[Junkers Bauhaus Automatic] German engineering, one budget

Just wanted to share a quick review of my Junkers Bauhaus Automatic (Ref. 6060-5). I’ve been wearing it on and off for a while now, and it’s a really interesting piece, but definitely has its pros and cons.

The main reason to buy this watch is the simplicity and legibility. For under $300 preowned you are getting a lot for the money.

The cream dial is very clean, and even with the power reserve indicator and the 24-hour sub-dial, it never feels busy or hard to read. On the wrist, the wearability is great. It is very light weight, but the best part is the case design. The lugs tilt sharply downward, which helps the watch sit completely flat and flush on the arm without any awkward gaps at all.

However, I am really not a big fan of the factory leather strap. It feels a bit bland, stiff, and cheap compared to the watch itself. The biggest issue for me, though, is the heavily domed crystal. It looks beautiful and vintage, but it is made of hesalite, so it scratches very easily. If you accidentally bump a door frame or desk, you WILL get a scuff. Mine already has some edge scuffs at 8 and 11 O'clock . I could try to polish it out with polywatch, but it is definitely high maintenance.

Overall, it is not a bad watch at all. It runs a reliable Miyota automatic movement and has great style. But because of the scratch-prone crystal and dressier look, it likely won't be a daily driver for me. It’s more of a specific choice for office days or cleaner outfits.

Anyone else daily a Bauhaus style watch? Did you swap the strap? Let me know!

Oriorwaith Sarnowski Y Sgowt

Wanted to share my latest piece because I’m honestly blown away. It is from a microbrand called Oriorwaith J. Sarnowski (Y Sgowt model). I’ve had it for a bit now, and usually I can find something I don't like about a watch... but with this one? Weirdly, I got nothing. May be the brand name in can mot figure out how to pronounce ! Ha ha ha

First, the purple dial is incredible. The texture looks like cracked stone or old parchment, completely one of a kind. In the sunlight, the purple color just pops beautifully against the sharp white indices.

The case proportions are perfect for me. It sits totally flat on the wrist, very comfortable. The bracelet is a multi-link style (with screw links) that feels super premium, very flexible, and it has an easy-change system. The clasp has a beautiful script signature engraved on it too.

Turn it over, and the exhibition caseback is crazy for a watch at this price. It has a completely custom, unusual skeletonized rotor that lets you see the gold-tone movement finishing underneath. Even the crown has a nice blue inlaid logo on the side. The attention to detail screams "passion project."

Also, dealing with the brand owner, Jan, was amazing. I purchased the watch pre launch and it was like the last piece left. I got the blue dial as well The customer support is very responsive, he genuinely cares about the hobbyist community.

Honestly, the quality feels way, way above its price bracket. It’s rare to find an independent watch where you can tell it was built with true love and passion.

Anyone else here familiar with Sarnowski’s work? What do you think of the dial?

[Muhle Glashütte Germanika]

I picked up this Mühle Glashütte Germanika I Chronograph a while back and sat in my watch box for a while, primarily as i needed to resize the bracelet which has that double sided screw and screw cap. Too lazy to do it . However finally i got to donit and WOW, Now this BMer (hahah) honestly, it is easily locking itself in as a permanent GADA watch for me.

The silver-on-silver look is incredibly clean and punchy in person. For a chunky German chronograph packing a modified Valjoux 7750 base, the legibility is just phenomenal. Usually, these sub-dials get cluttered, but the contrast here is so sharp that reading the time, running seconds, or checking that crisp date window at 4 o'clock is effortless.

The build quality is exactly what you expect from Glashütte tool watchmaking. The finishing on the steel case is top-tier, the pushers have a heavy, mechanical snap to them, and the integrated bracelet balances out the case weight beautifully on the wrist. It has that rare "built like a tank but looks like a dress piece" vibe. Everything feels premium, robust, and completely ready for daily abuse.

Any Muhle fans out there ?

[Selectron] The Power Dive – A rare "Pepsi" complication that actually stays in the rotation

I wanted to share a piece that has been a mainstay in my collection for a few years now: the Selectron Power Dive. The Selectron name originally gained fame in the 1960s through its close ties to Ollech & Wajs and their iconic "computer" slide-rule watches. While the brand has evolved over the decades, this modern iteration leans heavily into that heritage of tool-first engineering, trading the vintage slide rules for a more robust diving aesthetic.

