Introducing Classic Istanbul Neg - a Fujifilm street recipe

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a few frames from a Fujifilm JPEG look I have been working on for everyday street photography.

It is called Classic Istanbul Neg.

The idea started from Istanbul's light and street rhythm: soft blue-grey skies, warm details, stone walls, crowds, ferries, birds, and small moments that disappear quickly. I wanted the look to carry some of that feeling, but still work outside Istanbul too.

It is based on Classic Negative and meant to feel warm without becoming too nostalgic, colorful without looking too digital, with natural blues, soft highlights, and a documentary mood.

A small shooting note: +1/3 EV can be a useful starting point in cloudy light, shaded streets, or scenes that feel a little too dark.

I would appreciate honest feedback on the color, mood, and whether this kind of look feels flexible for different streets and light.

Classic Istanbul Neg on X100VI

Hi everyone,

I have been testing my first Fujifilm film simulation recipe on the X100VI and wanted to share a few sample frames here.

It is called Classic Istanbul Neg.

The recipe is based on Classic Negative and came from the kind of light I often see while walking Istanbul: pale blue-grey skies, warm street details, old stone textures, crowds, ferries, birds, and quick everyday moments. I wanted it to carry some of that feeling without being limited to Istanbul itself.

The look I was aiming for is warm without becoming overly vintage, colorful without feeling too digital, with natural blues, soft highlights, and a documentary mood for everyday street photography.

A small exposure note: +1/3 EV can be a useful starting point in cloudy light, shaded streets, or scenes that feel a little too dark.

Shot on Fujifilm X100VI.

I would appreciate honest feedback on the color and mood, especially from X100VI users who shoot in different cities or light.

Classic Istanbul Neg - Classic Negative recipe samples

Recipe used: Classic Istanbul Neg, based on Classic Negative.

I have been testing this as my first Fujifilm film simulation recipe and wanted to share a few sample frames with a recipe-focused community.

The look started from the kind of light I often see in Istanbul: pale blue-grey skies, warm street details, old stone textures, crowds, ferries, birds, and fast everyday moments. I wanted it to carry some of that feeling without only making sense in Istanbul.

The goal is a flexible street JPEG recipe: warm but not overly vintage, colorful without feeling too digital, with natural blues, soft highlights, and a documentary mood for everyday scenes.

A small exposure note: +1/3 EV can be a useful starting point in cloudy light, shaded streets, or scenes that feel a bit too dark.

Shot on Fujifilm X100VI.

I would really appreciate honest feedback, especially from people who test recipes in different cities, weather, or light.

Classic Istanbul Neg - testing a Fuji JPEG look for street photography

Hi everyone,

I have been testing a Fujifilm JPEG recipe I made for everyday street photography and wanted to share a few frames from Istanbul for feedback.

It is called Classic Istanbul Neg.

The look came from the light I often notice while walking the city: pale skies, warm street details, old stone textures, crowds, ferries, birds, and quick everyday moments. I wanted it to carry some of that feeling without becoming an Istanbul-only look.

The recipe is based around Classic Negative. I was aiming for something warm but not too vintage, colorful without feeling too digital, with natural blues, soft highlights, and a documentary street mood that could still work in other places and weather.

A small exposure note: +1/3 EV can be a useful starting point in cloudy light, shaded streets, or scenes that feel a little too dark.

Shot on Fujifilm X100VI.

I would appreciate honest feedback on the color and mood, especially from people who shoot street in different cities or different light.

Classic Istanbul Neg - a Fuji X JPEG recipe inspired by Istanbul

Hi everyone,

I have been testing a Fujifilm film simulation recipe I made on my X100VI and wanted to share a few sample frames with the Fuji X community.

The recipe is called Classic Istanbul Neg.

It is built around Classic Negative and came from the kind of light I often notice in Istanbul: soft blue-grey skies, warm street details, old stone textures, crowds, ferries, birds, and quick everyday moments.

I wanted it to feel flexible rather than city-specific. The idea was a Fuji X JPEG look with some Istanbul mood, but still something that could work in other streets, weather, people, and light.

The look I was aiming for is warm without becoming too vintage, colorful without feeling too digital, with natural blues, soft highlights, and a documentary street feel.

A small exposure note: +1/3 EV can be a useful starting point in cloudy light, shaded streets, or scenes that feel a little too dark. Adjust depending on the light.

Shot on Fujifilm X100VI with the fixed 23mm lens.

I would appreciate honest feedback from Fuji X shooters, especially on whether this kind of color/contrast balance would translate well outside Istanbul.

Classic Istanbul Neg - Fujifilm SOOC JPEG look

Hi everyone,

I have been testing a Fujifilm film simulation recipe I made for SOOC JPEG shooting and wanted to share a few straight-out-of-camera sample frames for feedback.

The recipe is called Classic Istanbul Neg.

It is built around Classic Negative and came from the kind of light I often notice in Istanbul: pale skies, warm street details, stone walls, ferries, crowds, birds, and everyday city movement.

I wanted it to feel flexible rather than location-specific. The goal was a SOOC look with some Istanbul character, but still something that could work in other streets, weather, people, and light too.

The look I was aiming for is warm without becoming too vintage, colorful without feeling too digital, with natural blues, soft highlights, and a documentary street mood.

A small exposure note: +1/3 EV can be a useful starting point in cloudy light, shaded streets, or scenes that feel a little too dark. Adjust depending on the light.

Shot SOOC on Fujifilm X100VI with the fixed 23mm lens.

I would appreciate honest feedback on the color, contrast, and overall JPEG rendering, especially from anyone who shoots SOOC in different cities or lighting conditions.

Classic Istanbul Neg - a personal Fuji X JPEG recipe look

Introducing: Classic Istanbul Neg.

My first Fujifilm film simulation recipe.

Istanbul has always had a very specific feeling to me through the camera: soft blue-grey light, warm street details, old stone textures, crowds, ferries, birds, quiet corners, and everyday moments that disappear quickly if you do not notice them.

I wanted to create a recipe that carries a bit of that feeling without being limited to Istanbul itself.

Classic Istanbul Neg is based on Classic Negative and designed for everyday street photography: warm but not overly nostalgic, colorful but not too digital, with natural blues, soft highlights, and a documentary mood that can work across different places, people, weather, and light.

After testing it in different streets and conditions, this is the final version I wanted to share.

A small exposure note: in many everyday situations, +1/3 EV exposure compensation can work better as a starting point, especially in cloudy light, shaded streets, or scenes that feel a little too dark. Adjust depending on the light.

Shot on Fujifilm X100VI with the fixed 23mm lens.

I would really appreciate honest feedback from Fuji X shooters, especially if anyone tries this kind of look outside Istanbul or in different light.

For the full recipe settings and more sample photos, I shared them in my latest Instagram post under sefafilms.
