Red bolt & blue steel produced interresting babies

I have few caridina tanks and I've put 5 red bolts into blue steel cull colony (some almost panda-ish in there) just to see what happends. After 3 months 90% of babies look like small blue steels, some like pandas, which was expected... but.

Some of them look like they have some parts of bodies red and some blue. I have never seen red-blue shrimp. Also some have very orange, almost neon eyes. They are just 4 days old tho.

I hope they will not change compeltely in a week :D

What day is next? Soonday

Well, the game fest was a bust. We need a new day to obsess over again. My horoscope for today said “Today's Moon in Gemini is doing some research into vocabulary and brought forth a new word: Soonday. Nothing else has the description of that day.” So I have a feeling it’s Soonday...

I upgraded ram without changing custom timings and it works?

I had Kingston 2x8GB DDR5 kit which I was running on "Hynix buildzoid timings" 6000MT cl30-38-38-68, 1:1, 2000 FCLK.

Now I upgraded to Kingston 2x32GB kit which is advertised as 6000MT cl36 and I expected the motherboard to just choose the default 4800 speeds when detecting different memory kit, but no..

It kept all the timings and voltages from the 2x8GB and applied it to 2x32GB with no issues. Training is bit longer but thats it.

I have tested it with 6+ hours of overnight Karhu Ram test, 40 passes of Linpack and 2 hour Ycruncher and no errors nor big deviations.

The cl36 kit seems to just run cl30 at 6000 with no voltage increase (1.35V).

Is this normal Hynix A die behaviour or did I just won silicon lottery? Why would Kingston sell it as cl36? Why not 34 or 32 or even 30? Are there any hidden special stability functions (like GDM) that are faking my stability and low cl or is it really that easy with this kit?

Foldable racing seat as a VR cockpit? - Playseat Challenge X

Hello!

I'm getting into VR and since I love fighter planes and dogfighting, I want to connect those two. For big airliners and chill flights I can still sit at my PC.

I want to build simple, preferably foldable (I do not have big room) VR flight sim rig. I do not need physical panels (yet hehe) and basically all I need is the seat with some way to fix my VKB Gladiator, Logitech G Saitek and random throttle quadrant. It would be awesome to take it apart in few minutes and tuck it under my bed. - This does not exist in flight sim space but it does exist in racing simulators.

My local shop has Playseat Challenge X in stock and that looks like something I could use. I have 3D printer and CAD skills so for me it looks doable, but... I dont know about the ergonomy. I need to look around a lot (with a headset) and I'm not sure about the angle of the seat and if I can have joystick between my legs if I extend it 5-10cm.

Has anybody here tried this? Any ideas, tips or places where I can gather more info on cockpit dimensions, seat angle etc.?

Thanks!

Time to repaste? My 4070 Ti goes 83° in full load.

I have old Asus TUF 4070 Ti which temps I did not check for years and now I am building VR sim setup with 5080 and this new card is much better in therms of temps and accoustics.

Is this the right time to take the old card apart and repaste it? I have extra Duronaut. I do not remember how were the temps when this 4070 Ti was new tho..

Test: FurMark 1440p

Asus TUF 4070 Ti - reached 83°C core, 104°C hotspot, fans screaming at 100%, 280W

Gainward Phoenix RTX 5080 is only 71°C, hotspot not reported, fans at 75%, 360W

Isn't this too low for 9800X3D?

My 9800X3D system is acting wierdly, VT3 stress test shows the same speed as for 9600X cpu. Both systems have the same ram (6000 cl30 32gb) so is that the bottleneck or is there really something wrong?

SOLVED: Looks like size of alocated memory plays a huge role here. Lowering memory allocation to under 20GB boosted the speed, now I'm getting 1.15 x 10^10 ±0.01. Also enabling ram bank hash bumped it up a little. However anything 20GB+ brings it back down to 10^9 range.

June 1st is the date.

It just makes the most sense. Controller was released on 1st Monday of month on May 4th.