Under the hood, it’s powered by the Seiko NE57A automatic movement, which brings a 21,600 bph beat rate and a very cool central power reserve complication along with a pointer date at the six o'clock position. The 200m water resistance and the classic "Pepsi" bezel make it a officially a Diver, while the textured waffle dial adds some great depth that really catches the light.

I’ll be honest—I’m usually not a fan of power reserve indicators, as they often feel like an afterthought that clutters the dial. However, on this model, the central hand layout gives it a technical, instrument-like feel that just works. What really keeps this in my rotation is the physical presence; it has a fantastic heft and the bracelet is surprisingly comfortable. It’s been running strong at about +11 s/d since I acquired it a few years back, and despite having a large collection to choose from, this remains one of my most frequent go-to pieces.

Seiko Time!

They say all watches tell time, but very few "Tell A Time."

I’ve had this Seiko franken-mod in my collection for almost 10 years now. Looking at my watch box, it isn't the flashiest, the most complicated, or even close to the most expensive. It certainly isn’t the most unique.

And yet, it is—by far—the watch that sees the most wrist time. There is something about this yellow dial and blue GMT bezel combo that just hits differently. It has been my companion through a decade of daily life.

Recently, the original stock bracelet finally gave up the ghost—it was stretched out, and the clasp wouldn't stay shut. I decided to refresh it with this solid-end link Jubilee from Amazon, and the difference is night and day. It feels like a brand-new watch, yet it still carries every scratch and scuff from the last ten years.

Sometimes you don't connect with a watch because of the specs, the brand prestige, or the movement accuracy. Sometimes it’s just... love.

Long live the Seiko 5 spirit!

[Seiko Alpinist] The original SARB017

Finally giving the Alpinist some well-deserved wrist time today. I’ve had this for about three years now, and while it doesn’t always make the daily cut in a large rotation, it’s the definitive "Watch of the Day" for today.

This is a late-production 2017 model (6R15-00E1), and looking at that sunburst green dial against the gold cathedral hands, it’s easy to see why these became cult icons after they were discontinued. It’s a weird watch on paper—a mountain-climbing tool with a 20-bar rating that looks like it belongs in a Victorian library—but on the wrist, it just works.

I know a lot of people obsess over the 6R15’s accuracy, but honestly, I couldn't care less. Since I rarely wear a piece for more than 12 hours at a time, "close enough" is plenty. And as for that compass bezel? Like everyone else, I just treat it as a high-end fidget spinner. My phone is 1,000 times more accurate for navigation, but it doesn't look nearly as cool as that internal ring gliding around the dial.

There’s something satisfying about having the full kit (box and papers) for a piece that has appreciated so much, but at the end of the day, it’s just a fun, rugged, slightly eccentric green watch that still stands out in a sea of divers.

Anyone else rocking an Alpinist this weekend?

[Eberhard Tazio] The weekender!

Eberhard & Co. is one of those sleeper Swiss brands that’s been around since the late 1800s, but they’ve stayed independent and off the beaten path. This piece is a tribute to Tazio Nuvolari, and while the history is cool, the physical presence is what actually sells it for me.

The first thing you notice is that perlage finishing on the bezel and dial. Usually, that’s hidden deep inside the movement, but bringing it to the surface gives the watch a metallic, engine-turned look that catches the light like nothing else in my box. It’s got a personality that stands out without being loud.

On the wrist, it hits that sweet spot of being substantial enough to feel like a high-end tool, yet slim enough to be genuinely comfortable all day. The red accents against the black dial give it a sharp, sporty edge that works perfectly with the leather strap. It’s a rock-solid automatic that feels unique—you aren't going to run into three other guys wearing one at the park.

It’s been a great weekend pick for me. It’s durable enough to handle the "dad duties" of a busy Saturday, but the style is refined enough that it doesn't feel out of place if you’re heading out for a nice dinner. It’s just a versatile, high-utility piece that offers something a bit different from the usual suspects.

Any fellow Eberhard'ers out there ?

