Lets go Arkansas

I’m a seventh generation Arkansan. They will bury me in the hilllside red dirt. The creeks and the hollers will hold my soul when I go on to the next life. We have a long history of creating our own path. Arkansas hasn’t always been the way it is now. (A favorite read of mine”Hipbillies” gives an excellent look at how we got here.) It’s time we take back our home from people who have used it to create wealth for themselves and those in power who don’t care at all about us.

In Arkansas we deserve someone who will put us first. We deserve to live our lives with dignity and take care of our neighbors. We deserve to rise above GOP candidates that have used culture war bullshit to rob us blind and keep us angry and rabid and hating each other. What would your Mamaw say if she saw us now ? So busy hating the poor, the sick, the hungry, the immigrant that we stop taking care of each other, of this land that holds us ? Really ask yourselves who wins ? Please get out and vote ! Put wider national politics aside. What’s best for Arkansas ? What’s best for your fellow Arkansans ?

Help ! Can I save this paw paw.

This paw paw tree isn’t in great shape. It’s about 3 ft from a house that needs to come down. Can I save it ? I know it needs a friend but first I have to figure out if it can be moved or if I can graft it some how. I’m a complete novice but I find so few paw paw trees these days it pains me to see it come down with the house.

Thinking about what caused the joining

When the virus or wherever is was created it got released into humanity by accident. I wonder if it was never meant to infect humans. Just because the signal is sent out doesn’t mean that societies that are able to create it would just allow it to spread.

So would that mean whatever sent out the signal is hoping there are just some accidents ? That an advanced civilization would willingly infect people. I’m not 100 percent sure where I’m going with this but it seems like a big gamble to think the hive mind virus would actually infect a compatible host. If there hadn’t been a lab accident and humans had learned more about the virus maybe it’s actually meant to be used in a different way ?

My first frog sighting after two plus years of creating habitat !!!

They live in my garden and are the first frog live seen. I love them. I’ve spent two plus years trying to make my suburban yard a place frogs can call home. I’m so glad they came to live with me. I’m in the Ozarks and I believe this is a southern leopard frog.

Farm Headstone in Rural resting place.

They put a map of the whole farm on the back of the headstone. I thought it was peaceful.

Outjerked by the permaculture sub

https://www.reddit.com/r/Permaculture/s/HaFPPwOVix

“For me, permaculture is really about permanence, where we create sustainable human settlements.

We learn about different agricultural methods in order to create these settlements. With that in mind, our systems should probably be safe no? ! don't just want productive systems. I want places where people can exist carelessly without fear. I want children to wander freely, I want guests who know nothing about plants to be safe, I want a place that doesn't depend on everyone remembering a list of dangerous species, and | don't want the stress of wondering whether some black locust got into my animal feed and whether they're going to die or not. More importantly, I want to be able to raise a family without worry.

To me, a truly mature permaculture system should feel almost impossible to misuse, and for the kind of "bulletproof" human habitats I want to design, where people live in permanence and move through the landscape freely and unconsciously, I no longer think black locust really has a place in my systems, except for extrem v cases of land regeneration/restoration.”

Sweating Sickness

It’s though that the most likely culprit for the seasonal epidemic disease called “the sweat”, common in England and some places in Europe in the 16th century, was a type of human to human mutated hanta virus. It was virulent and could kill within 24 hours.

However it never rose to the level of the black plague due to the difficulty of even a mutated hanta virus to spread and kill widely. The out breaks we knew about where seasonal and came in fast bursts that quickly burnt out. But it had a very high death rate.

I wonder if the sweat was a similar mutation of the Andean strain ? No way to know for sure but there is evidence of possible mutated hanta virus causing widespread disease in the past.
