Need a Room to Rent Early September: Income 3075

Hey y’all! So I’m in a bit of a bind here. My previous roommate turned out to be a raging alcoholic and despite us working at a job together at a homeless shelter making $25 an hour he blew all of his money in the first week w no savings. Between us both losing work (I had 4000 in savings to pay for my living expenses through January and got a new job by march)

We were evicted and now have a ledger of over 10,000 in owed rent.

On the bright side! I got a Job with the state that will pay me stably. I am already planning on getting on a payment plan and stuff, but my job starts on September 8th and I need something before then.

I’d prefer something close to 1901 Dutton drive or stage coach (since I don’t have a car) or something along the CARTS bus route.

I looked at bracewood but I have asthma and cannot risk the mold for my health. It would be for me and my cat!

Grant Prospecting Volunteer

Hey r/grants peeps! I am an working as Catchafire Virtual volunteer. that has been contacted by 3 orgs recently. Admittedly, I have worked as a case manger, admin assistant, resource navigator, call center agent, etc.--So i have lots of related experience, however nothing SPECIFICALLY grant prospecting--Moreso ensuring grant compliance if anything.

What should i expect in the first meeting if anyone has experience doing with with non-profits through Catchafire?

Besides, Grants.gov, looking at county, state, and economic development grants, what else should I try to do?

I am prepared to offer her the professional experience I have, and I do believe that I can get something done, I want to make sure that I am racking up the hours I want.

Ultimately, I want to apply to an MSW program in about 4 years.

Looking for Remote/Virtual Volunteering Opportunities

Hey y'all so TLDR: I'm looking for any virtual volunteering opportunities while I work for Health and Human Services (Fingers crossed they reach out to me this week!) and prepare for applying to a MSW programs in a few years.

Anything related to Grant Writing, Program Development, Coordination, and Administration, Intake Services, is what I'm looking for. Any recommendation would be awesome.

I have submitted up to the limit of Catchafire Applications (though from what I've seen some other redditors that make it seem like i may be unlikely to get a response back from any.)

I've also submitted an application for being a text hotline crisis counselor since i don't have a car and would need to do online/virtual internships.

Yeah I messed up--Need advice after doing some research

So to make a long story short -- when i worked for a non profit organization I was making good money and was eligible for PSLF. I signed up for the PSLF--and then our org lost funding an I was not able to make any qualifying payments after being unemployed.

I have spent my time recently thinking about next steps, and I do think a Masters in social work is what i need (I have a bachelors in psychology) Welp--I got evicted from my apartment (alcoholic roomate who relapsed when he lost his job as well) and defaulted on my student loans in the same week. Yes I cried a lot

Currently i am with family, and working on a job interview with the health and human services department and Action behavior centers ABA therapy as a backup to try and fix the default situation.

Also--my credit is horrible (400s) -- I did end up getting medicated and undergoing therapy for things that were weighing me down, and i want to get my head above water so i can complete my masters like i planned years ago.

any help or advice is welcome.

Budget of like 750–preferably less — anything from San Marcos To Austin.

I have to be out by 7/26 before I get an eviction on my record. My credit is not great (student loans) but at the current moment that’s the only thing on there.

Me + my cat. I’m black, lgbt, and cannabis friendly

If you have a room for cheap or know somewhere please let me know. I don’t have a car, but I will uber (I work remotely)

Need something for the next year while I apply for grad school!

Dark Eyelids/ wrinkled under eyes—Product tips?

Hey Y’all—so I’ve been working on my skincare routine , and just about everything has improved except my dark eyelids and under eye wrinkles.

My eyes are pretty hooded, and my under eyes are often puffy due to allergies. The wrinkles under my eyes are quiet heavy. (I also used to get eczema flares on my eyelids before I figure out this routine. I can’t go to the doc until this summer, but I’m looking for something that’ll help in the meantime!

My current product line up is:

Brown sugar exfoliant (not often)

African Black soap lather and rinse with warm weather
A tiny bit of black rice toner
Illyoon ceramide concentrate
Vitamin e Oil
Corsx vitamin e sunscreen (50spf)
Shea butter.

Where to start for someone with prior experience in music!

I'm getting more and more interested in music production at home I'm mostly interested in what software's i should try and general equipment like microphones and stuff.

