IVF: How many retrievals?

If you’re doing/have done IVF, how many egg retrievals did you do? Which # retrieval was most successful for you?

“When will you have another?”

How do you respond to family/friends who ask when you’re going to have another? I recently had a miscarriage and was then told by a fertility clinic pretty much my only chance is IVF. Today I went to my nephews birthday party and was asked by multiple people about when will we have another? I felt like crying and or screaming each time, but maybe I should say we aren’t going to have another so I don’t have to deal with people asking.

Low AMH and male factor

Looking to connect with other women who have low AMH as well as male factor. Where did you start? Did you go right to IVF with ICSI? Did you try to find the root cause with male factor? My husband has a varicocele but doctor says don’t bother with surgery.

Experience with genetic screening with quest and/or genetic counseling with Gene Screen

I got genetic screenings results today completed with my fertility clinic/through Quest labs. I didn’t even know this was something I signed up for, but 3 weeks after my bloodwork I got a message from Quest that I am a carrier for 4 diseases/disorders. About an hour later I received a text message from Gene Screen for genetic counseling. My husband has not had his genetic screening done, but has an appt for tomorrow morning. Should I wait for his results before meeting with Gene Screen? Does anyone have any experience with this company? I wish my fertility clinic reached out with the results from communication has been extremely poor so far.

Sono HSG cycle timing

Has anyone had a sono HSG after ovulation? My fertility clinic said they gave me the soonest available appointment, but it lands on day 21 of my cycle (about 5-7 days after I typically ovulate). For some reason I thought it needed to be done prior to ovulation for the best view. It also would mean I wouldn’t be able to try this month.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve done to try to get pregnant?

I’ll go first 🤪 I went to witchy shop in Salem, MA where they told me to buy a candle and dried parsley. Each night during my fertile window she said to lightly dress the candle in oil and roll it into the dried parsley, then light the candle.

I haven’t actually tried this yet because with my luck it will burn down this house…

HSG versus HSG sono

I am starting with a new fertility clinic who would like me to have a HSG sono. The doctor explained this is “less torturous” (his words!!) than an HSG. I previously had an HSG done and found it incredibly painful. If you’ve had both done did one hurt more than the other?

AMH & interventions

My AMH is .52 at age 35 and my REI said he wouldn’t recommend any interventions except IVF (this was an initial consult so this statement was based solely on my age and AMH). I just don’t feel ready for that, but don’t want to regret not starting sooner. So for anyone with low AMH did you try monitored cycles? IUI? Do you regret anything? If you are doing IVF how many egg retrievals have you done?

Other additional info- at 33 my AMH was .69 and I conceived my son after 2 cycles of letrozole (4 cycles TTC). This March I got pregnant the first month TTC but it ended in miscarriage. We’ve tried 2 months since but I reached out to a fertility clinic to see what they would recommend.

Fertility Clinic

I have an initial appointment next week with a fertility clinic. What are some good questions to ask? Is there anything you wish you knew before going into the process?

I don’t think I’m a candidate for IVF due to low AMH but am interested in seeing what next steps they recommend.

Night time LH surge

My LH always rises SUPER fast and drops off quickly, which makes catching my peak really tricky. Through tracking using cheapie OPKs for the last year I’ve found I usually get a positive LH during night time testing. This makes testing with Inito annoying because it requires a morning test and is too expensive to test multiple times per day. My LH on Inito today went from 1.3 to 16 today 🤷🏻‍♀️ glad I had the hunch to test tonight.

Fertility clinic

If you moved on to a fertility clinic what made you decide to go and after how long of TTC? I am 35 and have low AMH. I had a miscarriage in April when I got pregnant my first month of trying. My doctor would like me to try 3 cycles of letrozole (without being monitored) before moving on to a fertility clinic but I am wondering if it makes more sense to skip the unmonitored cycles and go right to a clinic.

9 DPO woes

I am 9 DPO and anxiety is creeping in. I had a miscarriage in April and this is our first month TTC again. I have low AMH and high FSH so I felt some pressure to start trying again quickly given my age.

I am definitely symptom spotting- light cramping, sore breasts, smell sensitivity, and elevated BBT. I stopped using my Inito because it was causing me too much anxiety. I haven’t taken a pregnancy test yet- mostly because I know it will trigger wanting to obsessively test for line progression.

Any others struggle with this during your TWW?
