grapevine.isBoost keeps cancelling phone order
My husband is eligible for an upgrade and went through the Boost website last week to buy a new phone. First time the order didn't go through. Second time it wouldn't accept his credit card. Third time he used a different credit card and it went through, only to have them cancel it and lock his account from making purchases or changes. Customer service told him it would be locked for four days.
Today he called them directly to order his new phone and change plans. It seemed to go through with no problem, but he was just notified that they cancelled his order again. He called customer service and spoke to three different people, but nobody could explain why his orders keep getting cancelled. For those who've experienced this, how did you manage to buy your phone? Does he physically have to go in to a Boost store to get a new phone?
Lycanthropy in the Medieval Disability Glossary
I'm bored at work (college librarian, very few students on campus), so I'm going down a rabbit hole of scholarly reading about werewolves and came across this entry from the Society for the Study of Disability in the Middle Ages that discusses lycanthropy. This part in particular stood out to me:
"Becoming a Werewolf: The reasons for which a person (usually a man) becomes a werewolf in the medieval period vary. Sometimes an individual or group is punished with lycanthropy, although the reasons are not always known. Women are typically only transformed into werewolves in concert with their husbands, as in Gerald of Wales’ account. This trope of lycanthropy as punishment is in keeping with the classical model of Lycaon, who in Ovid’s Metamorphosis is transformed into a werewolf as a punishment for his inhospitality. More commonly, however, no reason is given for an individual’s lycanthropy in medieval texts. Furthermore, the contemporary popular treatment of lycanthropy as a contagious disease–the idea that a werewolf can turn others into werewolves by biting them–does not appear in the medieval period."
It will be interesting to see if some of the concepts discussed appear in the film. Here's the link in case anyone is interested in reading.

theguardian.comWhat's on your Icelandic music playlist?
I thought it might be fun to share some bands/music that we enjoy listening to while exploring Iceland and/or that bring back fond memories of time spend exploring there. I'll get the ball rolling with songs from some of my favorite bands, most of whom are metal or metal-adjacent (the list is by no means exhaustive):
Skálmöld (my favorite band) - Að Vetri
Skálmöld og Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands (okay, cheating here a bit by putting my favorite band twice, but this is with the symphony and was my introduction to the band) - Kvaðning
Sólstafir (second favorite band) - Fjara
Múr - Heimsslit
Power Paladin - The Arcane Tower
Nyrst - Orsök
Miskunn - Faster Burns The Fuse
Auðn - Vökudraumsins fangi
Hildur Guðnadóttir (composer who won the Oscar, BAFTA, and a Grammy for The Joker score) - Fólk fær andlit
My newest Icelandic scent obsession
Normally I'm a Fischersund gal, but I've been wanting to try Fjara's 1977 ever since it was launched in 2023. Finally got my hands on it at Sólstafir's merch table (Aðalbjörn Tryggvason of Sólstafir created it) at Sátan last month, and it's currently vying with Útilykt by Fischersund for "favorite perfume." It's a great unisex scent too, so it's not just for the ladies.
Note: I'm not affiliated with Fjara, Sólstafir, or Fischersund in any capacity. Just a Sólstafir fan who also likes smelling nice.
