I made a Cyberpunk Western! (read left to right)

When I think of Cyberpunk, it's usually the mega city structures that come to mind, with asphalt and neon lights everywhere. But I have always enjoyed this genre when it mixed in the aesthetics of a western.

Help me decide please!

I'm currently working on a set of stickers for my upcoming comic, but I can't decide between those three designs. Which of these speaks to you the most? (:

I made my first ever science fiction comic (with western vibes) Happy to hear your thoughts!

I have always been fascinated by science fiction settings that at first glance look old-fashioned, but clearly have hints or signs of a more futuristic technology. My favourite combination being cowboy/bounty hunter mixed with robots, spaceships and big guns (like Cowboy Bebop, East of West, Firefly). Especially with how the world feels at the moment, the idea to hop in your space ship, or jump on your robotic horse and just travel with no purpose is the kind of escapism I need.

What are your favourite stories that have a space cowboy-esque setting?

I made a manga inspired by Cowboy Bebop! (read left to right)

Something I've always loved about Cowboy Bebop - and which keeps me coming back to rewatch it ever so often - is the vibes: Jazz music paired with a futuristic setting and classic Western-esque bounty hunters. I don't know many other stories that I would just refer to as "vibes".

I love how short and self-contained the anime & manga are, but sometimes I do wish we got a few more adventures with the characters or something similar... and that's why I made my own story inspired by it. (:

I made a manga inspired by Trigun! (read left to right)

Trigun is one of those manga where the world had me as much intrigued as the characters themselves. I love how it starts as just a classic western story with its vast deserts and endless skies, but as you learn more about it, it becomes more and more Science Fiction. Yet, never felt mismatched.

And that is something that inspired me when I made this manga as well. I really wanted to capture the vibe of No Man's Land, where it feels old-school with a few hints of futuristic technology.

SF Retelling of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid

Peckinpah’s Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is my favourite western. The conflict between lawless freedom and the encroaching capitalist control inspired me to put my own spin on it with a science fiction retelling.

DEADLINE | a Science Fiction retelling of Pat Garret and Billy the Kid

Pat Garret and Billy the Kid is one of my favourite westerns. When coming up with the idea for my second comic, it inspired me to draw a retelling with my own style and touches to the story.

A few pages from DEADLINE | trying to learn how to draw manga

(read from left to right)

I'm still learning how to effectively use sfx and screentone.
Those of you drawing in CSP, do you tend to use screentone brushes or the layer effect?
