Result 2026

Basically, I initially failed Maths and Urdu in 9th grade, so I decided to switch to O-Levels. At that point, I only had about a month to prepare, so I took the Urdu exam and received a D.
After that, I decided to take Biology, Physics, and English. Unfortunately, I failed these subjects, so I decided to retake them. I then took Chemistry and Biology and passed Biology with an E.
Afterwards, I decided to retake Physics and English in October. However, I only had about a month to prepare for those exams as well. When I received my results, I got a D in Physics.
I have now taken Biology, Chemistry, and Maths again. I received a D in Biology, an E in Chemistry, and a U in Maths.
At this point, my parents are considering having me retake Maths and English and then start first-year Intermediate (1st-year Inter). However, my ultimate goal is to become a doctor, so I am unsure whether this is the best path for me.
I want to choose the option that gives me the strongest chance of getting into medical school. I am particularly concerned about whether I should continue retaking O-Level subjects, which subjects I should prioritize, and whether I should move on to Intermediate now. Please help me

“Year 12, less than 3 months left, and I genuinely have no idea what I want to do”

Evening lads,

How's everyone's day going? Good? Bad?

I've seen other reddit post in this type of category, so I'd figured I'd finally create one myself today.

Got less than 3 months left untill I finish my year, then it's exam time.

And honestly, this year has been absolute shit.

I'm not really worried about exams or tests, I'm worried about my future.

This is something I have been thinking since last year. Failing semester by semester, every test, every exam then think to myself; "Will I ever succeed?"

"What will I do in the future?"

I haven't really taken these thoughts seriously until this month.

I don't have plan A or B yet.

I've always said to my peers that I am looking at going into the engineering field next year, but I'm starting to think engineering was just my default answer whenever people asked what I wanted to do. I don't know if this something I actually want to do, even with the current subjects I have with me; Maths Methods, Physics. (I dropped out chemistry lasy year) They're both something I find interesting, especially Physics.

One piece of advice that I am given everytime; PRACTICE

But I never really focused, I never found the determination to practice or study everyday. I don't even study on subject I selected that I need for that course. What's the point of doing that subject when I don't learn anything?

It was all leaving things to the last minute.

Procrastination

I never really ask questions.

All of this, gave me the fear of failure.

Fear of failing.

And then I think to myself now; "I should've done this earlier" "I've should've changed before year 12" "I've should've taken Year 12 seriously"

One of the things that has taken my spirit, is Mental Health.

My Mental Health has been affecting me alot this year, especially after from failing a test and recieving the results or performance. I am aware of this, but I never picked myself up.

What I'm struggling with is actually choosing what comes after Year 12. Struggling to study/practice and prepare more before an exam or test, managing my time. I've told people for a while that I'd probably go into engineering, but recently I've realised I don't know if I actually want that, or if it was just an easy answer whenever someone asked me what I wanted to do.

So I'll tell a little bit of myself.

I'm interested in computers and technology, hardware, laptops, PC parts and that sort of thing.

But I'm also a fairly creative person. I've always enjoyed drawing, digital art and games. So now I'm looking at everything from engineering and IT to cybersecurity, design or something involving games/digital media, and I genuinely don't know where I belong.

AI is another thing that's messing with my decision. I know you shouldn't choose a career purely because it's "AI-proof", but I'm also nervous about spending years studying for something that could look completely different by the time I graduate.

But again, I'm worried that I wont succeed.

I guess what I'm asking is:

For anyone who felt completely lost at the end of Year 12, how did you eventually decide what to study?

Should I still consider engineering if I'm currently struggling with Methods and Physics, or is that a sign I should look elsewhere?

What other careers/degrees would you recommend for someone interested in computers/technology but also creative work?

And for anyone who was a terrible procrastinator in Year 12,

did you manage to turn that around at university or afterwards?

Any advice or experiences would be genuinely appreciated. I'm just trying to figure out where I go from here and what to do after this post.

I'll try to do my best to respond.

Thanks.

How to study and get good marks in subjects I don't like and don't understand.

Recently I got my test results, they weren't very good, pretty average. While I can work on them, there's computer where I got 44/80 and I don't like it/understand it at all. I literally memorized the programs because I don't get them. Any tips so as to how to increase my marks and get at the top of the class? Same goes for easy subjects like English literature where I got 66/80.

Should I ask for a remark?

Hi guys I recently achieved 19/20 on my Bio IA3 and 20/20 for physics. I got chemistry back today, the last day our teachers can submit to the QCAA and achieved a disappointing result of 11/20. I was wondering if I should bother as my internal marks have been 10/10 and 19/20 for my chem IA2 and IA3. Would anyone like to look over mine and let me know if it’s worth raising a question?

Investigating science or science extension? Advice pls

I'm planning on dropping subjects after prelims and idk if I should drop investigating science for science extension. Right now my subjects are:

Chemistry

Physics

Adv english

Adv/ext1 math

Legal

Investigating science

I'm 100% dropping legal so that'd put me at 11 units, but I'm also thinking about dropping investigating and picking up science ext which would put me at 10 units. The thing is I don't know if it'll be worth it since the research report takes a lot of time and I'm already falling a bit behind in chemistry

Should I just stick with investigating? I'm neutral about the subject, it's not like I like or dislike it but the scaling is just piss compared to science extension (89 -> 71 vs 88 -> 82) and the course I want to do at unsw has 94 as its lowest selection rank.

