Thinking about the arcs in the current anime, if they ever about to do a winds And waves arcs, I feel like they should have a new rival for these guys, around their levels, not in the sense that they need a jerk rival, but someone to challenge their ideals, like Paul was to ash.

Paul wasn't just a jerk to ash, he challenged his ideals And philosophy, but most importantly, he had the receipt and results to actually back that up, it literally wasn't the very end of the sinnoh league that Paul actually finally learn.

And I also learned that, that Paul actually did start his journey the same as ash, in that this was their 4th overall journey aswell, so he wasn't just some over pompous newbie trainer.

And now It feel like liko, roy, dot and others are now at the moment is just going through a post journey crisis, considering they did just recently stopped a big bad from taking over the world or junk like that, but also still feels like they haven't gone through much...yet.

But then again, it took ash 4.5 journeys to truly have Paul to arrive to kick him to the curb,so maybe is not THAT overdue.

Like imagine roxas pov for a sec, you were fooled that your life, and your group of friends were fake, your town is fake, and you yourself are only half fake.

Then cut to the real world, the real kids realised they were used and to make data versions of themselves to be friends with this random kid they never knew, and their genuine first thought was "hey...this not so fake guy really bond with us, and they really loved us" and after realising that guy could be real, they did not waste time to actually make him real.

And when roxas, finally comes to life again, they themselves treat him like he always was part of the gang, eventhough on their POV, this is actually the first time they actually met roxas, but to roxas, this was his friends he loved hanging out with.

I guess this is the real example of the pure light of children master of masters told us about.

One idea I always want to see for a fighting game, is to have the roster be trainer base, essentially each playable pokemon has a trainer with them, specifically from the game itself, example Charizard with Leon, Cynthia with garchomp, red with Pikachu etc.

THEN it hit me, since trainers can have more than 1 pokemon, what if said trainer also bring out one more pokemon with them acting as support for their main field pokemon, essentially extending their pokemons moveset.

For example, Cynthia will definitely have garchomp as the field pokemon, but what if her she has a support pokemon like spirtomb.

Garchomp who is normally a rushdown type character, using dragon/ground type attacks, can now do add extra moves like embargo, or spite, or curse.

Or maybe Pikachu, who is normally the quickster type, but presumably red as his trainer means, it could have a pokemon like Snorlax or Lapras as it's support partner, meaning it could have moves like protect, or blizzard now to Pikachu's moveset.

Main appeal is that it gives Alot of pokemon that probably can't make it in, like maybe their size, or body structure is not fitted for a fighting game, actually have a chance after all, small pokemon like flabebe, or big pokemon like celesteela, now all have a shot at being in the roster.

And you could have fun combos with that too, Giovanni with Nidoking and Persian, raihan with duraludon and flygon, wally with galade and altaria,

Lusamine with clefable and nihilego, N with zorark and Reshiram and so on.

Special cases I could see, is the pokemon is a legendary like Mewtwo, but I think i think you can just let them be their own trainer, maybe have mew or abra as their partner, then boom teleport can be part of mewtwo's moveset.

Would make it funny if deoxys is a playable roster, and their partner is Rayquaza...but in the sense that that Rayquaza is actually fighting deoxys, is just that the attacks meant for deoxys just unfortunately hits you instead.

Or if pokemon that may not have a trainer with them, like maybe Darkrai, simple just make an OC trainer like darkrai could a totally original trainer name saibot and have a latios as their partner, it probably even allows even help to flesh out a possible single player campaign.

Then add bonus, if you want to add a marvel vs Capcom style tag system, that means battles are now full 6v6 like the mainline games, in fighting game form.

What other playable pokemon/partner pokemon combo you would give, be it base on a trainer or just a funny add on combo to a pokemon

Before anyone say, 2 fact checks, pokemon reburst was 15 years ago...that's why I said NEW shonen manga, and 2 ) pokemon adventure is explicitly rated at a YOUNGER audience, kodomomuke, no amount of arbok slice in half is gonna argue, that the manga is basically rated E.

But also what I really love to see at a new shonen pokemon manga, what I wanted more is a pokemon story that is kin more to shonen manga like Fullmetal alchemist or spy x family, then let's say....dragon ball classic, or fist of the northstar.

Where the higher age rating is more from the heavier stories told, while still keeping the gore or fanservice aspect to the minimum.

All these rules and limits on what pokemon is or isn't, and besides obvious real rules like pokemon cannot make anything flat out 18+.

I feel like pokemon fans themselves have been making Alot of "arbitrary rules" on what pokemon should be.

Which basically boils down to "but gamefreak/TPC never done this before, therefore they never will"

And it's a specific peeve of mine, because what really is happening, is that is making their opinions disguises as "real rules" that the pokemon company themselves make public, just making conversations between pokemon fans less fun than it should be.

