Minty with box and papers - from the same collection I recently purchased a 1903 and a Lightweight Commander.
This copy is a 5 1/2in in 45 Colt. 1977 production. There is a cylinder drag ring (cert so barely slight) but the value hit has been taken (also saved me a bit on the price)…so perhaps I’ll shoot this one!
This one arrived today. I’ll freely admit this was a bit of a splurge. It’s incredibly well made and smooth. The anodizing comes off as distressed bronze with flake - it’s actually quite stunning up close. I get this is not what one would call competitively priced…especially for its size - but she’s a looker for sure! It looks like there is a semi-healthy aftermarket for these (at reduced price of course) but who of the original buyers a year ago still has/carries their copy? How have they held up?
I have to admit this was a bit of an impulse/splurge…but I’ve wanted a Grimsmo Knife to go along with the couple of Saga pens I have. I was drawn to this Fjell in what comes off as a distressed bronze (green/teal) with bronze flake anodizing. It’s actually quite striking in person. Overall I am very pleased with the smoothness and lockup - deployment is nearly effortless and the blade just glides on the bearings. As others have mentioned - it’s just a wee bit small- but for the purposes of a “5th pocket” or light EDC tool knife that can go anywhere and accomplish most daily tasks it will fit the bill…..albeit a rather decadent/expensive bill.
I may need to submit a PSQ for work in the coming weeks. I thought this was a pretty straight forward process for the most part (as much as one can be anyways). However - I have seen 2 versions of the form recently. One was all questions resolving to the last completed investigation or CV date, and the other on Q4 (personal conduct) has an "ever" question similar to the SF86. Which one I fill out doesn't make a big difference - nothing I would be presenting hasn't been previously disclosed or adjudicated - it just seems interesting to me. Does this mean different programs potentially use one or the other depending on their requirements and guidelines? Just curious as to the discrepancy. Many thanks in advance.

Ok Ok - first time posting on this sub - but this thing is a fun one to introduce myself here with. The scales are solid shipwrecked/distressed Brass - its CHUNKY because of this. I have many other Dauntless knives (at one point I had over 40, I have slimmed down the collection slightly) and I EDC them often. As heavy as this one is, I am not so sure it is good for EDC - perhaps occasionaly carry though. What it is - fun, different, and the forced patina is a great touch. I have plenty of knives with authentic patina - but also some EDC/Machined pens in Copper/Bronze that have had similar treatments, and with time the forced and natural patinas come together pretty gloriously. Anyways - not for everyone but a looker for sure!
I’ll keep it short - it’s precisely what you are imagining it is. It has lots of subtle detail in the machining. It’s precise, it’s Energel…lol. Also - my copy is now a blue needle tip and there is literally 0 play. Perfectly executed Rich! Lastly - if you like fidgety clicky goodness - this one is definitely for you!
I’m pretty happy with how the collection is coming along - I have one Q3D in pre-production - and we will take a stab at the Fusion tomorrow…

Love the new Aether milling pattern and coloration on this one - a winner for sure. It’s a nice contrast next to my first “serious” machined pen - my Zirc Oil Slicked Soul Pen. I love them both!
Beautiful and as expected. The fitment to the Energel tip is delightfully wiggle free. I haven’t trimmed down a fine point Energel yet but I suspect that will also work nicely with this cap design. Happy to have this one in the collection!
I ordered this just over 5 weeks ago and it arrived today. I typically wear a western style felt hat, but it’s more nuanced than a typical cattleman - it’s a shorter crowned pointed telescope - it’s a little outdoors, a little western, a little outback…so now that it’s warming up I wanted something light but that would keep my head well shaded and cool to a degree.
I looked at many many cowboy straw options but just wasn’t finding what I wanted. Where I live in the Midwest there isn’t a ton of stores or selection - but in my never ending search I stumbled upon the Panama Hat. Of course it’s not western and wide-brimmed - but there are several crown shapes and brim sizes to choose from - so that lead me to panamahatsdirect.com.
I found a hat in inventory of the quality/size/and shape I wanted. I picked the hat band from a broad selection, and but a few weeks later (the bodies in inventory still need to be finished, sweat band sewn in, liner inserted, and hat band applied). As the hat passed through the finishing stages I received emails with pics of my actual hat showing the progress. It was a nice touch. Overall I’m extremely satisfied with them. I definitely feel like I received the quality I ordered, within the time frame they outlined, and it showed up precisely as desired. The hat shipped from Ecuador to the U.S., then from FL to me.