I'm also kind of worried that science ext might take up too much of my time in y12 since it's an independent research report (and I have 0 time management skills). Can anyone that chose science extension tell me how the stress/difficulty/etc is compared to chem/phys/any other subject? Any advice or input regarding this post is greatly appreciated 🙏

Perms and combs is killing me

Extension 1 student here. I'm only in year 11 I never received any tutoring and my teacher kinda sucks. AI can only get me so far, is it worth keeping? Does it get better from here? I mean I sorta know perms and combs is like the tip of the gay iceberg but like I dunno, even like 'further graphs' etc was already giving me aids. Does year 12 get better :(

Topics like further trig, polynomials and vectors (we did the year 12 chapter early for some reason) I really enjoyed though. I also haven't started binomial theorm.

This is honestly already burning me out. And im not even half-way through the chapter.

what are the minimum grades i need for my subjects to secure a 95 atar?

I’m asking this as a year 10 student in WA. My chosen ATAR subjects for next year are:

English
human biology
Chemistry
Math applications
Psychology

I didn’t choose anything like spec, methods or physics simply because i’m not great at those and i think i would go crazy if i had to study for those. i do think i will enjoy and willingly study for the subjects above though.

Chances for QTAC Medicine/Dentistry as a WA interstate applicant? UCAT 2180

Hey, I’m a Year 12 student from WA applying through QTAC for 2027 Medicine/Dentistry and wanted some realistic advice about my chances and preference list.

I’m currently aiming for around a 94–95+ ATAR and scored 2180 UCAT ANZ. I’m a metro WA/interstate applicant and don’t qualify for rural entry schemes.

My current QTAC preferences are:

  1. JCU Medicine – Townsville
  2. JCU Medicine – Cairns
  3. UQ Medicine – Provisional Entry for School Leavers
  4. Griffith Bachelor of Medical Science → MD pathway
  5. JCU Dentistry
  6. Griffith Dental Health Science

I know JCU has a strong rural/regional focus and that my UCAT may make UQ difficult, so I’m trying to work out where I realistically have the best chance.

Questions:

  • With an ATAR around 94–95+ and UCAT 2180, do I have a realistic chance at any of these as a metro interstate applicant?
  • Should I add/remove any Medicine or Dentistry courses available through QTAC?
  • Would you rearrange these preferences to maximise my chances of receiving any Med/Dent offer?
  • Does preference order actually affect whether JCU/UQ/Griffith considers me, or should I simply rank them by which course I would prefer?
  • Is Townsville or Cairns JCU Medicine more favourable for interstate applicants, or are they essentially the same for admissions?
  • Would JCU Dentistry or Griffith Dentistry be more realistic for my profile?
  • Are there any other Queensland Med/Dent pathways I’m overlooking?
  • And would changing my JCU application around would give me a better chance?

I’m aware Bond Medicine opens later, so I’m also planning to consider changing my QTAC preferences when Bond applications open.

Would especially appreciate advice from recent QTAC/JCU/UQ/Griffith applicants or interstate students. Thanks!

Advance English or Standard English

Hey guys.
I’m in year 11
I am tossing on turning whether or not if I should drop to English standard.
Currently my marks are in the 40-60%. I can tell you guys I have definitely not been studying… Including all my other subjects. I love English a lot, but unfortunately this year is not my academic year. I don’t know what I should do.
I feel like advance English and standard English are the same, except Adv is more analytical is more dependent on the context of the text.
And if I try hard hopefully I can get the results I want.
I’m not a bad writer (I hope), when I was younger my skills were immaculate, but obviously time does change.
Help.

Year 10 Subject selection!! Need help 😭

Uhh so subject selection is right around the corner for me and I'm just really stuck and would appreciate any advice if anyone has any!

I'm aiming for medicine and my main dilemma is that I need to choose between modern history and bio which is really difficult as some people state that bio is required whilst some state that science subjects aren't required and so on. I do enjoy modern history in y10 currently but I've been hearing from everyone that it gets extremely difficult in senior years, which again makes me more unsure of what to pick.... Oh, and I'm planning to choose chem already if that helps in any way.

How do I get a 70% for my senior year in high school

I'm in my last year (I'm in South Africa) and for the last three years I can't get above a 60% my marks have been dropping ever since and I don't know what to do anymore. In just 3 days I'm starting with exams and I can't study properly. I've used past papers, used notes and all and information just doesn't stick in my head. It's particularly worse when it comes to subjects like Maths and Biology. I want to apply to uni overseas but with my marks there's no way I'm getting accepted. I can't afford a tutor or get concentration medication. I'm stuck and I feel completely hopeless with no idea what I'm going to do with my life. Please help

can i ask unis to reject me?

this isn't super qce related but i am currently doing ib in qld and im applying to uni through qtac but my parents want me to apply to go interstate too. the thing is that i dont want to go interstate, but they're practically forcing me to and its this whole ordeal and a huge point of contention. how feasible is it to just like ring up universities and ask them to reject me on my applications interstate? like can i do that or?
