my honest opinion on the BTS situation
I have defended BTS in the past and I do still consider myself an army, however, with the new situation going on with J-hope and RM, I find it hard to listen to their music.
I have been a fan of BTS since June 2024. I know I am considered a "baby" army, but they were my inspiration to dive deep into other kpop boy bands(nct, cortis, ENHYPEN, skz, txt, tws, boynextdoor, ateez) and they were the reason I wanted to become a kpop idol.
Now, with my understanding, RM and J-hope recently attended a Usher concert in Canada, which featured Chris Brown, and they posted it on their stories. They also met and took pictures with Chris Brown as well, which should be on J-hopes Instagram.
If you didn't know, Chris Brown is an abuser who almost killed Rihanna, had several SA cases, struck his producer with an alcohol bottle, punched Frank Ocean, and also abused several other women.
As an army, this is disappointing not only because the majority of BTS stans are female, but also because BTS built their fanbase off of love, loving others, telling people to love themselves, and telling them how much they love their fans and how important they are to them. Not to mention Namjoon(RM) telling armys he reads books about feminism and support for women.
Namjoon in that situation sounds like a hypocrite, because Namjoon went to a concert where the singer abused women while also claiming he himself is a feminist.
I still love BTS, and their music is amazing and angelic to me, but until atleast an apology is stated I will not listen to their music.
I am a women before I am a kpop fan.
