Power surges/outages with PEC

Hey all,

New Georgetown resident, moved from Round Rock. I moved to a very new neighborhood west of 35, and my electricity provider is PEC. I’ve noticed, since I bought my house over a month ago, I’ve had maybe 1 brief power outage, one longer outage, and a brief surge earlier this week. Is this a common thing with PEC, or just a new neighborhood thing? I came from Oncor (great reliability but very expensive)

Thanks!

Texas buyers…discounts?

Hey all,

I live in Texas (Austin) and our dealers around here really aren’t discounting Trailseeker as much as I’ve been seeing here. We get the 0% for 75 though. Anyone in Texas get any good deals lately?

Thanks.

Garage stairs modification and storage ideas

Just purchased this home, built in 2024. The garage is a 18x20, and it’s a tight fit for two cars. I’m gonna park a Lexus GX460 (192 inches long) and a Toyota RAV4 (180 inches) the two cars fit, but barely, and these stairs are a big space eater. Any ideas on how to modify them to gain some semblance of space? Storage ideas?

Thanks.

Eero PoE gateway media cabinet mounting ideas

Hey everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I’ve been using my Eero 6E’s for two years now and they have been super reliable. I just bought a new house and it came with one of these media cabinets. I’m gonna be getting AT&T fiber and I picked up an Eero PoE gateway. Anyone have any good mounting ideas or any mounting brackets that work with these sorts of cabinets? Thanks all.

EDIT: after some debating, I’m gonna return the gateway and I ordered a Unifi Cloud Gateway Max. I’ll use my 6’s for WiFi access points. That way I can easily mount the gateway in the cabinet without worrying about weight or size. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Household goods donation

Hey everyone,

I’m gonna be moving out of my house soon, and after sorting through a lot of stuff in what I wanna bring to the new house and leave behind, I wanna donate most of what I leave behind. Besides Goodwill and The Salvation Army, where are some good places to donate? I’ve got some small appliances, a chair and footrest set, and some other small stuff

Thanks.

▲ 923 r/COROLLA

This past Friday, I bought my dad a new 2026 Corolla. This is first brand new car he’s ever owned. The four new cars my parents ever bought was all for my mom, my dad would get the older car when she was done with it and he would commute to work with that every day. Fast forward to now.

My dad has had a rough few years since my mom passed. Me and my sister live in the mainland, and he lives in Hawaii. It’s hard taking care of an elderly parent living an ocean away, but we make do. He’s been driving my mom’s old 2008 Nissan Rogue with 300k miles, and it’s starting to give him issues. Rather than wait for it to break down, I made the decision to buy him a new Corolla. Reliable, great fuel economy, and it has a warranty. I’m very privileged to be in a position to be able to do this for him.

He’s over the moon and super happy. He loves it!
