't care even slightly that you run Linux on your desktop. Install Gentoo on your refrigerator and replace your car's infotainment system with LFS. Go ahead. Just don't preach it to us, and especially don't preach it here!

https://preview.redd.it/5rvg2rfbvljh1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=017389887a11180e7b865f47879ee88dbaba92d9

This sub exists because Linux evangelists insist on preaching about the damn thing in every single corner of the internet:

  • Somebody complains about Windows? Install linux
  • Someone needs Adobe software? Use GIMP
  • A game doesn't work on Linux? The game is evil and it sucked anyway
  • Looking for a burger recipe? Here’s a Nix flake for one.
  • Someone simply says they don't like Linux? Well clearly they used the wrong distro, desktop environment, display server, kernel version, filesystem, bought the wrong hardware or simply existed in the wrong timeline.

The fact that a tiny corner of the internet where all that madness is explicitly unwelcome exists drives you up the wall.

You deliberately break the rules, get banned exactly as advertised and then parade the result as some sort of victory. The posts where you're bragging about your bans, calling them "badges of honor" are actually just diplomas in failing basic rule reading comprehension. Not gonna lie, it kinda feels like playing chess with a pigeon.

Anyway, just understand that this sub is an enemy of your own making, and it only exists because you couldn't tolerate people rejecting your ideology religion cult.

The best possible thing you could do is ignore this sub, but we both know that ain't happening.

See you on the next "badge of honor" thread, dorks.

Here's The Nest of Brigaders Downvoting and Causing Problems

Recruiting from the sub that was openly calling for brigading (leaving up posts that called for it including suggestions that they could still downvote every post here when banned). -This is migrating the users to a new sub specifically for brigading you guys.

https://preview.redd.it/cjw8dtsz57gh1.png?width=656&format=png&auto=webp&s=98bd874b4c56cc7fff2c307a1bfbe2e0056062a0

The side bar of the new sub for brigading (since they made rule 8 on r/fuckmicrosoft ) has this:

https://preview.redd.it/4bgtjyp567gh1.png?width=307&format=png&auto=webp&s=af92d28e4baf7ce1f947ba3990715a448a11a955

They're still promoting brigading at the other sub though:

https://preview.redd.it/ofp9inbe67gh1.png?width=792&format=png&auto=webp&s=1de9e290aadca3196563dc6ea23d2f30a0aa521c

-you can smell the insincerity.

Note, that the other sub has been reported for intentional brigading, and Reddit has failed to show any action on it other than HIDING IT from me! They've even suggested there that Reddit only cares about ban evasion IF it's reported, and I've seen the reaction to the reports of ban evasion: (a mere 1 week ban!). -Hold them accountable if they continue!

Please use Linuxsucks - Lemmy.World

More on the mod allowing you guys to get down-vote raided:

-Apparently a well-known problem on Reddit.

Linux Is Bad, Apple Is Good, Just Let the Ewaste Problem Burn

finally, I can post it here. Warning: Long rant

So this question has been wandering on my mind for months:

whats the best solution to connect my ubuntu thinkpad t480 across networks and across linux distros like zorin os, iPad, android phone, windows 7 laptop? i need to share files, sometimes some of my devices are VPNed

And yeah, KDE Connect + Tailscale. Setting it up, it takes only 15 minutes.. How convenient is that? Yeah, it's only convenient when you understand what a network is lol. I'm the (rare) one who actually knows what Linux is and still havne't set it up for months. (ofc you do too, and you're using Arch btw! Go touch grass, you'll never know how people actually look and live in real life not online)

People irl be like:

Grandpa: "Network? Is that like a fishing net? Why can't I see you connecting this phone and this computer?"
Me: "Grandpa, you can't see the network with your eyes, it's all virtual"
Grandpa: "Are you connecting your phone to the network of this house?"
Me: "Grandpa! I am just plugging in my phone to this socket, the phone has flight mode on, and"
Grandpa: "Why isn't the phone flying? Your phone doesn't have wings like planes..."

>

"But Linux is ALWAYS SUPERIOR, don't you know that I use NixOS + KDE Plasma and "
And those nerds are expecting every single one to use Linux, some even agrue that hey it's GNU/Linux not Linux, Linux is a kernel not an OS (Operating System), and.......
How narcisstic nerds are. Go touch grass. Stop wondering why people are not using Linux, you're the problem.

