Worried about gap criteria as a 2026 B.Tech Fresher. Am I eligible?

Hey everyone, I am a 2026 B.Tech graduate and I am currently applying for off-campus fresher roles. I am extremely anxious about how mass recruiters (TCS, Infosys, Accenture, etc.) calculate gap years and whether I will clear their eligibility filters. Here is my exact academic timeline:

• 10th Pass: 2019

• 12th Pass: 2021

• B.Tech Pass: 2026 (I took a 1-year drop between school and college for entrance preparation).

• Current Status: It has been about 150 days since graduation and I am actively job hunting. My main worry is how the portals calculate this. Do they combine the school drop year and my post-graduation job search days together? Will my 1-year drop year cause rejections in background verification (BGV), or do I fit within the standard 2-year academic gap rule? If anyone from the 2026 batch or someone who recently cleared BGV at an MNC could clarify how their portal calculates this, it would be a huge help. Thanks!

23F, graduated with a good CGPA but feel like I’ve completely lost my direction. I don’t know what to do anymore.

I’m a 23F, recently graduated with a B.Tech in IT. I finished college with around a 9 CGPA.I have done internships, AI/ML projects, and even had a research paper accepted at a conference.

But right now, I feel like none of that matters because I have completely lost confidence in myself.

I’ve been sitting at home for the past few months looking for a job. I’ve applied to 500+ opportunities and received rejection after rejection. My college placements haven’t worked out either.

The worst part is that I feel like I’ve forgotten almost everything I learned.

I used to work with C++, Python, ML/DL,SQL, solved a lot of DSA problems — and now when I look at a new problem, sometimes I can't even figure out the basic logic.

I’m currently trying to restart everything: DSA, CS fundamentals, projects and also considering preparing for GATE. But I keep thinking: What if I spend another year preparing and still fail? What if I never get a decent job?

There is also a huge amount of guilt because my parents have spent a lot of money on my education. They made sacrifices to fund it, and I feel like I haven't been able to give them anything in return. They don't even pressure me, which somehow makes me feel worse because I see them and keep wondering whether I'll ever be able to make things better.

I know objectively that I’m still young and that one bad year doesn't determine an entire career. But emotionally, I don't feel that way. I feel stuck, exhausted, sleepy and completely disconnected from the person I used to be.

I don't want generic advice like "just keep applying" or "everything will work out." I genuinely want to hear from people who have been in a similar situation.

If you were in my position, what would you do for the next 6–12 months?

Would you focus entirely on getting any job first, rebuild my development/AI skills while applying, prepare seriously for GATE, or try to do both?

And if you had a decent academic record but had forgotten most of your technical skills after graduation, how long did it realistically take you to become job-ready again?

I’m not looking for pity. I just need some perspective because right now I genuinely don't know which direction to take.

One of the worst colleges in the name of a government institution.

IGDTUW is one of the worst colleges and has honestly destroyed my life. So many companies are ghosting students and the college takes absolutely no accountability for that. I am an unplaced student from a tech branch (2026 grad) . In my batch, they hire only around 50% of the students. Even among them, there are very few — barely 20–30 students — who got PPOs.

The management is worse than a normal government office. Exams are conducted every two months. The curriculum designed does not cater to the questions asked in company interviews. They couldn't even conduct a proper interview process.

The placement cell treats the PR and MR heads like slaves and doesn't properly communicate with the companies. There is absolutely no proper communication or accountability regarding company policies and recruitment processes.

One of the worst colleges in the name of a government institution. This college is nothing like what it claims to be. There is no proper practical exposure, no proper industry-oriented curriculum, and no accountability when companies change their policies or ghost students.

Even when a company comes for recruitment, students are expected to attend exams at that time only. They even conduct exams in the 8th semester, which, as far as I know, is something most colleges don't do. TNP, academics, infrastructure — everything is fucked up.

Being a ranker, I honestly feel I should have taken a lower branch in some other college. Even IP colleges are way better than this.

[0 YOE] Fresh 2026 B.Tech IT Graduate Struggling Between Taking a Sales Job and Upskilling.

I’m a 2026 B.Tech IT graduate from a Tier 2 college in Delhi, and I’m honestly very confused about what to do next.

I’ve been trying for off-campus tech jobs, but getting a software/IT role as a fresher seems extremely difficult right now. I’m considering taking a sales job because my financial situation isn’t good, but I’m worried that moving into sales could make it harder for me to transition into tech later.

At the same time, I could spend the next several months seriously upskilling in DSA, core CS subjects, development, and projects and continue applying for tech jobs. But I’m scared that if I don’t get a job until next year, I’ll have a significant gap on my resume and become even less employable.

Government jobs are also an option I’ve considered, but realistically, I don’t think I can depend on getting one.

What would you do in my situation?

Should I:

  • Take a non-tech/sales job for financial stability while continuing to prepare for tech?
  • Focus completely on upskilling and applying for tech jobs for the next 6–12 months?
  • Consider some other path that I’m overlooking?

I would really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have been in a similar situation. I’m feeling quite lost right now and don’t want to make a decision that hurts my career in the long run. 🙏

23F with PCOS for 10 years, never had my first period, rapid hair loss, facial hair, and fatty liver. Looking for advice?

Hi everyone,

I'm 23 years old, 166 cm tall, and currently weigh 94 kg. Last year, I weighed 103 kg, so I've lost around 9 kg through lifestyle changes, but I'm still trying to improve my health.

I've been dealing with PCOS for the past 10 years. My current medications and supplements include:

* Metsmall 500 (metformin) * A PCOS multivitamin with a 40:1 inositol ratio * Vitamin supplements

In the past, I was prescribed hormonal pills to induce periods, but they caused severe mood swings and stomach pain, so I had to stop taking them.

My biggest concern is that I've never had my first period naturally—not even once. I've had pelvic ultrasounds, and my doctors told me that my reproductive organs appear normal with no structural abnormalities. However, I was diagnosed with fatty liver.

I'm also struggling with:

Rapid hair loss that seems to be getting worse. Excess facial hair growth (hirsutism). I underwent around 8 laser hair removal sessions, but I had to stop due to the cost and other reasons, and the hair has continued to grow.

I'm feeling overwhelmed because it seems like every symptom is getting worse despite taking medication and trying to lose weight. I worry about my future fertility, hormonal health, and whether there's something other than PCOS that could be causing me to never have a period.

Has anyone here experienced anything similar, especially never having a first period despite having normal reproductive organs on ultrasound? Were you eventually diagnosed with another condition? What tests or treatments helped you? Did anything improve your hair loss or facial hair?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences or any advice on what I should discuss with my gynecologist or endocrinologist during my next appointment.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

2026 B.Tech IT Graduate - Really Confused About What to Do Next

Hi everyone,

I graduated with a B.Tech in Information Technology in May 2026 (CGPA: 8.99). During college, I completed internships in Machine Learning, Generative AI, and AI Research. I've worked with Python, C++, SQL, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Pandas, Streamlit, and have built AI/ML projects .The problem is that after graduation, I feel like I've forgotten a lot of what I learned. I don't know whether I should revise everything from scratch, learn web development, continue with AI/ML, or focus on DSA.

I'm also considering preparing for GATE, but my family's financial condition isn't good, so getting a job is my top priority. At this point, I'm open to both tech and non-tech roles if they can help me become financially independent.

If you were in my position, what would you do? Any honest advice or roadmap would be greatly appreciated. Linkedin is not working as every application of mine is getting rejected.
