H10 dropping connection sometimes

I've had my H10 since this summer and record with Strava on my phone. Lately during runs the connection goes away for a while and then comes back, and this happens every 2–3 minutes. Today there was 13 gaps in a 40-minute run.

My main suspect is the battery: usage is low, but I may have left the sensor clipped to the strap once. Still, it's unlikely I arrived at the 400 hours they say the battery will last for considering I only used it 3 times a week. What could be other explanations?

Did anybody else have this issue? How did you solve it?

Optimizing the fish to pond ratio

Suppose you are a prospective student of economics, and you need to choose what university to attend in undergrad. You want to do a PhD. You are more intelligent than average but not a genius.

Would you prefer to be the small fish in the big pond i.e. attend a target university where a lot of people are going to be competing for grades, RA positions, letters, and those opportunities that you can get in house in the university which can boost PhD admissions chances.

Or would it be better to be the big fish in the small pond, joining a university with a less competitive cohort, where you will become the local hero, RAing with the best professor in town etc.

I'm curious to learn your viewpoint on this issue.

Connecting heart rate data to Strava

Hello, I'm a runner using a polar h10 chest strap.

I use Strava for looking at my pace and distance. I would like to also see on the Strava app my heartbeat.

I synched the polar flow app with Strava but it won't let me see my heartbeat live on the Strava app.

Is it possible to see it in some way?

Strange feeling in shoulder during lateral raises

I started doing lateral raises and sometimes when I do them I can feel something moving in my shoulder. Like something shifting. During the movement, at a certain point I can feel something that resists and then shifts, making a bit of a noise also.

What could it be? Should I keep going with this exercise?

Accuracy of polar fitness test

I just got my h10 chest monitor. I did the resting fitness test and it estimates my vo2 max at 59.

I'm very skeptical. I think that I am a bit above average, maybe in the high 40s but at 59 I should be running marathons and I'm very far from that.

For reference I a 22 years old male, I started going on runs 2 times a week about 6 weeks ago and I have only done two sessions of interval training. Surely there is something wrong with the test.

How can I track my heartbeat?

I started doing cardio and I want to do intervals trainings. For this reason I would like to buy a device that tracks my heartbeat. My budget is quite low, let's say maximum 70 euros. I live in an EU country.

I was told that smartwatches, especially the cheap ones that I would be able to afford, are not reliable in tracking heartbeat. What device, brand and model, would you suggest me?

What is this hive?

Found in the window of a house in Italy. The wasps are big and seemingly nocturnal.

We had a mosquito net and they managed to cut it.

Will more sets per workout make me stronger?

Seems obvious enough but I have heard that for optimal muscle growth you actually shouldn't train too often because your muscles wouldn't develop and if you do 2 or 3 sessions a week per muscle group it's optimal but if you do more it's gonna hurt your gains

Does that apply also within a single training session i.e. if instead of 10 sets during a work out I do 20 would that workout be twice as effective, would there be decreasing returns or would that actually hurt my gains? If so, what is the optimum sets per workout that maximises gains?