VR content creators already recieved their units, some (Gamertag VR) recieved email explicitly saying "next month". Game devs are already testing their sets.

June 1st is in next month and it is the first Monday of June.

I hope June 1st is tommorow... I didn't check my calendar out of spite and anxiety for a while. Pls don't tell me.

IPD concerns of a hammerhead shark

Hello!

I have IPD around 73 mm and I have been using Quest 3 with no abnormal eye strain. Image is wide and clear, even tho mechanical range of Q3 is maxed at 70 mm. The pancake lenses help here a lot. There are number of software and hardware reasons I want to switch to Frame, picture quality isn't one of them tho.

Steam Frame has IPD range 60-70 mm in the specs - is that the mechanical range? It would mean that Q3 and Frame have the same range and both have pancake lenses, so I'm ok I guess? Has enybody here compared the size of lenses Q3 vs Frame? Or even better, is there some Sid from Ice Age that had the privilege to try Frame at Valve?

ADA v1 alternative in EU

So today I finished my last bag of ADA v1 and this time I really cannot find more online. What are good alternatives to old gold amazonia?

I would like the pH to go under 6, I'm having good results with that for Caridina and the low pH is one of the reasons shrimp breeders loved it. I tried INVITAL soil but that settles at 6.4. Perfect for high tech planted tank, but not the same effect as amazonia

Are these Linpack results ok?

I have this system with Asus TUF B650 board with 9800X3D and Hynix A-die 6000 cl30 2x16 g.skill ram kit. I sometimes hear audio cracking at startup and when starting high load tests (on external usb soundcard tho), but not during normal use/gaming. This cracking can be heard even on default fresh/expo BIOS. I have no crashes and overnight Karhu RAM test is ok.

So I ran multiple Linpack stress tests in safe mode and I always see first result higher, then random dips about 1-1.5 GFlops, which is not much, BUT... I have another PC with Sapphire Nitro+ B850M and 9600X and Linpack on this one is super solid, biggest jump was 0.7 over several hours and also there are no audio cracks. Is my infinity fabric on 9800X3D correcting errors even on 1800-2000 fclk?

Bad GPU? DisplayPorts have limited resolution, but HDMi is ok

I have bought second hand Evga RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra and I installed it into new PC. There were no nvidia drivers installed before, coz it ran on Ryzen 9600x iGPU up to this point. The Nvidia GPU chip itself seems to be fine. It needs new paste, but I can hit over 350W (400W on OC profile) and Furmark runs fine without any artifacting or crashing.

Now the problem - all 3 DisplayPorts are limited to resolutions 800x600 and 1024x768 60Hz. HDMI works well at it's maximum 1440p 144Hz. Since I plugged this GPU into my system, even the integrated AMD graphics has limited resolution on DP now? How? I tried different monitor and cable combos and it has shown some different resolutions, but none were 16:9 and over 60Hz.

I have tried:

-reinstalling new gpu drivers

-DDU clean & older drivers

-fresh Windows 11 installation

-custom resolutions in nvidia panel (screen goes black)

-tried different cable and monitor

-visualy checked the GPU - found no damage

-updated bios

Is it possible something is damaged on this GPUs board or motherboard? Does motherboards DP have something in common with GPUs DP? Or is driver/os glitch more likely here?

Old EVGA 3080 Ti cannot change resolution

I bought second hand EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra and I installed it into PC which has been running only on AMD integrated graphics up to this point.

The gpu looks fine, shows all the right numbers, draws up to 400W in FurMark (which is correct), but I cannot change the resolution nor refresh rate. It can only do 1024 x 768 60Hz.

But wierd stuff does not end there - the integrated AMD gpu also has beatiful limited resolution of 640x480 now when the nvidia is plugged in. When I try to test custom resolution, the screen goes black.

I know this sounds like obvious drivers problem, so I uninstalled both AMD and Nvidia with DDU, then installed latest nvidia drivers. No change, still cannot go to native 1440p :(

Is this GPU dying somehow or time to reinstall windows?
