Can you provide some basic sentences 5 words or less?
This is where I am struggling, anything more than 5 words and I feel a little lost. Also, Google Translate does not always appear to translate correctly, I have been using 'chai' as yes for months now incorrectly lol. I also noticed many Thai people do not include 'chan' as in 'I', in sentences.
Can anyone recommend sentences 5 words or less that I can use to speak to anyone, it could be a restaurant, airport, hotel, bar. I am keen on improving but recently only realised where I was going wrong.
Edit, some examples below
- Where are you from?
- What is your name?
- Have you ate?
- It is nice talking to you.
- You are funny.
Dr Phil
How is he suddenly so involved in UFOs? Was he always part of this area? I thought he was a talk show host. It seems like he's playing a role in all of this, not sure how he is connected, has anyone dug deeper into this? Would be interesting to hear if someone has discovered something.
So, what's been your unpopular opinion of the season?
It would be good to get everyone's thoughts, this is a safe place and please avoid down voting comments you disagree with, this thread is meant for that so genuine unpopular opinions please. I'll come back and add to this shortly.
- I thought this season was a bit slow but overall, it has been pretty decent. I liked how post Casa, things continued to be entertaining. Casting for Casa was very good.
- The age gap between Jasmine and Cav is still a bit weird for me, sometimes the age gap works, in this case, I just think Jasmine older than her that she respects and Cav needs someone closer to his age.
- Ope went too soon.
- All the girls were scared of Jasmine, Julia is the only one who stood up to her and the crew.
- I'm grateful for Finley as he's the real reason why Julia/Lorenzo won.
- Also, I felt most Islanders thought they were above Julia simply because of her accent. Same with the fans, it's common with British culture, it's the kind of feeling where - 'You can voice your opinion but don't overdo it because you're not really one of us', and she overstepped the mark by voicing her opinion, most people thought she shouldn't only because she's polish.
Did astrologers overhype 2026?
I remember pretty much every astrologer saying that 2026 was going to be a huge year. Not just life changing, but humanity changing. Even the big names (Steve Judd, World Astrology Report, Rick Levine etc.) were saying it would be groundbreaking and different to previous years. A lot of them were saying 2024 and 2025 were basically the buildup to this period, with these once in lifetime transits. April and July were also meant to be the biggest months I believe.
Now, I don't want to say this hasn't been an intense year but it feels like a continuation of the last few years. Since 2020 everything has felt pretty weird anyway, lots of crazy events happening in between that time.
Have astrologers just hyped this up too much? Have they got it wrong? Or am I missing something? I'm definitely not an expert in astrology, so I'd be interested to hear what other people think. It also seems like Western astrologers were the ones pushing this narrative more and the Vedic ones were not as dramatic. Obviously 2026 is not over but it was meant to be the first 6-7 months where everything would change forever, doesn't feel like it.
Koh Rong - Rainy season?
Hi all, I read in another thread that it is currently rainy season in Koh Rong. I am expecting to travel there in just over a month, will it still be rainy season then?
July 16th came and went
So what’s the next date of disappointment that we’re setting up ourselves for?
Interesting theory: Nobody cares about Aliens, will they change plans?
Nobody cares about Alien disclosure, that movie, or the Iran war anymore. Faking an Alien invasion would be a dumb move, interesting theory about them faking a sentient AI that we have lost control of, people will likely believe this if all power grids go down:
July 4th came and went
A reminder that nothing ever happens if you’re anticipating something on a specific date. We all remember July aite back in the day.
Casa boys can’t do well
It’s not their own fault, I’m sure lots of them tick a lot of boxes but it all has to do with status in the Villa and in comparison to the guys already in there, they have no status.
The exact same guys would do a lot better if they were OG contestants, just like if the OG contestants would struggle if they were Casa boys. Perhaps it works in the short term but when the girls go back to the Villa, they will always gravitate to the guys that have more of a status which the new guys will always be missing.
Some thoughts on this season and dating in society
I think this season hasn’t been great but it is quite fascinating to sit back and watch and see how relationships are forming and compare that to how dating has changed in society in the past few years.
It seems like being in a situation ship is becoming the norm, I’m not sure what people are chasing but it doesn’t seem to be a long term relationship for everyone, it seems to be the instant dopamine which of course will fade away, and when it does it seems like everyone is after that dopamine again. In some scenarios, the dopamine seems to be going back to a previous partner, even then it seems like it’ll fade away and just feels situationship.
