I’m not an ex Muslim but I do know that you guys will be the most familiar with these topics. Evolution with sources is an option too.

I want to be clear upfront — this isn’t an attack on Muslims as people. This is an honest examination of whether the Quran holds up to scrutiny on its own terms. Sources are provided for every claim.

1. The Islamic Dilemma

The Quran repeatedly affirms the Torah and Gospel as divine revelation. Surah 3:3 says Allah revealed the Torah and Gospel. Surah 5:68 tells the People of the Book to uphold them. Surah 10:94 tells Muhammad’s contemporaries to consult the existing scriptures if in doubt.

This creates an inescapable dilemma regarding the alleged corruption of the Bible:

If the Bible was corrupted BEFORE the Quran — then the Quran is affirming and telling people to consult a corrupted book. That makes Allah either ignorant or deceptive. Either way Islam is false.

If the Bible was corrupted AFTER the Quran — then we have manuscript evidence predating and postdating Islam showing the Bible hasn’t changed. The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in 1947, were a thousand years earlier than the oldest previously known manuscript and proved to be word for word identical with our standard Hebrew Bible in more than 95% of the text.  Dating from the 3rd century BCE to the 1st century CE, they are the oldest surviving manuscripts of entire books of the Hebrew Bible  — predating Muhammad by over 600 years. So the corruption never happened, the Bible is reliable, and it contradicts Islam on the nature of Jesus, his crucifixion, and salvation. Either way Islam is false.

There is no third option. Every escape route closes another door. After 1400 years Islam has never produced a single manuscript showing what the uncorrupted Bible looked like. “Corruption happened” is not an argument, it’s an unfalsifiable assertion.

2. The Quran Misunderstands Christianity

Surah 5:116 has Allah asking Jesus on the Day of Judgment whether he told people to worship him and his mother Mary as gods. This is a direct straw man — no mainstream Christian church has ever taught worship of Mary as a goddess.

The Collyridians were an early Christian heretical movement in pre-Islamic Arabia whose adherents apparently worshipped the Virgin Mary as a goddess, offering little cakes or bread rolls to her.  It was such a local Arabian phenomenon that it never reached the level to generate a universal controversy  — meaning it was a fringe local sect, not mainstream Christianity.

Collyridianism was popular in pre-Islamic Arabia in the 300s–500s AD and it is likely the reason the Quran wrongly assumes that Christians considered Mary to be part of the Trinity. 

An all-knowing God would know what mainstream Christians actually believed. A 7th century Arabian man with limited secondhand exposure to fringe local sects would make exactly this mistake. The Quran isn’t correcting Christianity — it’s correcting a version of Christianity that mainstream Christians never held.

3. False Scientific Claims

Muslims frequently cite the Quran’s scientific miracles as proof of divine authorship. But the Quran contains clear scientific errors that perfectly mirror the flawed human knowledge of 7th century Arabia.

Surah 86:6-7 states that the reproductive fluid comes from “between the backbone and the ribs.” This is anatomically wrong — sperm is produced in the testes. The writings of Aristotle, Hippocrates, Galen and others described these things long before the Quran, and the Quran appears to repeat not only the accuracies of Greek ideas but their inaccuracies also. 

When confronted with this, modern Muslim apologists argue the word tara’ib means the pelvic region rather than the ribs. But Muslim scholars, translators and commentators unanimously interpreted it as the chest and rib area for over 1300 years. The pelvic reinterpretation only appeared after modern science proved the original reading embarrassing. If the correct interpretation was always “pelvis,” where is the pre-modern scholar who said so? Either produce one, or admit the reinterpretation is modern and motivated. If the Quran requires modern science to correctly understand it after 1400 years, that’s not divine revelation, that’s damage control.

This pattern repeats across most Quranic miracle claims — verses are removed from their historical context and reframed as forecasts of modern scientific discoveries, even though no Islamic scripture nor Muhammad himself claimed to predict modern discoveries about the natural world.  That’s not miracle confirmation, that’s retrofitting.

