Songs like of "Mutilated Lips" by Ween and "Dance Hall" by Modest Mouse

I don't know a lot of music terms so I'm not sure how to explain this, but kind of a sleazy vibe, with that vocal affectation. Any genre is fine. Thank you!

Where can I see wagon ruts in Southern California? Or other important sites related to the westward migration?

Hello! I'm looking for places to view wagon ruts from the westward migration of the mid-1800s in Southern California. So far I have planned to visit Box Canyon in the Anza-Borrego Desert. I'm very interested in anything to do with the westward migration so I'll take any recommendations pertaining to the westward migration.

I've already visited a lot of the sites in Southern California, such as the old emigrant trail and of course Donner Pass. I'm looking for some places closer to home now. Thank you in advance!

manual 2012 Nissan Sentra keeps showing "Check Engine Soon" with different codes

The codes that have shown, that I've fixed, so far have been: O² sensor, MAF sensor, spark plugs, and engine coils (code showed misfire, I changed engine coils and plugs). It's driving alright, but It keeps showing the Check Engine Soon light, though. I clear it, and it reappears after around 7 miles driven. It has 170k miles.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice would be helpful.

My sister just had a baby and the bingos have started up again after nearly a decade

I haven't ever wanted a child, and having been AFAB (I'm a trans man) the bingos started early. I pushed back on them early, too, and finally around age 18 my family finally got it into their heads that no, I don't want kids and I'm not going to change my mind if I meet the right person, and If an "accident happened" it would be expeditiously hoovered out. Ive always been great with kids (toddler+ when they can actually talk, babies are pretty annoying to me, sorry babies)

However, my sister just had an unexpected baby and I'm getting all the questions again, asking if I've changed my mind (as though the act of seeing a baby, which I saw a million times growing up bc I live in a big and fertile family lol) would change anything.

Not a big rant or anything, it's just frustrating that after all those years of being off the hook it's started back up again. I had a suspicion it would, but I naively thought that they would be satisfied with one baby.

Non fiction books that might help my history/nonfiction brain understand math better?

I love dense and factual non fiction about historical subjects, but I've always been terrible at math. I love non fiction science books too, such as the ones written by Carl Sagan, Steve Brusatte. So I had the idea that perhaps reading sub non fiction about math might help further my understanding of it.

So give me some recs!

How many holds do you have on library books?

I was looking through my library holds and realize I might have too many lol. I have 30, wait listed between 1-62 weeks. When I'm bored I go through the lists my library makes and place a hold on anything that sounds interesting. I have been able to keep up with my holds so far so I'm not too worried on that front.

How many do you have? I'm curious to see what everyone else's list looks like

Does anyone lightweight backpack or motocamp with their Kobo? How do you extra protect it from damage without adding a lot of space or weight to the device?

Hello! My partner and I like to backpack and motocamp. I'm wondering if anyone else brings who does these hobbies brings their their Kobo along, and if so how do you keep the screen safe? It'll be in a backpack obviously, and I have a hard case on it already Im brainstorming ways to protect it from screen damage it without adding a lot of space or weight to it. We try to pack as efficiently as possible, so every centimeter of space saved helps!

My current idea is wrapping it in bubble wrap or foam and putting the whole thing in a pillowcase haha. I'm not opposed to modifying the case, but I just really don't want to mess up my screen! Let me know your ideas and what works for you!

What is the best way to invest $100 for a newborn baby to be used for a future education?

A close family member is having a baby, the first baby in my generation of family. I would like to open an index fund or high yield account or 529 for my future nephew for a college education or trade school.

I'm not very knowledgeable about the different savings and investment accounts, but I would like some advice on what the best account I could open for a newborn baby.

Some details and requirements: I am in California. I have $100 I want to invest now. I would like to be the sole executor of the money, with the parents not able to access the funds. I want it to be able to be used on trade schools, community colleges, or universities. I don't want it to be age dependent; if they want to go to college at 25 I want them to still be able to use the fund. If they choose not to go to school I want to either get the money back or have it donated to a charity, or something, but I want it to strictly only be able to be used for schooling. (I plan to have another small savings account to gift them on their 18th birthday, but I want something that can only be used for further education, to hopefully encourage them to pursue that. I'm the only one in my family to go to college so far and I'm trying to help change that)

Any advice or discussion would be very helpful. Thank you!

The search function is not very good on my Kobo Libra Color

Howdy! I've had my Kobo Libra Color for a month or so now and my only complaint is that the search function when looking for a specific book is not very good.

This is the second book in which I am looking for a specific book on my KLC (Lonesome Dove) but I can't find it on my KLC but the android Kobo app shows it available. I also always get x rated books recommended when searching for non erotic novels.

Does anyone else have this issue? Its not the biggest inconvenience in the world I know but it would be nice to be able purchase books right off my device.

Walkyrie vs Valkyrie

Hello! I'm currently reading 'We' by Yevgeny Zamyatin and he uses the spelling "Walkyrie", which I have never come across before.

I'm just curious about the different spellings, if Walkyrie is an archaic spelling, or if it is due to the book being translated, regional, etc.? I couldn't find much online, so I thought I would ask here.

Thank you!

What are some lesser recommended public domain books?

Howdy! I just got an e-reader and I'm downloading some classics I have yet to read onto it. I have read most of the classics, such as Austen, Bronte, Dostoevsky, Shelly, etc, etc. What are some lesser known ones I may have missed, or not heard about?

Non American/European classics would be great!

Danger Days stannies, putting on your "wishful thinking" hat, what do you hope the announcement will be?

Lets be delusional together 😔

I really really really really really want another Killjoy comic series OR a rerelease of the laser guns and masks OR all of these things and a tour.

TIL where the title for "Black Dragon Fighting Society" came from

I discovered this from the Last Podcast on the Left series they're doing about Count Dante.

In short, he was this guy who ran a dojo and started a "dojo war" in which one person was killed. He would run his advertisements for his classes, the "Black Dragon Fighting Society" in Marvel and DC magazines, which is likely where the band discovered him

I currently work in traditional ag (cruciferous greens) but its just temp. There are some specific websites that most ag jobs get posted to in my area, and I am wondering if the cannabis industry has the same?