I think we also saw this during the last season and it’s driven from the boys I must admit, and the girls seem to be just going along with it until the moment of commitment comes in. Dating has changed and relationships on Love Island appear to be changing with it. Maybe post Casa it’ll all change and people will take things seriously but I can’t see it
It’s also why I think Lorenzo/Jasmine won’t work, Aiden/Yasmine won’t work (though I doubt Yasmine wants to rekindle) and neither will Samraj/Mica. I’m going to exclude Simba/Angie as the only reason why he’s back is because Mica rejected him.
Week 3: What’s your unpopular opinion?
- Sam is probably the worst contestant ever.
- Sorry, as a guy, I think Tommy is the creepiest person I’ve seen in the Villa.
- Priya isn’t into Samraj, neither is Samraj. It’s too awkward, the conversations and body language has always felt off. Especially after Lorenzo rejected her and she literally told the man to fuck off.
- Mica doesn’t know what she wants and like Yasmin prefers having to chase, I don’t think she’s right for the show now.
- I don’t know if this is unpopular but this season is kinda boring, casting has been a bit shit.
- Samraj shouldn’t take Mica back. As a guy, I’ve seen this all my life, she goes for the nice guy, leaves him for the bad boy, realises the nice guy was the better option and goes back and he should just drop everything and take her back? Actually no, he’s better than that.
- Ellie is just trying to go viral with her screaming and shouting. She knows the formula works and is just all OTT for me.
- Casa feels like it’ll be boring at this rate.
- Fitzy is boring, he’s probably playing a game, haven’t really thought too much into it yet.
- Jasmine is growing on me, I found her annoying at first.
- Ope and Robyn should return. It will be way better than 2 random bombshells who will disappear after a few episodes.
Unpopular opinions please.
Week 2:What’s your unpopular opinion?
Ope was entertaining but his attitude last night makes me think it’s a good thing that he’s leaving.
Yasmine is the hottest girl in the Villa. She looked impeccable in that red dress. Lorenzo is the most in demand guy, they like each other, it’s going to happen. Aiden needs to move on.
I think people are confusing being able to handle strong opinionated women vs someone who’s just jarring. That’s how what is.
If any of the black women behaved like Jasmine and Priya, it would be referred as being aggressive.
Men shouldn’t really voice their opinion unless it’s against a fellow guy otherwise it’s labelled as misogynistic so just best to stay quiet. But it’ll make women feel like they’re living in their own world as real world experiences maybe very different.
I think some of the girls realise that deep down the body count thing is a sensitive topic because a lot of them have regrets in the past but still not comfortable with opening up about it, hence why it began lots of tension in the villa.
There are double standards but I’m okay with it, Love Island is a fairytale, it’s not real life.
It’s been 2 weeks and this season is okay but just feels like something is missing. There are lots of boring couples, storylines really aren’t interesting and I guess everyone is just too comfortable.
Genuine unpopular opinions please
Week 1: What’s your unpopular opinion so far?
So not too much to discuss yet tbh, week 1 is usually slow, that’s why I quite like All Stars, they just get stuck in.
Here are a few:
I don’t know why Samraj is a fan favourite so far? It could be a way to boost his confidence I guess but he’s been a little cringe for me so far, the girls don’t seem interested in him.
The hate for Aiden and George is a bit strange. Aiden is kinda cringe and George came in too confident I guess? But really they haven’t done anything wrong considering we’re just getting to know them.
Jasmine isn’t as mature as she likes to make it out to be. She just wants a bad boy to woo her.
The longer Sam stays in the worse it’ll be, this isn’t the show for the guy.
We need characters like Robyn and Ellie. Speak your mind and take some risks in there, this isn’t Friends Island.
I can’t make it out of the boys are too relaxed or kinda lazy, I think lazy, maybe a few dumpings could shake things up.
Selling a property. What to do in the short term?
Property is not in a good location and kinda rushed into buying a few years ago. I am now currently living with parents and do not think I will be moving for at least for a year. What should I do in the meantime. Can anyone help, I was thinking of the following options and preferred option 1, not sure if there are any other alternatives:
Option 1: Put money in a few different saving accounts, collect a couple of hundred a month whilst interest rates are still at this rate.
Option 2: Rush into buying another property, put it on rent? Collect the rent for around a year or so until I am ready to move.
Not sure if I have any other option but would like to know if there is.