4. The Preservation Problem

The Quran claims in Surah 15:9 that Allah will personally preserve it. Yet the evidence from Islam’s own sources tells a different story.

Less than twenty years after Muhammad’s death, Muslims from different regions were reciting different Qurans. Hudhaifa ibn al-Yaman panicked at the sight of believers arguing over which Quran was correct and rushed to Caliph Uthman, who then ordered all other Quranic materials, whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, be burnt. (Sahih al-Bukhari 6:61:510) 

Ibn Masud, one of Muhammad’s closest companions, rejected Uthman’s recension, claimed his own collection was superior, and advised Muslims not to surrender their copies. His Quran reportedly lacked Surah 1 (al-Fatiha) and Surahs 113–114.  Muhammad himself had commanded Muslims to learn the Quran from Ibn Masud — listing him first among the top four teachers. 

The Sanaa Palimpsest, discovered in Yemen in 1972, contains an earlier Quran erased and overwritten with the standard Uthmanic text, preserving variant readings and different surah orders — physical evidence of rival Qurans that Uthman tried to erase. 

The claim in 15:9 is absolute — not “mostly preserved.” If Allah guaranteed preservation, why did a caliph need to enforce it with fire?

Conclusion

Each of these arguments stands independently. Together they paint a consistent picture — a book that reflects the theological blind spots, scientific limitations, and historical context of 7th century Arabia rather than the words of an omniscient God. If you can address all four with historical evidence rather than theological assertion, I’m genuinely open to hearing it.

TL;DR: The Quran affirms the Bible then claims it was corrupted — but if corrupted before Islam, Allah endorsed a corrupt book; if after Islam, the Dead Sea Scrolls prove it never changed. The Quran also misidentifies mainstream Christian belief about Mary based on a fringe local heresy, repeats 7th century Greek medical errors word for word, and had its own manuscripts burned and replaced within 20 years of Muhammad’s death — all directly contradicting its own claim of divine preservation.

Many of you are presumably familiar with the Islamic dilemma. using the verses talking about how the Bible (or injeel) can be trusted and not. The verses that say it can be trusted;

Surah 3:3 — “He has sent down upon you the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.”
• Surah 5:46 — “And We sent Jesus son of Mary confirming the Torah before him, and We gave him the Gospel containing guidance and light.”
• Surah 5:68 — “Say O People of the Scripture, you are not standing on anything until you uphold the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.”
• Surah 10:94 — “If you are in doubt about what We have revealed to you, ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you.”

But it’s also not trustworthy as it contradicts. I want to focus on where it says the Bible is corrupted. In Al-Baqarah 2:79 it says “woe to you who distort the scripture with their own hands” use citations to see why the scripture it is referring to is the bible/injeel and Torah.

BUT in Al-Baqarah 18:27 it says “Recite what has been revealed to you from the Book of your Lord. None can change His Words, nor can you find any refuge besides Him.”

If the Bible is the book of your lord (again see citations above) then how was it changed? To distort or corrupt is to change something.

I’m sorry if this has been seen online before but I did come up with this independently.

I’ve done research on the hellfire and it sounds evil and Allah is downright evil for it. But what if it’s true. Can anyone concrete disprove it this is a genuine worry.

I’ve realised the Islam hell just seems like an intelligent design for torturing souls and hurting people. It’s like someone went “what would be the worst thing imaginable!” And put it into a concept.

Jesus was a Christian but first he was a Jew, right? If I became a Jew (converted to Judaism) hypothetically, would my soul be destroyed? (I’m an Anihilationist so that’s why I said destroyed)

So reading Bible and I come across genesis 3:16 “and to the woman he said, I will make your pains in childbirth very severe, with painful Labor you will give birth to your children. Your desire will be for your husband, he will rule over you” this is genuinely making me consider leaving the faith this sickens me so much.
