How did you guys feel the first couple of days after starting?

I got my rx today (pills) and have to work tomorrow and Thursday but then I have a few days off in a row.

I am anxious to get started but I’m wondering if it would be better to wait in case I feel a little funky! I know everyone is different but was just hoping a few could chime in with how you felt!

Do you have a set schedule or does it change each week? Would you be upset about a set schedule changing?

We have the same schedule every week. I worked the same days for a little less than a year until a new hire came in, he got my days and I ended up with new schedule, 5 days instead of three and less money bc of the shifts. It literally cut my paycheck in half. No one else got a schedule change, he could only work the days I had so he got those. It was still more money and less hours I had gotten at my previous job, so I sucked it up.

After six months he left and I got my old schedule back. They were planning on giving the new hire his schedule, but I asked if I could have it since I worked those days before. It wasn’t an issue, so I went back to working less days and making more money. Six months after that, a server needed her schedule changed and they swapped one of my days again. It’s a slower shift than the one I had so less money. Half as much as what I made with the other shift bc it went to a week day morning instead of weekend evening. I’ve had this schedule for about a year.

We have someone leaving next week, and a second person leaving in three weeks and I’m just worried I’m going to end up with more days and less money again, or the same amount of days, but slower shifts.

We have five servers. Out of the five of us, two can only work specific days bc of second jobs, and they aren’t the ones leaving.. so they will keep their days and it will my schedule that changes based on what the two new hires can do.

Am I justified in feeling some type of way? Or do I just need to suck it up. I really do love the job. The money is really good (with the schedule I have now anyway), I like knowing what days I have every week. It’s walking distance from my apartment. They feed us every shift. I have a work buddy, and whenever one of us has something going on, which is rare for us, we will cover for each other or swap and work it out between us, so I don’t have to request days off through a manager. As long as the shift is covered, they don’t care who comes in. They give us gifts for Mother’s Day if we work, bottles of wine on Valentine’s Day, Christmas gifts and money for Chinese new year. My tip out is one percent.

It’s a pretty sweet deal at the moment but last time with a schedule change, I went from working three days to working five and bringing home half as much money. I really don’t want to have to deal with that again. I

Which episode of the X Files traumatized you as a kid?

Mine was the episode where people who were abducted had these small marks on their bodies. I just so happened to notice a mole in my armpit that looked really similar the same night I watched that episode and legit freaked out.

I remember jumping out of the tub, running to my dad and just sobbing 😂 must have been about 5 at the time.

Still can’t watch that show with the lights off.

Just found the show and watched ep1. 10/10

I was feeling a little nostalgic today bc this is about the time of year I would be out of school and spending the summer with my grandmothers and getting caught up on all the soaps.

One watched General Hospital and One Life to Live and the other watched All My Children and Days of Our Lives. 20-30 years ago my summers were filled with these and spending time with my grandmas. Little 10 year old me was enthralled with all the drama and after school started back, I’d come home and turn the tv on and try and catch as much as I could. My Nanny would save her Soap Opera Digest for me and I’d devour it, trying to keep up with everything. Can’t imagine there were many kids in elementary school dying to get their hands on those lol!

I was hunting around today for old clips and Beyond the Gates came up, so of course I jumped on it. Absolutely loved episode 1! I have a LOT of catching up to do but it will be fun to binge and much as I can until I’m all caught up.

The wardrobe in ep1 is so good! I’m over googling outfits trying to find a dupe even tho I live in sweats lol. Very much looking forward to this group!

Got a $75 tip today on a $25 check.

Friday I was left $100 cash tip on a $100 check, and Friday before I got $55 on $80. Both of those were from the same person! They’ve been coming in regularly and are so nice!

Today was the first time I’ve served the guy who left me $75. Today was a bit slow and I’d only made about half of what I usually do, so it was such a nice surprise.

I hope my luck keeps up through my shift Friday lol.