And the funny part is, more often than not, these ""rules"" will probably get broken eventually by the company themselves.

Examples like "ash Ketchum will never retire" "gamefreak only make remakes and main gen games" "legendaries cannot evolve" "Gamefreak will never make DLC, only full price rehash" "legends games need to only be in the past", "there needs to be a mainline title every year"

And what makes me peeved about this, all it really does is makes conversation between pokemon fans less engaging, if you disagree, just disagree and explain...don't make it act like is actual law made by the pokemon company that is confirm and public.

The only reason is more of a peeve because I think it just ruins conversation between fans, a different opinion is now like a personal attack that one needs to clown on, rather than be a conversation starter, and this even goes to pokemon fans that actually hate the "limit" these pokemon games have, like how do you hate that pokemons games are becoming stale, while also taking offense when people actually do want to see change at the same time.

With all these trend from pokemon lately about giving Many legacy trainers a canon child, from lacey to being clay's daughter, to Drayton being draydens grandson, to ansha being dianthas daughter.

I think it be poetic that the 10th mainline game, supposedly 30th anniversary title of pokemon, this time around the new player trainers are actually or atleast implied to be the child of either red or leaf.

hypothetically, by this time the 10 year olds who played the original, would not only be old enough to already have kids...but these kid is probably 10 years old by now to start their own game.

And it wouldn't be even be far off either with the trainers default skin tone, having black and light brown hair, like either original red or the remake red and leaf.

Actually maybe from the trailer where it seemed like you are gonna live In a hotel instead of a home, and with you wearing all those travel gears likely implies you are a visitor rather than a resident, like ZA sort of way, and I think they could do that to purposely hide the trainers parent off screen this time, maybe instead of on screen mom, they are "back home" and you instead receive emails/letters from them, with the end leaving subtle signature to implying these are red or leaf.

And honestly I would welcome the challenge on the pther pokemon media to see how they would tackle this..like would the anime has to make them ash Ketchum's kid or not show them at all and just let liko and Roy do all the dirty work? Or maybe the adventures manga has to show who's the "OTHER" parent...one could say.

I don't mean, getting a spinoff pokemon game every year, but instead of a an annual mainline RPG solely by gamefreak be the "BIG" pokemon game of the year we can have spinoffs like pokemon pokopia hold the fort while gamefreak actually finally got more time to cook, like they are actually right now.

Especially after the big success of pokopia, and I feel that's largely due not only being a great pokemon game, but also being the first time in a while where a console spinoff actually has time to breath in its own time instead of competing with a mainline pokemon game that will come after, AND it being the game that actually release on the 30th anniversary pokemon year does help either Alot too.

But that also means TPC and Nintendo actually has to market these games for once..instead of leaving it in the dust..and to no one suprise...not only does sell, but is a genuine system seller of the switch 2 now.

Made me think, especially with development only going to take even longer for games to be CLOSE to being made from the switch 1 days (probably much to the denial of pokemon company investors probably) , maybe instead of solely relying on gamefreak's whole team to pump out other games, give other studios like koei tecmo, the time and spotlight to make a pokemon game of their own.

They could done similar to Zelda, while the big Zelda game by Nintendo is in the oven, every other years we could have a game like Hyrule warriors by koei, or a top down Zelda game by grezzo, or even a HD rerelease by tentalus, across the years while Nintendo EPD actually spend those time in the oven finishing their next big open world Zelda and so is the other studios, essentially tag teaming each other out.

And I think that be a great solution, where pokemon fans can atleast get ONE big pokemon game, but like... actually good ones, because their not being squeezed out by one single studio or rushed out In a span of 1 year of development. (That being said, for the love of TPC don't be like poor ilca and tell them to make/finish a DP remake in a span of yesterday, during a pandemic)

Like imagine in frieza's perspective you were just beaten to a pulp by a basically hulking green gorrila for literally two whole hours, suddenly this random dude showed up, in this weird clothing but very clearly Saiyan, just showed up, easily throw hands with said green giant, turn super Saiyan blue out of nowhere, and casually clean house with him, all within a span of 15 minutes, never elaborate further and then dip.

I could imagine Frieza just spend rest of his life, in a wild goose chase finding this Saiyan that does not technically exist, and is not like he can decipher the fusion fit either, because it technically doesn't exist in this realm as is probably a demon realm or afterworld technique, something Frieza would have no way to know.

I was about to say an alternate universe, but technically speaking almost every mainline pokemon is an alternate universe in some capacity, either different versions or just entirely new timeline all together like XY.

But one thing that is staple across every one of them even within games like legends Arceus is that all of them takes place in a solar punk style fantasy of our world.

