Midlife "crisis"

Is it possible that others claim are people going through a "midlife crisis" is actually breaking free of constraints society or ourselves may have put onto us?

I'm thinking of how sometimes clothing etc is looked at as either "age appropriate" or not. I've personally never feel into that & wore what I wanted. Like if we don't continue to conform or do as people want, the assumption is that we're going through a "midlife crisis".

It's one thing if people are in middle age & legit going through a crisis about it. I can totally understand that & hope people are empathetic to those going through that.

I'm speaking more on others judging what's appropriate for which ever age group. It's not even necessarily younger folks looking at older folks as not being "age appropriate" it could even be older folks doing that too.

Don't complain about growing old.

A few friends have passed away in the past few years at a fairly young age. It has made me look at getting older as a blessing.

Canada: Just bought a Venue!

I pick it up this weekend.

I got a 2025 Venue Essential as it is enough for my needs. While the next levels are nice they were more car than I currently need. It was a demo and has very little kms on it.

As some others mentioned in Canada we don't have the centre console arm rest.

Does anyone have a solution to that yet? I may just try go find a cover for it. I sometimes use the arm rest to adjust my seating position.

I may just try to find a cover for it in the mean time.

Getting old, don't want to give up my Civic.

Edit: Thank you to everyone who replied & provided excellent advice. I am in a bit of denial that I will have to give up my loyal Civic. Hopefully the next person who gets this car treats it well.

I have a 2015 Honda Civic EX that still runs like a charm. Has very low mileage.

My biggest issue is the car kills my back. Even if this car was another 3 inches taller it would make a world of a difference for me.

My question is. Is there any way to raise this car up without interfering with the speedometer, or getting larger tires? The current tires on my vehicle are 205/55R16.

I was thinking to trade it but this car is so reliable that it really worries me to trade it for a lemon. It's actually the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.

Any info would be appreciated.

Clothing

I've had my 2nd bout of post menopausal bleeding in the past three years. The doc said if there were any more occurrences, due to the family history of cancer, she'd do a hysterectomy instead of me having to go through a D & C as well as a hysteroscopy again (was under full anaesthesia for those procedures)

I wondered what clothing you'd suggest for when leaving the hospital. Is it better to have a dress that goes over head? Or would a shirt dress that buttons up be better? I thought a button up may be better as I can imagine moving my arms up may be a bit tricky with gas pains & incisions. I will have people at home to care for me but want to prepare as best I can ahead of time.

I would be evicting my uterus as well as tubes, ovaries and cervix. She specializes in minimally invasive hysterectomy. Not sure how my incisions I would have.

This forum has been a wonderful source of info.

privacy glass vs tint

Photo attached.
I'm looking into test driving this Onyx (Canadian) & perhaps buying it.

The tint looks quite dark & I am wondering if it is after market. I test drove a Subaru Touring & the privacy glass was dark but I don't think it was this dark. The Touring was a black vehicle so perhaps the tint didn't seem as pronounced without a contrasting colour.

What do you all think?

Post menopausal

In March 2025 had post menopausal bleeding about two years after my last period. There is a family history of uterine cancer so my family doctor got onto it very quickly. I got an ultrasound that showed something abnormal. I was then referred to a gynecologist I had seen before for cervical issues. She's fantastic. At the hospital I had a d & c as well as a hyseroscopy. (under full anaesthesia) All the margins were totally clear & showed nothing of concern.

The gynecologist is fantastic & continued to see me afterwards. We discussed a hysterectomy based on family history but decided to wait since everything was clear. She told me that she would still over see my care (thankfully) & to call her if any thing came up.

This week, I spotted again. So I made an appointment to see her.

I'm so nervous as I've never had major surgery before.

Has anyone here dealt with anything similar that you would be willing to share?

I appreciate any comments or insights.

Post menopausal bleeding

Has anyone dealt with post menopausal bleeding & eventual hysterectomy?

I have a family history of uterine cancer. I had post menopausal bleeding in January of 2025. I got an ultrasound that showed something of concern. The next step was a hysteroscopy as well as a d&c. Both came back negative including clean margins. The gynecologist I have is fantastic. She told me that if I experience any more issues that we'll work on getting me a hysterectomy.

I had post menopausal bleeding again. I booked an appointment to see her.

I've never had a major surgery before. As much as I want my uterus gone but I'm very nervous about the procedure.

Any insights are appreciated

Gas mileage difference between the 2.0L & 2.5L

I am looking to purchase a Crosstrek very soon. I test drove the 2.0L & seemed to be peppy. I drove it a fair bit around the city. Some of it in very busy areas, other areas was able to open it up a bit.

I have heard that the 2.5L is the way to go but for my needs the 2.0L seems totally fine.

All that said, there are more Onyx 2.5L (Sport in the USA) levels available used than the Touring 2.0L.

Has anyone compared the two? I read they are almost identical for gas mileage but has any of that been confirmed in real life situations?

Thanks for any info.

Also, thanks to everyone in this forum who have helped in the past few months, even unknowingly. Reading your posts has been extremely helpful in making this decision.

I'm looking forward to passing along my Honda Civic soon for a Subaru Crosstrek.

Getting teeth pulled, dentures.

I have been lucky, I've only had one tooth pulled. This was about 4 months ago. Now it seems I may need another one pulled which is the one right behind this one. Now I would be losing the two top far back teeth on one side.

How have people managed getting dentures? I wasn't going to worry too much about this one tooth missing but I do notice a difference when I talk. I can't imagine how it will be with two missing there.

I really don't want to get implants as they cost a small fortune, I think... What have others done regarding tooth loss? How have you adjusted?

If anyone likes to sing, how has the tooth loss effected your singing?

Thanks for any info.

I'm considering a Crosstrek. I am wondering how comfortable the seating is, particularly the drivers seat. I'm going to go test drive it but wondering if anyone has any concerns on longer distance drives.

Edit: I would be looking for a 2020 or older.

I live in Canada. Our Crosstrek's come from Japan but not sure if that makes a difference in the seating.

My back as I am getting older is getting creaky. So looking for a higher up vehicle that is comfortable to drive. The Crosstrek is one of three I'm considering.

Thanks for any info people can provide.
