Is it social anxiety if it’s only in one situation? Or am I just shy??

Title. I’m in high school for context.

Normally I don’t feel too scared when talking to people, but during extracurricular activities (especially where there’s a gap in skill) I become absolutely TERRIFIED when talking to people, or doing things, or asking for help or starting conversations. Like heart racing, flushing, choking on your words, would rather pull your own hair out kind of scared. Like trying to convince yourself to press your hand on a hot stove. But this doesn’t happen anywhere else?? Idk it’s like the thousands of factors that make me uncomfortable normally get ramped up to 100%.

Granted, it did feel like this regularly when I was in middle school but Ive gotten better. Since this happens much less in other situations, I’m not sure if i’m just being weak or if I should actually get help lol. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post!

Can only concentrate at night??

I'm pretty sure this is an ADHD thing. You guys ever try to do a task that requires thinking and focus and get started early in the day (ie. try to) and just keep getting distracted by literally everything? Or not even distracted, just desperately avoiding that task at all costs because it's just so mentally taxing, but once it hits 11/12 and you've wasted the whole day doing NOTHING your brain kicks into gear and you can actually focus, and you do the whole thing not even in hyperfocus just regular, no-mental-block doing it and it's more productive than your entire day??

I'm so pissed this is why my sleep schedule is wrecked. That and revenge bedtime procrastination.

This is without meds btw. This relatable or is it just me

ELI5: How does H3O exist if H2O is already in a stable form? plus more questions about pH if you feel like answering them

This is probably a really basic question (pun unintended) but I don't understand the whole acid/base/pH situation. Acid is defined by its ability to donate a proton (the H+) , and after some Googling I found out that pH is measured by the ratio of H3O... or something like that.

So my questions are:

why are H3O and H+ interchangeable?

how can H3O exist if H2O is already in a stable form? and why does water self-ionize so easily?

why do acids produce H+ atoms when dissolved in water? what about the water makes it produce the atoms when there's no extra energy?

what does "donating a proton" actually mean? similarly, what does "accepting a proton" mean?

why is the amount of H+ within a solution so significant?

Answering any of the questions would be a massive help. Thanks guys.

i really want to pursue physics, preferably at a T20 or T50 but i don't know if it's actually possible because i have 0 research 0 awards 0 SAT score so yeah, fried. not even sure if i should aim for US colleges because it's going to be much more competitive.

demographics: female, chinese immigrant to australia, mid income (not much financial aid necessary but would be nice ofc).

intended major: physics

ACT/SAT/SAT II: none taken yet :(

grades: APs aren't offered but i am taking the most rigorous courses possible. no ranks available but if i had to guess probably in top 20% of cohort? my average score is 94% which would be nearly 4.0 GPA (UW)

awards: (FRIED for this part, i've got nothing)

- probably will get an in-school academic award

- national level award for FTC that will get me doxxed if i say what it is

- national level awards for FRC, plus world qualification

extracurriculars:

- deputy captain of FTC team. will likely get captain this year

- design team in FRC, lead the development of my subsystem

- self-taught web development, currently building an app and hoping to finish in a few months

- writer with over 3.5k readers reached and over 400 interactions (actually scraping at the bottom of the barrel here. iykyk but hoping that the AOs don't)

- digital illustration, animation, gauche painting (i have no qualifications or art account, but i spend hours drawing per week and that's really the gist of it)

obvious getting into T20s is unrealistic but what range do you think i could aim for? esp as an international, it's more difficult i think. i also applied to some summer programs but i haven't heard back from them yet :/ all the time i spend lurking chanceme just to wake up from my delusions and realize i'm the cooked one 😭😭😭

any advice appreciated!
