What do you want to see in an Unemployed Money Diary?

I'm working on doing an unemployed diary....

Curious what others would like to see/read/hear?

Obviously, the spending and bills will look different. But wondering if there's anything else to make sure to include.

Calling unemployed baddies

I think there's a few of us in the unemployed trenches.

I thought we could share some things we're doing to keep our financial heads and our stay focused on finding employment.

Here's some things I'm doing....

💰 Attending free networking events in my industry and related industries

💰 Volunteering at things related to my industry

💰 Scheduling free things with colleagues (walks in parks, free museums, etc)

💰 $5 movies at AMC for date nights

💰 Trying to meal plan, it's a work in progress

What about y'all? How y'all hanging in there?

Stop sharing TFP content - make her pockets hurt

If y'all truly want to make an impact and do things to support her kids....

Stop following her, stop posting her content here, stop paying attention to her. Ignore her. Full TFP blackout.

She posts what she does because she knows y'all will eat it up every damn time.

Y'all are creating the very thing you claim to dislike by consuming everything she says and does.

Ignore her, pay attention to the other cast and stop talking about her. She's here lurking and getting ideas for content. 👀

That's my soap box.

Eta - there's a whole sub dedicated to TFP. Perhaps y'all could post there: TFP Sub

Grocery Spending Tips & Tricks

I'm freshly unemployed and we need to make some adjustments to our food spending. 🥑🥕🥩

We use Hellofresh (dinners) and HungryRoot (lunches and breakfasts). We're looking at pausing HungryRoot and doing Costco for lunch ingredients.

We don't want to cancel our Hellofresh.

Our biggest issue is eating out because we don't have anything quick + easy on hand and it's late. Which can be 2-4 times a week.

I'm looking to be strategic. I'm not necessarily looking for beans and rice spending.

We're a two person gluten free, dairy free, no nightshades, cycle syncing household.

I know we need to use the Trader Joe's and Costco more efficiently.

Advice for 3 floors - color theory

I've been reading about 60 / 30 / 10 when it comes to color in decorating.

We live in a townhouse so we've got 3 floors, well 4 with the basement/laundry room/under stairs storage.

I'm thinking of picking a main color (for example blue) and having that be either 60 / 30 / 10 depending on the floor.

So...first floor would be 60 blue; 2nd floor would be 30 blue; 3rd floor would be 10 blue.

Does that make sense? I want cohesion without being the exact same floor to floor.

Unemployed + 1st day of period puffs

My period started this morning. Woo! Finally. I'm in the early stages of perimenopause. My cycle is changing from a predictable 28 days to an unpredictable 30-36 days. Such a joy being a woman.

I was also recently fired. Which is for the best, my boss was toxic af. I walked into some weird team dynamic bs. So good riddance.

So I'm enjoying a puff on my window seat and a tasty edible drink. Watching John Wick, remembering that nobody fucks with me, and applying for an exciting new role.

Happy Friday Ent Wives!

My tinfoil hat theory....

Beluah kills Rob Will.

My reasoning, we saw her kill his father. And that is foreshadowing that she'll kill his son too.

Her near death experience will result in her finally dealing with the liable monster that RW has become. Because of who his dad was and how his mom raised him.

She knows that her actions created RW. And it will be her actions that end RW.

Setting up the comparison that Beluah can/did/does things with her own hands instead of outsourcing murder like John Dutton.

Eta - the first death of the show was done by RW. Makes sense the last death of the season would be RW.

Honeymoon at Disneyland

We used to have Disneyland passes for years and didn't renew them after 2024. And we haven't been since 2024. Tragic really.

We're thinking of going in October for our honeymoon.

We're trying to decide how many days.

My husband is concerned that 3 days is too many days and we'll be over the parks. He suggests 2 days.

My thoughts are 3 days allow us to go early to the parks, back to the hotel for midday naps/pool, and back to the parks around sunset.

We're elder millennial DINKS. So the naps are for us. 🤣🤣

So please let vote and let us know how many days would be best.

Also feel free to suggest any couples we should Disneybound as; any special experiences; or any thing to make the most out of our Honeymoon at Disneyland.

Welp, so much for my master debt payoff plan + interested in unemployed MD?

I had a grand plan to pay off all my debt by the end of the year.

But I was terminated this week. The boss was toxic af, so I'm relieved.

However, this means my debt payoff plan is paused and will likely resume in 2027. Sucks but oh well. No harm done. Gotta move with the shifts.

It's just credit card debt. Not the worst thing ever. Easy enough to deal with.

So....I was planning to do a MD with a debt payoff update next month. But, now I'm thinking of doing an unemployed MD.

**Would there be interest in seeing an Money Diary during a week of unemployment with someone who has credit card and student loan debt???**

I got fired this week. Feeling guilty about the relief.

Food: egg sandwich and coffee brought straight to me in bed from my amazing husband. I also got some vaccines this week and dealing with the side effects.

🥚🍳🥚

I started a new job in January. Things felt off from the jump. My first day, I was told how one of the people reporting to me had wanted the job but wasn't selected. That same person left for a new opportunity, 3 months later. My boss told me, "we'll be blamed for them leaving."

Immediately, after the person left, another person on the team was hired into that role. I text my husband and said, "I think she's gonna work on pushing me out now."

And no joke, a month later, my boss sends an email that I'm not meeting expectations. Gives me 60 days to show improvement. No formal PIP with HR. My husband and I chat about it and decide to see how I feel about it at the halfway point.

Fires me after 30 days of that informal coaching email. 🙄

The immense relief I feel......indescribable. My boss was incredibly toxic, basically ignored me, didn't provide any training or resources, criticized me constantly, and never provided any direction or support.

But then I felt guilty because I need an income. I've filed unemployment. I'm updating my resume and will hit the pavement. And miraculously got a doctor's appointment this week before insurance ends.

Any words of wisdom or hype up comments appreciated. I'm 39 and feel good about my career. But I know the job market is shit and competitive right now.

Being childfree is the life for me

My husband made coffee and open face egg sandwiches this morning for breakfast. 🥚 🍳

Today, I'm gonna microdose some shrooms, smoke a joint, and color while watching Land Before Time and Emperor's New Groove.

We're DINKs (dual income no kids) and it's such a peaceful life. Weekends really make me appreciate not having children.

I'll be 40 this year and I never thought adulthood could look so quiet and love filled. My husband is amazing. He's already started laundry, he's gonna prepare us lunch in a little bit, and he makes sure my water cup is always full.

Happy Saturday girlies! ✨️🌻🎠

Preparing for job loss

If you felt like your boss was preparing to fire you (or make things so awful that you quit) what preparation would you take?

Aside from get the resume ready.

Any career words of wisdom are appreciated. Unexpected job loss at nearly 40 feels very different than it did at 32. Or 22. 🙏🏼

Ooh and yes, I'd prefer to be fired so I could collect unemployment. As opposed to just quitting outright.

▲ 281 r/Coloring

For every page that I color inside the lines, I do one outside the lines.

I use both hands and just scribble like a small child.

It reminds me that I don't color for perfection. I color for release, for processing, for healing, for fun.

No matter the reason you color, you're an artist creating masterpieces.

Happy coloring!