And yeah, interconnecting multiple devices? It's easy, (limited to Apple (registered trademark) devices only ). According to Steve Jobs, an iPad is designed to be able to quickly learnt by anyone, even a toddler, given 5 minutes for exploration. So as you expect, the same rule goes for airdrop.

Sarah, who's majoring Arts History, has got some cats photos on her iPhone? She wants to send them to her friend's iPad. Go Airdrop. It works even if her phone is connected to a foreign country via VPN. No need to worry about "Oops a LAN is not forming becuz ..... and to transfer files accross devices a WAN can never...." . Apple's coolest chips on both devices will handle the rest. Airdrop? Built-in. Every single Apple Devices.

But how to do the same between a LineageOS Android Degoogled Phone and Linux?

And yes, non-techies need to know that :

  1. Airdrop only works on apple devices
  2. sending files across devices don't bound to that uploading one file onto google drive and download it on another device. CLUNKY.
  3. Be open-minded on your brain and discover the fact that airdrop alternatives exist
  4. Third, they need to know, at least ask that one question on AI
  5. Tsunami of tech-world jargons CPU, NETWORKING, LAN, DOESN'T WORK ON WAN
    1. Dramatic (albeit arbirtary) song plays. LINUX THE TUX IS GOING TO SAVE THE WORLD!!! OPEN SOURCE AND GNU ARE THE FUTURE OF THE DIGITAL AGE
  6. And set-up, donwloading LocalSend or KDE Connect on your phone and PC
    1. "HOW THE HECK DO I OPEN AN APPIMAGE????????" 5 minutes later "oh i see mark executable"
  7. Oops authentication error (1052) wth is this???????
  8. alright finally
  9. "So I wasted these many hours, cognitive memory, and energy, just to get something all built-in to Apple devices??? From an economics perspective, I could have used these hours to accompany my family that actually creates more wealth than setting up this frustrating shit.

8 large clunky steps man. to set up EACH OF THE STEPS CAN DISCOURAGE ORDINARY SANE PEOPLE, in other words, each step is an uphill battle and failing either one completely strips away the possibility for them to meet fundamental things that come with apple devices.
And let's be clear and honest, this is the problem that exists not just in setting up air-drop like services too, but every single aspect. Not even a teen who wants to try Linux on his laptop. A roadblock is already out there before he even tries it.

A: "Let's install Linux"
A: "Woah so many Linuxes"
A: "So distro is a flavor of Linux!"
A: "Desktop Environments wth???"
A:"Display managers wth?????????????"
A: posts on reddit
Redditors:
"Use Ubuntu!"
"Mint is better for beginners"
"CachyOS is for gamers and this suits your vibe"
"......"
a Reddit random user who hasn't cut his footnails for 10 years: "Don't listen them. Use Gentoo. Compile yourself, your laptop runs the fastest with this"
A: "Fastest? Seems like it's the answer."
A: hit by a tsunami of a shitload of errors
A: "Guess I will stick with windows 10 for my i5 7200u laptop, microsoft supports it to 2027 at least i am less overwhelmed"

>

An Aspect that's Often Overlooked: Opportunity Cost of Learning the Tech World

TBH, the opportunity cost (time, energy, side hustles that you can't do becuz you've to set up) of setting up any non apple things, that actually make them to have the same UX as is way more expensive than just buying apple things.Imagine that for a normie: they need days of learning the basics (they don't even know what a CPU is), and days of learning, experimenting, failing, debugging, just to get the UX, when they can do what they are actually good at (painting cats) and selling their drawings. And istg that actually diverting the resources to what you're good at to do what you're good at actually creates more values. In fact, the extra value created worths it as it's equal to the extra cost of buying a new mac while trashing their current old but linux-capable ThinkPad T440p (not anybody love selling stuff particularly this old and cheap) . Just like you won't ask a back-end developer to draw and sell portraits on a tourist avenue. Eww. Smelly. And they wonder why no one is using linux lol.

STUPID NERDS!!! NOT EVERY SINGLE BODY WHO USES COMPUTERS ON EARTH KNOW WHAT COMPUTERS ACTUALLY ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF.