[Hamilton] Friday Vibe

I’ve had this piece for 15 years now, and I’m still impressed by it every time I strap it on. There’s something about that American DNA—it’s simple, purposeful, but feels incredibly elegant.

What really keeps it in the rotation for me is the profile. It sits perfectly flat on the wrist, making it one of the most comfortable wears I own. The silver sunburst dial is a total light-catcher, and after a decade and a half, the reliability has been bulletproof. It’s still running as strong as day one.

It’s a great reminder that you don't need a five-figure "luxury" piece to get something that lasts a lifetime and looks this sharp.

After a decade and a half I replaced the worn strap. Can not be happier with the refresher !

Sitting at the gate waiting on my flight and realized how much I appreciate having this thing on the wrist when traveling.

It’s the Hamilton Intra-Matic Auto Chrono (the 40mm reverse panda version), and I've got it on a tan leather strap right now. I know people always talk about these being a bit thick on paper at around 14.5mm, but in reality, the case shape handles the height well, and it sits flat enough to easily clear a shirt cuff.

For me, it’s just a great, reliable companion for a work trip. It has a vintage 60s vibe but is modern enough that I don't have to baby it while running through terminals or tossing bags around. The blue dial with the off-white sub-dials catches the airport lighting perfectly.

Safe travels to anyone else currently stuck at a gate!

The ultimate tool and the marvel of German engineering. I like Sinn for its simplicity yet elegant. That black dial and floating hands with the carefully placed date window with again black background makes it unbelievably sophisticated yet practical.

I do enjoy how it sits on the wrist with the short lugs. Have not tried the bracelet configuration yet but sure it will be equally impressive

I like German engineered watches. GO, Sinn, Nomos, Muhle, etc. You get a lot for your money compared to swiss brands in the same price range. This particular Sinn has a cult follower and I can see why.

Enjoy!

Here is something different. A mix of mechanical and electric led based timepiece. The brand itself is Swiss but you bet made in China . Nevertheless it is different and interesting. And for under $400 new not bad !

The watch is a bet bulky and sits high on the wrist which is annoying for medium to small size wrist , the LED light is kind of a gimmick tbh .

I wish if it was slimmer and has some lume on the hands., Strap is OK for the price.

Any experience with the brand? If so, what is your opinion?

Originally came on bracelet, nah, let us make this baby a Lil sporty . Getting the Friday vibe already on this Capeland MOA08329

B&M is an interesting brand, I found there watches to be really good value with unique designs. . Their Clifton Club line has several high end dress watches that do compete with much higher priced watches. The iconic Rivera that made the integrated bracelet a thing, etc.

The brand does not have the prestige or the name recognition in part due to Richmont strategy that extracted the baumatic out of the brand and made it a common feature in other brands. I wish if it gets more love though, it is a very good value proposition

It was a thing, ThORISday .

Few watch brands had the same level of innovation, design excellence, solid builds, and varieties as Oris in the 1990' - 2000' . It was certainly the golden age of modern watch industry and specifically for Oris. I have several examples of late 90 early 2000 Oris watches and each has its own charechter, beauty and utility. Something happened in the industry mid 2015 where everywatch became a dive watch. Can not figure out what but it is kind of booooring !!

Thr amazingbpart is you pick unbelievable great 1990 watches in decent condition at very reasonable price to scratch the itch. I do

Happy ThOrisday everyone !

I picked up this watch recently, it is nice with a unique personality and seems to be well built. Not fan of the leather strap though. Was interested in thr racing theme which I think it did well.

Would have like a slimmer case and maybe lumed numerals or something but certainly a different strap, which is an easy fix

Do you have an experience with this MB?

TAG is one of the brands that gets mixed feedback. It is like that middle distant cousin people do not remember but if someone mention them the answer is usually " yeah, that too"

I am not into 'Heritage' watch debate, does not matter to me of the brand was founded by a caveman in BC time or a microbrand that started last month. It is about the value and the innovation it brings. For me, TAG is a good value, especially in the pre owned space. For under 2K you get a lot for the money. And even their Carerra line is interesting , not my cup of tea but still I acknowledge it has a respectable value

What do you think ?
