05 Sierra SLE- Keep or Sell

I've hit a dilemma with my 05 Sierra 1500. It is now mechanically totalled. This truck has been in my family for like 9 years now and I took ownership of it 3 years ago. The transmission has been doing funny things for a while now and I've discovered that the engine is not too good either. I was replacing the knock sensors and while putting the valley cover gasket on I seen that every visible cam lobe is completely trashed. It looks like someone took a grinder to the lobes. I do the oil changes every 3k and recently the last couple have been glittery.

The transmission is constantly locking and unlocking the torque converter. I have no idea how to even start fixing that. It's had regular fluid services every 50k miles according to the carfax. It's the 4L60 so I think it's dying.

The brakes are fucked. It's got all new pads (and rotors),shoes, calipers, wheel cylinders, and fluid but it absolutely will not stop good. I think it needs a booster because it hisses real bad when I press the pedal.

It's also rusty as hell. Ever since I've acquired it the body has been falling apart. I recently found out that the interior trim could be considered structural. At this point I'd would need to dump a lot of money into a truck that clearly just wants to die. I've tried keeping it alive and working but I feel like I'm in over my head on this one. Is it time to let go?

Will the water pump pulley from a 7.3 Powerstroke work on the 7.3 IDI?

Picked up a replacement engine for my $500 83 F350 IDI and the new engine is missing the water pump pulley. Can I just use one off a Powerstroke?

Will any cab (83-95) fit a Bullnose?

My cab is like Swiss cheese on my 83 F350. I've seen some fairly clean Aeronose trucks that are single cab (like mine). Will a Brick/Aeronose cab fit or am I stuck looking for a Bullnose cab? I can't find some of the metalwork I need to fix the rust.

$500 6.9 IDI

Picked this bad boy up last weekend. 83 F350 2wd 4 speed manual. Body is completely shot. Frame is in surprisingly good condition. Inside smells like straight hantavirus. Motor is rusted from sitting for 25 years and won't roll over. I'm pulling the heads off to do headgaskets (common early 6.9 problem) and to get the motor freed up. Rear axle has a locked up brake. I had to ram it into the driveway with my GMC.

Honda GCV160 Keeps Breaking Pull Starts

Hi as per the title my mower keeps breaking the pull starts. It acts like it has too much compression. It'll roll over and as soon as it hits the compression stroke it stops and rips the cord out of my hand. I have to nudge the motor out of the compression stroke to start it. Once it leaves the compression stroke it starts just fine. How can I fix this? I'm on my 4th pull start and I'm tired of replacing them. Mower does this on cold start and at operating temp.

Got my first Diesel!

83 F350 6.9 IDI 4 Speed 2WD. Motor has ring ridges so hopefully I can get it turned over but worst case scenario it get an engine in rebuild. The only other diesel I have ever touched before this one is the Cummins X15 in "my" class 8 rig. Body has a lot of rot but the frame seemed ok except for a couple of spots. This will mainly be a tow/pull pig for cars and shit and a winter vehicle since my miata (not pictured) is not allowed to go in the snow.

It's hard to believe that I've only owned this thing for 6 months

It only had 41 mi when I picked it up. Life sure does go by fast when you drive your car a lot.

IL RTE 3 going towards Alton has several state troopers doing inspections

Avoid Rte 3 and take 255. The troopers are stooping every rig that passes through.

AR5 in a ECSB?

I gots a 05 Sierra extended cab short bed and I want to manual swap. I want to build it as more of a muscle truck so it's gonna be shifting at higher rpms. I've read that the NV3500s can't handle the power of the LM7 for long and the NV4500s hate shifting at high rpms. Which brings me to the AR5. I know that this is a huge undertaking and I'm prepared for the fuckery that will happen when I go to put it in. That being said, is it a good idea to run this transmission in such a heavy vehicle? I'm trying to keep it as a budget build so the Firebird and Camaro transmissions are a no go since they cost too much and my local junkyards have none. If the AR5 isn't adequate for what I want to do with it then what can I run instead? I'm not going back to auto.

I am yanking the 5.3 out of my Sierra so I can reseal it. I am also taking the block to a machine shop for cam bearings so I can put a nice choppy cam in it. What else should I do while in there or what should I do to the engine bay? It needs a brake booster so that's on the list.
