I’m fairly positive that this is an ammonite fossil. The stone that it resides in is approximately four inches in diameter. I found this while on a 4-H club camping trip to the Northern Coast of California when I was ten. Specifically, the beach next to Stone Lagoon south of Orick, Ca.
