Vintage and Neo-vintage VC

I’m a new 4520V owner and now I’m thinking about adding a vintage or Neo-vintage VC piece at a discount on the secondary market. Did getting a new piece kickstart an interest in the brand and a similar journey for anyone else? If so, curious what pieces you looked at / added from the back catalog.

I find myself really loving this piece and looking at an opportunity to own other VCs given the brand doesn’t retain value as well on the secondary market.

Shore to Please

Blue SMP on OG bracelet. There is just nothing better for the beach. It is absolutely pure class and a thing of beauty in its natural element.

Surprise 4520V Allocation?

Was at the boutique earlier this week checking in and my SA said it will still take some time. Then today I get a call that they have a watch for me.

I thought typically Geneva allocates a watch and they take a deposit weeks before the watch actually arrives.

Isn’t this rather strange?

Aqua Terra GMT

Why doesn’t Omega make this watch? It would be amazing. This is obviously a relatively crappy Gemini generated version but some type of understated GMT like this would be killer.

Short Hills Boutique

Curious if anyone has a good experience there? I don’t go to this mall often so when I’m there I like to look at pieces at various boutiques and at least twice now when I’ve tried to enter I’ve been stopped by the door security guy who refuses to let me in saying they are at capacity while the store is visibly empty. Sure, people could be picking up watches in the lounge rooms in the back but it’s a straight up Rolex move that you can’t even walk in and look at the pieces on display.

I had heard bad things about the NYC boutique but not much about this boutique so was curious about other experiences. My experience at the NYC boutique was much more welcoming by comparison.

Which Overseas for my collection

I’m on the list for a Blue 4520V but am questioning how it fits in my collection and am strongly considering swapping for a Black 7920V. My current collection:

Omega SMP 300M Blue
Rolex Explorer 40
Omega Speedmaster White Dial
Omega Silver Snoopy 50th Speedmaster

I obviously like blue watches and I agree that the VC blue is the best but I really like the SMP and the Snoopy came after I registered for the 4520V. I have no desire to move on from Snoopy and I also really really the SMP. The wave dial is also really nice.

I am on the list for a Rolex GRNR GMT and my AD has suggested I will get an allocation by years end.

That said, I’ve been thinking about skipping the Rolex GMT altogether and going for the 7920V instead. I would also sell the Explorer and use the SMP as my “tool” / “beater”.

What do you think of this plan?

The other option would be to move on from the SMP and the Explorer and go with the blue 7920V and a different Black dial diver. Though like I said I really like the SMP.

I just feel black dial is the most versatile and works with any suit more than a blue dial. I just worry about being upset about “missing out” on the VC blue over time…

Is the Modern Worth It?

Recently had a phenomenal meal at Per Se but find myself really wanting to try eggs on eggs on eggs. How does the rest of the meal at the Modern compare to Per Se? I’m mainly wondering if the rest is underwhelming and if so if it’s worth the $275 just to try that dish?

Snoopy for Celebration Dinner

Having a celebratory dinner tonight for a work milestone and had to go with the Snoopy for this Speedy Tuesday as a nod to the restaurant’s famous blue door.

Per Se Lamb Alternatives

Going to Per Se this week and very excited. I was last there 16 years ago. I believe that lamb is often served as the main savory meat course. I’m not the biggest fan of it mainly due to a preference to not eat young animals, but also due to the gamey flavor, though I will eat it on special occasions if it’s truly not a dish to miss. I recently had the Lamb Carrot at Core and did enjoy that though it’s more carrot than lamb at least visually.

Would it be a mistake to tell the restaurant I prefer not to eat it? What would they likely substitute for it?

Le Bernardin Lounge - Full Menu?

I recall that Le Bernardin used to offer the 4 course prix fixe menu in the lounge. Does anyone know for certain if that is still the case?
