I did a couple rugs at a tufting workshop but now I enjoy it enough that I want to buy my own setup. I got the big items already- Frame, tufting gun, yarn.

For the actual tufting cloth, what would you recommend? I'm mainly making wall rugs and maybe some floor or keyboard rugs. For rugs that I have practical use for (floor or keyboard rug), how should I apply adhesive, backing, or whatever? At the workshops, we used a spray adhesive to attach a black backing cloth to the rug, then we had to cut out the rug while leaving an inch border, and then folded back + hot-glued the border.

I assume this method is just to save time for a workshop session but for you guys making rugs to sell or use, what products do you use and what steps do you apply after tufting the initial design?
