How to become more positive??

I’m autistic and most my struggles are caused by that, but maybe some people here can relate and have some tips.

I’ve always been very negative, since childhood. Everything has always felt hard and I get annoyed extremely easily (I’ve always felt alottt of negative emotions)
This sucks, bc I WANT friends but am just super pessimistic. I try to be positive but get burnt out almost instantly, it feels like faking. So me being negative and quiet and also having kinda bad social skills/ being weird is just a disaster.
I ”hate” everything that takes effort, talking to people included, but am not happy rn and don’t know how to be? This has been the case since childhood so propably very hard to change.
Any tips??

Sodvelmu tausta?

Wtf is this?

Wtf is wrong with me? Posting this to depression, autism and adhd sub, since no idea what this is related to.

I have always felt alot of discomfort, I’ve always hated stuff that takes any effort (most things), even ”fun” stuff like talking to people or holidays. I just feel this negative feeling when I have to do anything that takes effort, idk what it is exactly, but a bad, annoyed, uncomfortable feeling that is there most of the time (when I do anything it’s all I feel). So I’ve always been a very negative person bc of these feelings.

So obviously I was a very difficult child, since I never liked or wanted to do anything, even socialize. My parents put me through many psychologists, I present fairly normal to strangers, so I never got any diagnosis. Now my doc says I’m most likely either autistic/adhd, or atleast have alot of the traits. But even so, I have met MANY autistic/adhd people who enjoy life, activities, even tho they take effort? My little brother is autistic and talks alot and does alot of things, and I’m the polar opposite. I hate everything that takes effort. I have also been diagnosed with ocd but don’t see how it’s related to this.

I’m moving to college next week, so I need help. I just want to enjoy normal stuff, even tho they take effort. I don’t want to think ”omg I wish I was alone in my room laying in bed” every time someone tries to talk to me. But I’ve always had these problems, so idk if they are even solvable? I hate that my default feeling is discomfort/annoyment/just this feeling of everything being hard. If you know what this is or if it can be healed please help!

Loneliness, but also not being interested in many people?

I have no idea if this is even linked to autism. I’ve always felt lonely, and different, but especially the past 3 years I feel like I’ve gained pretty good social skills, and could make friends but don’t feel connected to anyone, even autistics. Like as a kid the problem was that I was kinda weird = didn’t have friends, but now I dress and look rlly normal and am socially pretty normal, but for some reason don’t feel interested in most people.

I also feel like I’m really negative, I feel alot of negative emotions, which can drive people away since I’m not optimistic. Always been this way and don’t know if it’s even fixable..

I daydream abt social stuff 24/7 but irl am pretty quiet. Kinda don’t care about 99% of people and don’t know what I could even talk about.

Feels weird since making friends or having a bf has always been my top 1 dream but for some reason I just am not interested when it comes to real life. Also could be my ocd, but I doubt my ”real” personality all the time, I don’t know when I’m my authentic self and when not.

Weed for autism? Does it help?

I’ve heard weed helps some autism symptoms. I have sensory issues (especially with pants and underwear), and also get irritated pretty easily. I’ve smoked weed a couple of times, first time was bad but the other times were totally fine, also I don’t have addictive personality and I don’t have psychosis related illnesses and neither does anyone in my family.

So what kind of weed would be the best? Does it matter? Does anyone have experiences regarding this, thanks in advance!

What to do instead of daydreaming?

I don’t care if it’s unhealthy. Just anything really. ”Mindfullness” and ”grounding” stuff have never worked for me, nothing has that people recommend. I’m not gonna start doing drugs or anything, but am open to basically any other coping strategies and stuff to do when bored.

Those who started writing out their daydreams??

I’ve heard some people have started writing out their daydreams and it has really helped them reduce daydreaming, how do you do it? I don’t have one plot line, so how could I be able to do this? Just write one page about a random scenario and then another page of another one?

Why isn’t maladaptive daydreaming in the DSM?

Is there a reason for this? Maladaptive daydreaming is disabling and makes your quality of life worse, why isn’t it a recognized mental disorder?

Daydreaming about love

I have daydreamed about having a boyfriend since I was like 5. I do it everyday, the theme is always the same: me having a boyfriend. Obviously the ”boyfriend” changes alot, his looks, personality etc when I see an actor I like or other stuff like that. I have never been in a relationship :( I’m now 20, and sad since I always dreamed about teenage love, which never happened. Finding some random man to be my boyfriend irl is definitely possible, since I’m ok/normal looking, and pretty normal otherwise too, but I have a hard time feeling connected to people. In my daydreams, the man can be perfect, exactly like me. In real life most people bore me (even friends). Finding someone who is attractive and I also like hanging out with seems impossible. I just wish I never started daydreaming 😔

How to reduce daydreaming EVEN a bit 😭

I’m currently 20. Started daydreaming at probably 5-6yo, and been doing it for hours every day since. I have tried to stop multiple times, get busy, hang out with people, but eventually always start again. I do it for loneliness, boredom, depression and anxiety. It feels like a drug, since life in my head is always better than irl. I have dreamt abt a boyfriend for like 10 years daily, have never even had one (daydreaming caused extremely high standards). I feel like I’m wasting my youth. If there are ANY ways you have reduced daydreaming, please help!!