Final Thoughts

Lol alright enough drama. thats why normal people just use iphones/MacOS, as a linux user who actually reads humanities books (unlike 99% of other smelly linux users), when other humanities major friends ask me about which device to choose, i just tell them get apple devices for airdrops even though my heart is aching that they're not getting a thinkpad/android phone. undoubtedly when it comes to UX apple is lightyears ahead

linux distros are all underdogs when it comes to UX, even tho it's possible to install linux on windows 11 incompatible laptops or install custom roms on android phones. i just hate those stupid nerds who never think of UX and it-works-out-of-the-box, yeah arch is cool, but recommending a humanities major girl to install arch???? whats wrong with you??? just like the nerd will never understand many modern english words are created by Shakespeare. stupid nerds.

e-waste laptops/PCs just because their CPU is under 8th gen intel? ok, just send them to landfills, DO NOT INSTALL linux, doesnt even have designs that help users as basic as airdrop/airdrop alternative. yeah, localsend exists, but only on LOCAL network, it means your stupid lineageos android phone has to FIRST DOWNLOAD localsend AND has to disconnect mobile data AND connect to the router of your laptop. BUY MACBOOKS/MAC MINIS, BUY IPHONES/IPADS, JUST LET EWASTE PROBLEM MARCH ON.

Sure, you have KDE Connect, but local only lol. Use tailscale as well? Have fun with accounts and auth and maintenance and single-point failure!!!

Don't want to set-up? Skill issue bro! RTFM!

The myth of the professional Linux user

I recently saw this exchange:

>I haven't seen a single professional or corporate office in my life that daily drives Linux. Fake-ass vocal minority that's too broke to buy proper laptops or socially eccentric.

Someone responded:

>Tell me you're not working with the top talent of the IT/SW industry without telling me you're not working with the top talent of the IT/SW industry.

According to Linux evangelists, the really talented developers all use Linux. If your workplace mostly uses Windows or macOS, apparently you're part of an organization of weaklings and haven't reached the upper levels of the industry yet (that's ridiculous nonsense).

Some professional developers do daily-drive Linux, but after roughly ten years in the industry, I have never noticed any meaningful correlation between desktop operating system and technical ability. The devs on linux are a random minority of developers who happen to prefer it, not the most skilled ones.

I have met excellent and incompetent developers on all three operating systems. Installing Arch does not unlock hidden programming knowledge, and configuring a tiling window manager does not make someone a better engineer.

I've also seen a deliberate conflation between working with Linux and using desktop Linux.

Plenty of developers work with Linux every day through servers, containers, virtual machines, WSL or SSH while using Windows or macOS on their actual workstation. That makes them Linux professionals and it does not mean they want it on their desktop.

Reminder: Actual professionals generally have work to do.

In fact, the people who have seriously used Linux for years are often among the least impressed by the propaganda. They know every sore spot firsthand, so the delusional propaganda actively annoys them.

TL;DR: Loons, the Linux pros also hate you

Edit: Fixed the broken quotes, fixed typos

Imagine if they put this much energy into improving Linux

One thing I keep seeing all over the internet is Linux fanatics telling people, “If you have a problem with Linux, contribute to it.”

Which is funny, because apparently their idea of “contributing” is making new accounts, invading a subreddit where Linux glazing is explicitly against the rules, getting banned, and then doing it all over again.

They constantly tell critics to stop complaining and help improve Linux, but they themselves spend all day defending it in places where nobody asked, pretending every issue is user error, and acting like Linux is already flawless.

Imagine if even half that energy went into fixing the problems people actually complain about.

Better UX. Better app compatibility. Better audio. Better drivers. Better consistency. Better documentation that doesn’t assume everyone wants to live in a terminal 24/7. An internal ABI that doesn't break compatibility every 5 minutes, and lastly, some standardization.

Hell, Linux might've been closer to Windows or macOS for normal users by now (Ballsy thing to say, I know, but with the amount of time they spend invading this sub, who knows?).

But no, they’re too busy trying to convince a subreddit called r/linuxsucks101 that Linux doesn’t suck 🤦

Genuinely scary levels of delusion.

