German Shepherd - How big will he be?

He’s just over 7 months old. A week ago he weighed in at 82.2lbs.

How big can I expect him to get?

Mosquitoes and Bears…what to do? (And heat)

Big and small!

I’m camping for the first time in 20+ years. I made reservations as many of you suggested for my first time back at it in ages. I may not have fully thought this thing through.

I’m at a campground in Northern California right now. They have bear boxes and the mosquitoes are insane.

I grew up camping in Oregon and I don’t remember the mosquitoes ever being this bad there when I was a kid. I’ve doused myself in bug spray and I have a citronella candle going but what can I do to help my dog? They’re absolutely swarming the poor guy. He doesn’t seem too bothered but I don’t like it.

Also, it’s cooling down now but it was HOT today and where I’ll be tomorrow says it’ll be even hotter. Any tips on helping keep the pup cool? I bought a cooling mat (the red thing in the photo) and I brought his elevated dog bed.

Bears…those also weren’t a thing where I grew up camping. Tonight I’m in the spot next to the host so I’m thinking it won’t be an issue. I did put my dogs kibble and everything in the bear box and took it out of my truck. I just don’t know how much of an actual concern bears are? Or is it one of those things where we do the things so they aren’t an issue?

First time camping in 20+ years...do you really need a reservation everywhere these days?

I grew up camping at least 5-6 times per year every year from the time I was 5-6 until I was 17-18. I camped a few times during college but haven't since.

I've been trying to plan a road trip and want to camp along the way but I'm confused on what some of the sites say. I'm looking at Castle Crags State Park in California...the website says first come first serve but then there's a reservation link. That confuses me?

What are the chances of me rolling up to a campground and there being a single site available for 1-2 nights? How do I find out if a place really is first come first-serve or if a reservation is available?
