Most reliable taxi to airport

What’s a good taxi company for trips to the airport these days? I used to use Lynx, but had a bad experience with them recently where a driver hadn’t actually been allocated to the job and they didn’t tell us.

It‘a an early start, so need a guaranteed booklong.

TIA!

Martial arts classes for 11yr old girl

My daughter has expressed an interest in doing some kind of martial arts, primarily for self defense. Does anybody have any recommendations of a) which martial art and b) somewhere that does kids classes?

I heard about Krav Maga which sounds pretty kick ass, but struggling to find classes for kids.

Piercing in Manchester/Stockport

I believe Holier than Thou is normally the go to place for piercings (I’ve also been there before and had a good experience), but has anybody been to White Dragon in Stockport and could compare the two?

Or any issues with White Dragon to be aware of?

It’s for ear and naval piercing, for an 11 and 15yr old respectively. TIA!

1,500 playlists to suit your mood

I made a website with around 1,500 playlists (up to 15 tracks on each). You can select your mood, you activity and era and it will give you a link to a pre-created playlist.

https://fringefm.net/

The idea behind this is to find something new. I was getting tired of the algorithm playing me the same old stuff all the time, so I needed to break the cycle! Spotify has +100 million songs, so I wanted to explore the fringes ☺️

The music is still incredible though, but you may not have heard it before. The whole process of creating the playlists was fine-tuned to exclude anything obvious (e.g. Norah Jones categorically excluded from chilled playlists).

This originally started as a bot running on my home network which would create playlists using AI based on whatever I was in the mood for. This lead me to create the playlists in bulk for as many different combinations of mood and activity I could think of.

This has worked a little bit like medicine for my sick Spotify algorithm. After listening to these playlists for a weeks, when I do land back in the Spotify Algorithm the music I’m given is much more varied.

It’s all free! There’s no money in it for me. It’s just a fun project that I wanted to share! If you have any suggestions for improvement I’d love to hear it. I’m able to create around 150 playlists a day using the Spotify API, so it took quite a few weeks to get these ones live. Tidal took about 10 minutes 😅

AI curated playlists and voice control via Siri

I built a self-hosted bot so that I can control music playing on my Sonos system from my Apple Watch.

And to avoid this being deleted....I'm not selling anything. It's just code that runs on existing software on your Mac/PC. I'm a simple hobbyist and find this tool so enjoyable I wanted to share it! (links below to files and instructions)

https://xoot.uk/sonos-controller

It's not just regular voice control....I can literally say anything I want, and the request is translated by Claude into a playlist. Here's exactly what it does.

What it does

  • "Hey Siri, Sonos…" then say literally anything — "chilled Sunday morning, modern classical, 25 tracks""taco tuesday, mariachi and latin funk, kitchen, loud""only live tracks from Pearl Jam""best cover versions of popular rock songs". Works from iPhone, Apple Watch, or the Action Button.
  • Claude curates the playlist — no more "top 10 hits by X" on loop. You get genuinely fresh selections every time, built around the vibe you described.
  • Saved to Spotify with a silly name — real ones it's produced: Flannel Nap TribunalHangover DiplomacyTuesday Existential Crisis. Your library becomes a museum of moods.
  • Plays on Sonos in ~5 seconds — straight from your wrist while cooking, no phone, no app fumbling.
  • Commands that don't require AI take 1-2 seconds (e.g. "Stop the music", "Set volume to 20%"
  • Works on the move too — dictate a vibe from a train or the school run, the bot (still running at home) builds the playlist and DMs you a tap-to-play Spotify link in Telegram. Use it as a pure playlist generator anywhere.

Why it's better than native Sonos voice

Native is keyword-driven ("play X by Y"). This understands vibes — and curates, not just searches.

The setup

Self-hosted on a Mac or Windows PC, ~30 mins. Needs a Spotify account, Anthropic API key, Telegram bot, and Tailscale (free) for the on-the-go bit. No Sonos cloud account required. Full step-by-step guide + download bundle on the site. I've been using Sonnet 4.6 as the model for creating the playlists as a good balance between cost and creativity, but if you really want to give it some wild prompts you could try Opus.

And the beauty of this is that you can tailor it however you want, if you either know how to code or how to use an AI tool. I built this with the help of Claude using Opus. Took a couple of weeks to get to this point, so I've done most of the hard work.

Let me know what you think! And enjoy the playlist titles....they make me laugh at least 50% of the time!