The Sub that has been repeatedly OPENLY Brigading Us (and Reddit hid it on us)

All 7 subs are making Reddit look bad (which is funny because Reddit protects them). Even the valid / top users complain about the value of their content and even get positive karma for doing so. If they're not brigading, or lying about us, etc., they are just re-posting mindless drivel like a wall of "FUCK MICROSLOP". -And it effectively works for karma farming!

Reddit was supposed to be about self-curating. -But they tightly limit your block list and allow limitless accounts for the same bad actors (how they can also hide this monopoly on Windows subs).

Linuxsucsk101 started slower than our community at Lemmy (which was abandoned for a while). -Now I'm focusing (exclusives) at Lemmy and we are growing again! Don't wait for it to 'get bigger' because you can help make the difference for others that are thinking that. Either way, we're growing with or without you.

How do we even define what CRM is and what features should it have?

I have noticed it's an umbrella term for any software that helps you manage customers.

There's usually contacts to leads to qualification to signing contracts, but also things like email automation, LinkedIn integration, workflows, AI, alerting/notifications and analytics duct taped together.

Then there's different CRMs for freelancers, for mid size companies, for B2B and B2C etc. How fo we even define what features should each CRM have? What are some good learning resources to read on this topic?

How feasible is LinkedIn for freelance web dev?

Hello,

I am trying to expand my freelance services from local service marketplaces to platforms that cover bigger and broader markets - that includes LinkedIn, cold email outreach and Upwork.

I'm a web developer. How feasible is LinkedIn as source of freelance leads? What are some tips and tricks to strengthen the network and optimize for gig economy?

Absolutely all the DMs I have received were about payroll based job that requires to attend an office space. I am looking for remote work on freelance basis.

Guilty until proven innocent

In all my years on this earth, I've watched the Linux community do one thing with remarkable consistency: blame the user.

It happens in Windows and Mac circles too, sure. But nowhere near this scale and intensity - seriously, it's not even close.

Here's the pattern that you've already seen a hundred times: OP posts about a linux problem they're hitting. Before anyone's actually read the thing, the replies roll in: "works on my machine". Or my favorite, the dogpile of "skill issue, sounds like a you problem". OP gets treated as a criminal.

https://preview.redd.it/w361nru6ir8h1.png?width=848&format=png&auto=webp&s=a6cadae8adf2ff73bd93ae3243c48b105841d4cd

https://preview.redd.it/rcs2ugxzrr8h1.png?width=796&format=png&auto=webp&s=3a113a013fa53e8585c8438604febd13b0e12a2a

https://preview.redd.it/ofu3k7kext8h1.png?width=891&format=png&auto=webp&s=424bcc22c76ce4e01d7567f386c8ddb5b0ac11f8

And then, more often than not, when someone actually digs into it, the cause turns out to be a UX problem, a functionality bug or straight-up something just randomly failing.

(For anyone seeking context, OP was installing ubuntu, and it failed installing the bootloader on its own. OP was able to fix their issue via Mint's Boot-Repair, not thanks to these "helpful" replies)

So I keep asking myself: why is this tolerated**?** Why is it so widespread that at this point it's just the expected behavior?

  • Is it that the community is so fundamentally broken, that it can't admit Linux has flaws? Every bug report feels like ammo handed to "the enemy", so the reflex is to defend the OS (or the kernel, depending on the issue) by blaming the user instead?
  • Is it an ego thing? Some people clearly stand a little taller after stepping on someone. "I configured my way through this, so if you can't, that's a you problem".

Honestly, I can't tell. Maybe it's both. Or maybe there's a third reason I'm not seeing.

What I can tell is that unless someone actually bothers to troubleshoot, the OP leaves no closer to a fix. And if you're someone who pulls this, know one thing: every time you do, you're stocking r/linuxsucks101 for free. You think you're defending Linux, but you're the main exhibit.

To any regular person watching, dogpiling someone for asking a question or complaining doesn't read as "based power user", but reads as unnecessarily cruel, makes the whole community look like the unreasonable, deranged ones, and leaves yet another stain on the community's reputation

In this case fallen means either 1) destroyed like Highwater or LAW or 2) under Sap's control (spawn)

Highwater ❌

Steampunk ❌

Capital city ❌

Spawn ❌

Northern council ❌

LAW ❌ (effectively dead)

Ironclad city❓(Unknown, can still be loyal to Parrot)

Newtopia❓(same as Ironclad)
