I'm a self taught HVAC hack and backyard mechanic. My son bought this car last Christmas and we've had to do a few things.

The AC compressor had a gaping hole in it so we did compressor, drier and expansion valve. It took the better part of two days but we got it done and feel great. We live in North Carolina, there's three months of 90+ in front of us.

If you turn a wrench, the job was about $350 in parts and $120 in cheap AC tools.

Someone gave me two very nice, 30 lb propane tanks expired in 2010. Lots of places will test and certify steel ones but not aluminum.

If you've managed to get this done, what kind of place did it? It's outside the realm of regular propane and RV services

My son starts UNC Greensboro in the Fall. Following the recent story about moving the NC State polling site off campus, i started looking into where and how my son might vote.

The NC Board of Elections has a site to find your polling place (LINK). but when i enter the address of a residence hall, or the main campus, there are no results.

I checked it against my home address and the site works fine.

ICE is funded for three years. None of the mask and body cam guardrails were put in place.

They know the midterms might go badly so they don't want to make it worse but after that the gloves are off.

Congress has no power to stop ICE other than not funding other stuff. Court orders mean nothing if there is no enforcement mechanism.

So, how can the few remaining levers of power be used to get some control?

I'm thinking, threat of prosecution after 2028 might disrupt recruiting and retention?

Trumps' legacy and the White Nationalist agenda are two separate things. He does not want republican political victory after him. He'd rather see it collapse and then claim it could not go one without him. Then he holds court at Mar a Lago and continues to be a Red State King maker with the base. Of course, no one think he'll live that long but he does.

I am older than ATMs and I have never seen a financial institution shut down for more than a couple hours.

I have four checking accounts i manage (father of teens) this is annoying but at other times in my life it would have been a bigger problem.

Anyone know what they're doing ?

EDIT: Sorry, i was not clear. I knew they were doing it. I am not used to these things taking so long.

I suppose a serious prepper would think about this all the time.

As global fuel shortage worsens and we enter hurricane season, I think an East Coast fuel shortage is possible.

Apparently, when prices are high US producers sell more fuel offshore. We see the price at the pump but we don't see the tightness of the supply chain.

If a gulf refinery or pipeline goes offline we could see a surge in panic buying and dead gas pumps until the system catches up.

THen you find yourself facing another hurricane and no way to evacuate.

Besides 10 gal. for the lawn mower, gas is a PITA to store.
