Anyone try Pregablin?

Psychiatrist at the CMHT said he will prescribe me Pregablin if current meds aren’t working, which they aren’t.

However I’ve seen some newspaper articles about how dangerous Pregablin can be. I’m scared of becoming dependent on it, but I’ve tried so many meds and they either don’t work or give me terrible side effects.

Has anyone here on Pregablin? Do you like the drug?

Updated my CV and had over 20 calls from recruiters this morning. Is the market really this hot?

Updated my CV on CV Library and my phone has been going off all morning. Is the market really this hot right now?

I had to hide my profile due to the absurd amount of calls, but they’re still coming through.

Not all are recruiters, some are HR directors of smaller contractors.

Anyone else with a similar experience?

It can get better. Thank you CMHT Psychiatry!

I was miserable for years and basically felt either totally crap or nothing at all, mostly nothing at all really. My anxiety was so bad I couldn’t eat or sleep and had to quit every job I got after 6 months due to being in a permanent panic attack.

Had a bunch of failed antidepressant trials, and was basically spiralling. Saw the psychiatrist at the CMHT and he prescribed me Busirpone with Pregablin and Mirtazapine for sleep after a few appointments and adjustments. I also got diagnosed with ADHD and started taking Concerta.

Now I basically feel like a new man, every day is exciting and I love life! I love my job, I love my girlfriend, I’m so glad I’m alive every day to experience the joy of living.

I’m 32 and have had a terrible life up to now, but the meds work, and yes I take a lot but it’s incredible. I can actually sleep, my brain and body recover, I’m not in a chronic panic attack like I used to be.

Basically what I’m saying is it can get better. For me I found the medications that work. You might find that CBT really helps, or you might also try a medication or get a diagnosis that changes your whole life.

Even if things are bad now they can get better.

I’m also really thankful for this community, I don’t think any of us want to be here but I’m so glad there’s people out there who can empathise with what we are going through and offer advice.

16 weeks for psychiatrist review after initial appointment?

Just got a letter from the CMHT and it states the psychiatrists will see me in 16 weeks for a review. Is this normal?

Can I contact them sooner if I’m tolerating the meds well and would like to try a higher dose?

I’m in no danger to myself or others as it’s for anxiety, so fairly low priority I get it but 16 weeks wait time seems terrifying to me.

What’s the best modern edition of the Vulgate Bible?

Looking for what Vulgate Bible edition to buy. Done some research online but seems like a minefield.

I can read Latin reasonably well but wanted to practice more. Saw that the vulgate is meant to be fairly easy to comprehend for someone with mid level mastery of the language, so would like to try it.

What edition should I purchase? I’m most interested in the New Testament if that helps.

I think I found my old cat that ran away two years ago. Can I just pick her up and take her home?

Pics attached, does it look like the same cat to you?

The old cat was a girl, and so is the cat I saw today. Old cat was very friendly and so was the cat I saw on the street. When I waked up to her she started rubbing herself on me and started purring. I first I didn’t think it was my cat, but it’s been two years and I think their coat can change?

Their noses look exactly the same to me. My girlfriend is convinced it’s our cat that ran away, but I’m 10% doubtful.

Basically, can I just pick this cat up and bring her back home with me if I seriously believe it’s our old cat? She had a part of her tail missing and looked quite dirty.

Anyone else get a stiff neck on stimulants?

Been having a stiff neck that feels very tight. Anyone else have this? Brought it up to my prescriber and he said I should take more breaks when I work, but it feels like muscle tension.

Any way to make it better?

Is it worth chasing a masters conversion course at 32?

I work as a Quantity Surveyor for a medium sized railway contractor and the option to do a masters has come up. I kind of fell into this career and I already have a BA and an MA in history.

It has felt like I already wasted too much of my life on university, as I took 4 years to get my BA and then add another year for my MA. I didn’t do well in school due to ADHD and took 4 years to work my way up to even be able to do a uni degree.

I’m now 32 and my job had offered to sponsor a formal qualification in Quantity Surveying. It costs around £12k and they would cover it. It would take two years studying from home while still working, and this would mean I would spend around 50-55 hours a week on work / study.

It would open up the door to getting charted, which bumps your salary by around 20% instantly.

If you were in my position, would you do it? Am I too old now?

At what point does a person take too many medications?

At what point does a person take too many meds?

I take:
Methylphenidate 54mg + 18mg booster as needed
Melatonin 2mg for sleep
Mirtazapine 30mg for mood and sleep
Buspirone 5mg 3 times a day
Then I occasionally take Diazepam 5mg if I’m having a bad day.

All are prescribed by relevant people.

Is this polypharmacy? How many medications are you on?

What do you spend your time on when you are not working?

By “not working” I include all aspects of things that we must do to live, such as cooking, cleaning or showering.

I’ve noticed that I’ll do all the bits I have to do, but then proceed to feel empty when I have “free time”.

How do you occupy yourself when you run out of “productive” things to do? Anyone else struggle with this?

Cufflink shirt in an office?

Bought a shirt for the office but didn’t realise it was double cuff. Is wearing cufflink shirts to the office a bit much?

I work in construction finance management, and the dress code is office smart. No one wears cufflink shirts.

If I turned up wearing that would it come off as performative? I just like the shirt but don’t want to come off as pretentious.

Anyone try Busiprone?

Saw the psychiatrist at the CMHT for anxiety and he prescribed me Busiprone 5mg three times a day, and also gave me seven 5mg diazepam tablets for bad days.

Has anyone tried Busiprone? I’ve never heard of this drug before today. What does it feel like? I know it will take a few weeks to work, but how long did it take for you to notice it?

Diazepam is the only drug that has made me feel “normal”, but I know it’s not a long term strategy.

I also take Concerta 54mg for ADHD if that matters and mirtazapine for mood / sleep issues.

He also said he might try low dose antipsychotics if this doesn’t work but that sounds quite scary.

Feedback appreciated
