Lethal Hits vs. +1 to Wound (MathHammer question)

Do these two bonuses have statistically the same effect?

I play Blood Angels, I always used to think of a chaplain (+1 to wound) as the offensive leader option for my death company, and Lemartes (-1 to damage) for defence. But I was playing around on UnitCrunch for fun (yes I'm fun at parties haha) and I realised that since Lemartes also gives his unit Lethal Hits, their damage output is basically identical. Weird coincidence for one defensive profile, or is it true across the board?

My thinking is Lethal Hits gives a 1/6 chance of an automatic wound, +1 to wound gives a 1/6 chance of turning a fail into a success, so they are basically the same. Does that make sense? Or is the math different somehow? If so which one is better?

Which pose is better for my Sanguinary Priest?

Two poses, chainsword pointed forward or chalice held up high?

Not sure what I prefer, he's made from the Armageddon Ancient, some spares, and a few 3D printed parts to fill out the bits I was missing.

It's all blue tacked right now so I can change it up as needed, curious what people think? I also have a cape I could add but I might save it for another project.

Vanguard Veterans changes - am I interpreting this right?

With the changes in the faction pack today, I think this means that I can either use the old Damage 1 profile (Vanguard Veteran Weapons) with all the old wargear options, or I can take the new Damage 2 profile (Master-Crafted Power Weapon) but I'm stuck with just the Heavy Bolt Pistol and one Plasma Pistol. Have I got that right? Because this is adding options but it doesn't look like it says anything about removing old ones?

Sorry if this should be obvious, I'm not well versed in applying balance dataslate additions to existing datasheets.

Edit: so the consensus is I interpreted this right, thanks guys! There do seem to be a lot of people in the comments who are complaining about the "downgrade", but the old wargear is still valid. If you want storm shields or fancy pistols, all this means is you don't get the new Damage 2 profile too! At least for now. I'll reserve judgement until I see the codex when it comes out, but for my next few games at least I'm still running inferno pistols

What do we think of the new detachment?

Sorry if it's been posted already but I haven't seen it in this subreddit, curious to know what my fellow Sons of Sanguinius think.

Personally I think it's got potential, but [ignore this whole paragraph, see my edits] I'm disappointed that the detachment rule wouldn't work in melee with rapid ingress followed by a charge. Rerolling 1's for only one turn, when we already have Oath (for now) on our target of choice, and it won't help death company. Still, some decent strategems and at least one good enhancement.

I think I need to find the right thing to combo it with before I'm tempted away from our 3DP options. What would you guys use it with?

Edit: I'm a complete idiot, and somehow missed the fact that it works on ANY charge move, not just on a turn in which you made an ingress move. So it works on rapid ingress and goes off on multiple turns, that's so much better than my original dumbass interpretation!

Edit 2: Having processed my initial idiocy I've realised this is actually a pretty good detachment, might go well with stormlance or maybe legacy + speartip. I was half tempted to delete this post in shame for misunderstanding the detachment rule so badly, but maybe others can learn from my mistakes!

Does this read well enough as a chaplain?

Basically the title. I had some spare parts from the Armageddon box, stuck them together very roughly just to get a feeling for how it might look, but I'm not convinced. Would this work/look okay?

I know I've probably hit the minimum requirements to read as a chaplain, he has a crozius, absolver bolt pistol, and skull helmet, but the body really isn't doing it for me. Can chaplains have normal breastplates or are the ribbed style ones a must?

I don't really have any other bodies in my collection that I could use, everything else is assembled. I didn't really need an ancient so I thought this might work, but I'm really not confident about this one. Maybe he just needs a better pose?

Thoughts? Any help would be appreciated!

Vanguard Veterans jump packs - what do you guys think?

The Armageddon van vets are obviously lacking some flair, I want to spruce mine up with some better jump packs but I don't want to give them wings, I'd rather keep that to just my Sanguinary Guard. Best I could find is these from Greytide, but I'm not a fan of number 3 as the odd one out with its wings and most of the rest seem very death company coded. What would you guys do?

I'm torn between ordering 5 of the first option as the least death company one, maybe cutting off the iron halos for lore accuracy (might leave the sergeant on), or I could just paint them with a red and gold scheme and ignore all the X's? Am I overthinking this?

Show me your Sanguinary Priest Armageddon kitbashes!

I've heard a lot of people are kitbashing the Armageddon librarian or ancient into Sanguinary Priests, I'm thinking of doing the same but need a little inspiration - how are you guys doing it?

I'm leaning towards using the ancient as I might still want to the librarian, and there's a lot of horned skulls to scrape off, but his body seems a bit bare. What's the best way to give it some drip? Got any good examples of the backpack/arm computer/drip?

Are sticky objective units less useful in 11th?

My go-to strategy in 10th for most games was to sticky my home objective with a unit of intercessors, then move forward as soon as uppy-downy or deep strike was no longer a threat. I would try but I'd rarely manage to sticky a mid-board objective, even in matches where it was safe to move off the home objective in turn 1 or 2.

But with the number of primary missions that exclude your home objective from scoring (outside of Take and Hold of course), stickying your home objective is irrelevant a lot of the time.

The enemy can still score your home though even if you can't, so without their own home scoring they are more motivated to push further forward, and sticky does nothing to defend against this, just walking onto a stickyed home objective with 1 OC is enough to take it. It needs screening or defending rather than stickying most of the time.

Do we just need to adapt our strategies to the new edition, and try to sticky expansion objectives more? Or is it worth just ditching sticky units entirely in favour of something else?

Do you think we will see more tanky backfield units holding the home objective to prevent enemy scoring? (Heavy intercessors might finally be good!)

My first Armageddon mini! (WIP)

I'm probably the 100th person to post the firstborn/primaris jump chaplain combo kitbash, but I'm pretty happy with how it fitted together! It's nice to actually get a little blood angels drip on there, since we don't get any in the box! Not sure if I should swap the head to the new one though, what do you guys think?

Have I been using the wrong paint all this time?!?!? FFFFFFFFFUUUUU-!!!

Was running low on nuln oil so bought some more while I was in my FLGS, compared the two when I got home and realized my old paint pot was a GLOSS VERSION!! Have I been using the wrong paint all this time??

No wonder all my models come out looking way too shiny compared to the guides I looked at! I just thought I was applying too much of it!

Edit: apparently I have a very old bottle that's now out of production, I only started 40k last year, picked the first one up years ago to paint some custom D&D minis I had made. Oh well!

How kitbash-able are push fit models?

Thinking of pre-ordering the Armageddon box for the space marines, but I definitely don't need 10 more intercessors, and really I would want to run the vanguard vets with either storm shields or inferno pistols (assuming the new datasheet allows it when the full one comes out)

How feasible is swapping the wargear out on push fit models?

Cutting off a hand and adding a different pistol or a shield sounds fairly simple, but I haven't done much kitbashing and I don't have any push fit models. Is this too much work?
