For background, I am a stay at home mom. I have been for 3 years. My husband told me he didn’t want to be together anymore as of April 3rd. But he’s on deployment so I won’t be able to get divorce papers out to him/he won’t be able to sign for a few months.

I keep seeing how money will get split at the date of separation so, April 3rd.

Am I allowed to spend money that his paycheck is actively going to? Our joint account. I obviously am in the process of getting a job but I wanted to know if I’m allowed access to it still? And I mean spend it on regular stuff I always spend on for me and our daughter.

Also, If I put the extra money (how I always have been) into our savings account, will it count towards us splitting the savings 50/50 or will the hard line also be April 3rd?

I’m feeling betrayed. For myself and for my daughter. My marriage has been on the rocks for a few years now. All I ever did was communicate how much I needed him to be a better partner and father. He never even did the bare minimum.

Cut to deployment. We have been in the talks about divorce but decided to table it until he returns. We have had really good communication since January. We were talking about purchasing a home in Washington where he will be stationed next and all these plans of a homestead. Early February he’s saying he loves me and misses me and my daughter and that we are his only motivation to come back home. Then most of March no internet, no communication. Comes back April 3 saying he for sure wants a divorce and he had time to think and he doesn’t want to be with me and I can’t go to Washington with him. I’m devastated for me and our daughter.

Come to find out, April 10 he’s already messaging a girl he’s never met in person though he knew of her prior. Saying he wants to build a life with her and is sending pictures of our daughter to her. This girl is eating everything up that he’s saying and most of what he’s saying is a lie. He started calling the girl on a landline from the ship instead of calling his own daughter.

How do you go from “I love you” building a life together to one month no communication to building a life with someone else? How?

He’s active duty and deployed, when he comes back he will be moving to Washington. Has anyone gone through something similar? I’m concerned with how often she will be spending time in each place. Ideally I would like to keep her as much as possible. Her dad doesn’t know how to care for her and he will have to stand duty anyways. He won’t have family over there or anyone trusted to keep our daughter for the night. He suggested his male coworker watch her through the night while he has duty and obviously that’s not happening. She’s 3 for reference!

And yes I will be speaking to a lawyer I just wanted to know if anyone has gone through something similar a similar situation and how it went. Thanks!
