I was an idiot and primed the inner windscreen trim before painting it black, so the grey primer shows from the other side instead of the black paint, oh well, you live and you learn.

SO MUCH better in person than the pictures. Really interesting build too for such a “simple” shaped car.

New to cassettes. I’ve owned this car for a couple years and the tape player has never worked, finally worked up the courage to disassemble it and have a look, after some tinkering it now accepts and ejects tapes as it should🗣️

It sounds absolutely horrendous, I only have one tape and I’ve tested it on multiple players and confirmed the bad sound is definitely coming from my player, and not the tape itself. But hey, at least I’ve made some progress

How much weight have y’all tried shedding from your Miata?

My car came OEM without PS, AC, Cruise control, Electric windows, or electric mirrors. I’ve swapped some OEM components for lighter options such as bucket seats and RPF1 wheels. I don’t wanna go full racecar though, I’d ideally wanna keep my carpet and door cards, etc. How deep in the weight reduction rabbit hole are you?

This is how your seatbelt should be routed through a fixed-back bucket seat btw (read caption)

I see too many people here chuck a bucket seat in their Miata without routing the seatbelt correctly. If you lay the seatbelt OVER the side bolstering instead of passing it through the holes, it lays over your squishy intestines instead of your bony hips, thereby digging into your body in an accident. The top/diagonal strap of the belt should NOT be passed through the harness hole because it positions it too close to your neck and can cause injuries. Ideally the top strap of a seatbelt shouldn’t be touching the shoulder of a bucket seat at all because it will stress the seat in an accident, but in a Miata that’s unfortunately just a risk we have to take due to the relatively low top seatbelt anchors :(
TLDR: route the belt through the lower harness holes, not over the seat bolstering.