Made me imagine what if we have an proper mainline RPG mechanics of pokemon, with this specific turnbase combat game, but in a more medieval fantasy (i know some of y'all gonna bring out pokemon conquest, but that's not what I mean), and be more akin to a final fantasy or even Xenoblade Chronicles style of world, but with Pikachu.

And maybe because of the more extra fantasy world, I think it be fun to see pokemon explore concept not really possible, like a more character arc driven story (as in the actual protagonist has an arc than just the player hero), or maybe more settings like like Valhalla or atlantis as an actual place in the games.

Something I realised now from ZA

By Giving the other 2 starters, means your starter now has both an advantage and a disadvantage pokemon to battle at the same time, it funnily balance out the 2 v 1 numbers by having one of the pokemon be a confirm faller while the other will be slightly more challenging.

and that I think is a good compromise on giving a new players who never touch a video game atleast one free win in a rival battle, and to also get said players to right away know how types work, in one single introductory battle.

And for older players who has been complaining how rivals are choosing the purposely weaker starter nowadays, but atleast with this, your rival will atleast have one confirm disadvantage pokemon your starter can't just wail so easily.

Maybe the rival can swap aces back and forth depending on the narration, like the early game the weaker to their starter is the ace to help players feel good for the first half, but by the end game at the final rival battle, they can make the one stronger than your starter the ace as a final challenge, in a "oh sweetie, I was holding back this whole time" kind of twist.

For recap, movie 21 was called "the power of us" a really unique pokemon movie, in that is movie about the mismatch group of people possible and ash Ketchum.

Cast Included, a little girl, a teenage girl who wants nothing to do with pokemon, a researcher with zero social skills, a fraud middle age uncle and grandma.

And ash Ketchum has to somehow unify them to a greater plot with zeraora, and I think it was great because unlike other companions none of them are ash's age range, so he doesn't exactly can befriend/bond them as easily like Brock, misty etc.

Made me imagine, if on a hypothetical situation where ash Ketchum return, I feel this would make the perfect premise for a "post world champ ash Ketchum"

He already peaked as a pokemon trainer, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is a pokemon master yet, as he still has things to learn to even come close to it.

And I feel like this is a great way to show it, without necessarily reseting the story like they never happened.

Ash Ketchum now a world champ suddenly end up being force to go on a journey, but with the most ragtag breakfast club crew possible..maybe with different age range just to further make bonding them alot different than his normal companions, and ash Ketchum at the start is the only actual competent trainer...granted the best trainer, but like it's like having, 5 sunkerns and a level 100 mewtwo and zero badges.

Maybe at the very most, we have a true protagonist as the actual protag of the journey, that is similar to ash from the start, the one who will do the gym challenges, have a rival, etc.

But I think for ash, it will also be fun to see ash In different scenario, because now it's HIS job to be the mediator, the mentor and the glue at the same time, man's basically have to be all might, gojo and kakashi all at once.

I don't have a thought for which region this could be held, but maybe a few years after the events of Arceus the very concept of pokemon trainers finally taking shape, essentially making this an actual canon generation 0.

Maybe when This whole trainer thing is establish someone out there invent a new kind of competition called the "pokemon league" in which trainers from all over the globe come into one place compete in to show who is the best, and making them the first ever champion.

Imagine we can see the very system, pokemon league will eventually end up, works on is actually established in real time, like the concept of gym battles, the elite four, maybe the concept of trainer etiquettes like "don't steal trainers pokemon" is firstly shown here.

All set in a victorian style age, though is the pokemon world so I could imagine Alot of vintage future tech like steam punk was the norm already, the return of apricot pokeballs, maybe even see more ancestors like the first generation of the oak family maybe.

Something I always thought if imagine the old pokemon games had an actual modern revision, not that faithful BDSP/let's go remake, but an actual revised city that actually implies that decades of time actually passed by.

And I think of saffron city because it is imply that saffron city and also celadon is based on Tokyo as a whole, and before anyone ask...the Kanto region is named after the actual real life Kanto region of Japan, which consist of multiple other prefecture AND Tokyo, for example vermillion city is confirm to be based on yokohama, which which can take an hour on a JR to commute.

Kinda made me imagine, what if at the very least 30 year pass (but before the events of pokopia), the canon popularity of Kanto, got so huge, it has a large boost in the economy happened that it become the home of the largest metropolis in pokemon.

All the modern revision of lumiouse that was going across legends ZA? yeah that is already finished maybe like decade before ZA even started.

Then we have the typical urban pokemon setting with Tokyo style culture and urbanisation, In spirit like persona 5, replace jack frost with Pikachu.

Like what if there is a mythical Pokemon based on hachiko, or maybe the fashion is inspired by the fashion of harajuku like techwear and lolita is just "casual" wear, I know this is a very "tourist" outlook of tokyo, but I guess that was also kind of like pokemon think of Paris when making ZA.