I have background in music already from singing in church, as well as playing saxophone for jazz, classical stuff, marches, etc. I used to compete as well for band and stuff, so I'm well versed in music terminology, keys, and stuff. that said, I don't have serious experience actually creating the type of music I listen to (R&B, Rap, Hip Hop).

I know I can do it -- I just need to know where to start!

Okay--so I'm gonna explain the backstory here. There is a lot of family history, drama, and trauma that goes into this so please bear with me. Any help or advice is welcome and needed. Please help me.

My mother was unofficially adopted by grandmother's sister after my grandmother was not able to care for her. The home she was adopted into was physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, abusive. She, and a close cousin were also sexually assaulted by a neighboring family member. I was informed of this by my mother in the last few years.

At the age of 18, my mother got pregnant with me by my father (deceased during COVID--their relationship was on and off for the time it lasted, but was long over by this point, ending for good some time after my sisters birth in 2004.) Similar to my grandmother, my mom was not capable of caring for me, and due to the abusive and harsh circumstances of her home, she planned to leave with me. She was convinced by the family to leave me there, as she did not know what she was doing, and would be putting me at risk. She decided to leave me there, escaping the abusive household.

During my time in the same home, I underwent the same abuse (although I do not recollect any sexual abuse, there were signs that could say to it, I do not retain many memories of my childhood. I was placed on anxiety medication and my memory is slowly returning!) Because I was unofficially adopted as well, I was not on my caretakers insurance, nor were they considered true legal guardians in the federal sense.

As such, my mother continued to claim me as a dependent on taxes (This made applying for FAFSA hard, but she did assist me with that once I was older) I was also on her insurance, however this was not stable. Some years I would be on her insurance when I would go to the doctor, and other times they would tell me that the insurance was no good. All efforts to stabilize medical care failed, as she remained mostly elusive, and my adoptive parents remained difficult to work with. The strained nature of their relationship made getting anything done on this front impossible. As a result, I have very little dental, medical, and health visits since most could not be completed since my coverage was not stable and my adoptive parents could not afford

This was not much of an issue when I was just working during high school, nor during college as I did not know how to file taxes since no one ever taught me, and I more than likely did not earn an income at this point that was a taxable amount.

Upon graduating college working in food service for a year I was struggling badly with food security, so i decided to try to get on SNAP benefits. When I attempted to create an account on my Texas benefits with my SSN--it said that an account already existed. The security questions were my mothers information, and the name on the account that i was unable to get into was hers. Even yesterday when i called SNAP, I guessed some of the information under my social security # it said "Hi, "OP's mom's name." I put in a case without an application so hopefully that's a way i can start fixing that.

At some point in the last few years she put me back on her insurance and sent me a card. I was medicated starting January 1st. I got a letter in the mail from BCBS saying that my premium had been paid this year. After some phone calls. They mentioned that there are two plans (one and under her and one under my stepfather) one was cancelled, but the other was still active....... Beyond that, my sister is also supposed to be on the insurance and she will not send a card to her for her to go to the doctor. I am fairly certain at this point that she is no longer on the insurance, or never was. I confirmed with BCBS that we were past the stage where I could be put back onto insurance, and without my sister having a member ID, there is no way to confirm that she does or does not have insurance.

The last issue is our taxes. I worked at a non-profit that paid me well as a case manager. Because of that I had a good sized return--however when I attempted to file with a cousins CPA, they requested a 1095 A tax form. My sister was filing at home and needed the same thing. My mother dragged her feet, made excuses, and blamed us for needing the document and letting her know so close to the deadline. she says she went to an office, and they had to mail it since they could not access the email address anymore. They have been putting their phones on DND, changing the subject, and deflecting. I am at my wits end. What do i do????

I'm not sure how deep this goes if at all possible since her husband worked for the government in IT so i have no clue if he is working with her on this as well (though I wouldn't be surprised. Another relevant detail that may be part of this is they have a small food truck business. Not sure if that makes a difference, but at this point I have so little faith in her. My meds are going be out in a few weeks and I need to figure out what to do about this financial stuff. This is going to happen every year until it gets straightened out.

Just report her i know, but there's one more kicker.

She has stage 4 breast cancer. Like what do i do for this. I'm only making 12 an hour right now--and considering that I'm doing fairly well, but this mess is holding me back in more ways than one. I also want to help my sister out too.
