Return to first game.

I recently got ahold of the remastered version. I played the original around launch. And wow. It is rough. It is not a bad game but FW has so many quality of life things that just, keeps jabbing me in the ribs. The mostly linerar climbing. The lack of the shieldwing. The cost of fast travel. The lack of weapon variaty. The slow movement of focus mode. Not tagging part.

But one thing I noticed was Erend. His introduction is such a cool portrail of his character. He is an orater, calming the Nora audince, as an outsider. He is the vanguard of the Sun-king. In the second game, he is a brawler and a drunk. The one time we get to see is orater side is when he convinces the guards to let Aloy through. I feel they diminished him in FW.

Now its been a hot minute and a few years since I played through both game, so maybe I forgot a pivotal character moment. But they seemed to have made him more passive and ineffective in FW.

Nonetheless I am looking forward to me playthrough of ZD and FW back to back.

Momster of the week

Is the system suitable for a Supernatural style monster of the week campaign?

Alot of paths have roots that makes being very mobile difficult right?

Any tips or warnings are welcome.

Stupid challenge

There is a reason I put the Humpr flair on this.

The No Demo challenge. You are not allowed to demolish buildings. Once a building has begun construction you cannot demolish it. You can pause, place the foundation and then delete it. But once its even 1% built, it stays.

Things that you can demolish are, roads, tree, bushes, natural blockage, natural dams, natural ramps. Basically anything you didnt place yourself and roads. But if you want hard mode, riads are also off limit.

No mods that let you replace platforms or similar shouldnt be used to keep the spirit of the challenge.

Organic arkships?

Will there be organic arkships in the future? Go full tyranid hive fleet. It looks kinda silly having a swarm of bio ships and a fully mechanical arkship next to each other.

Should I?

I have been a hardcore casual. Not venturing too far from the easy maps and rarely playing outside easy.

I like the chill vibe of the game and not losing. Timbrrborn is a bit of a comfort game.

But I feel I am missing out in pushing it to what the game can be.

So should I try for a Hard playthrough, and if so which map is either the best entry level or the biggest kick in tve chestnuts?

Buff this: A thought experiment

I am really happy it actually fostered some postive disscuion about the RR being hypotetically nerfed.

Lets talk about it again. But this time lets buff it.

Again, to cover my backside, I am not saying it needs a buff. But if you could buff it, no monkey paw just pure wishlist stufff. How would you see it buffed?

One topic that came up in the prevoius post was team reload from shooters backpack. Is there anything else?

Nerf this: A thought experiment.

I will lead off with I think the RR is the perfect antitank support weapon and needs neither buffs nor nerfs.

But, as a thought experiment, how would you nerf it?

Maybe the alteted ammo only counts after you reload?

Or it doesn't have a retical so you hace to use FPV(similar to AMR) meaning you give up a bit of spatial awareness with the bulky module blocking your right side.

Again, I am not advocating for a nerf! I think its good as a community to look at things and how they could be different.

Weapon mod for the Trident

Focused lenes.

Instead of it shooting 6 wildly spread out beams it shoot 3 more focused beam.

Pro. More accurecy over long distance. Letting you shoot weakspots.

Con. Less beams means less overall damage.

AH has talked about how they are reluctent to add more qeapon customaztion because too few people use it. But the catch 22 becomes there simply arent enough intresting things to customzie with.

What kind of (reasonable) customations would you like to see on primaries?

Pardon my terrible spelling.

Flooding, a new season.

A lot of (ok a few) have been wishing for a new season. So modders, free idea. Flooding blocks. The work like badtide drains except they produce clean water during flooding season. Often place in inconvinent locations, which is to say they either flood durectly into the settlements starting location or the vastly increase the flow of water in normal channels.

Thought and feeling?

Overthinker or overtalker

Which would you have at your table?

The player that overthinks their turn, taking 15+ mimutes to make a move. Often going back because they reliazed they did a move wrong.

Or

The player who talks and talk and talk. Not related to the game. Often forgets its their turn, how the rules work.

So which is the lesser of two 'evils'?

A nobodies wishlist for progression

Everyone talking about progressing the GW and MO and on and on.

I am aware I am a voice of one, in a space peole have followings of hundred of thousands.

So progression I wish to see is in-game achivments. And the final achivment in a chain comes with a titel to it. Stuff like kill 100/500/2000/10000 Hulks. Getting the final one gets you Hulk exterminator (or something cooler). Same with weapons. Kill enough enemies with a Liberator, you can say you are a Liberator Expert.

And silly stuff like, plant the one true flag on a hulk, charger and flesh mob. Spreading democracy achivment unlocked.

Or hardcore achivments like clear a Commando mission solo on D10 without raising the alarm.

It could breath new life into the game. Without costing too much devolopment time and effort away from the (much) needed fixes.

But again, one voice among thousands.

Modding, where to start?

I wanna try my hands at modmaking. Nothing that involves buildings, instead a new wellbeing status. How and where should I start?

The Crossbow

The do it all primary, the crossbow.

I want to ask a simple but seemingly dangerous question.

How would you nerf it?

Its current weakmesses is you can't use it in close range due to it exploding and its sort of limited ammo with its capacity of 5 and 8 spare mags giving a total of 45 total bolts.

My suggestion would be to reduce the damage the arrow does from 270 damage to maybe like 100. And make the arrow itself have light pen. Keeping the explosive the same. Which is a 350 damage with medium pen.

But how would you nerf it?

Edit: People keep missing my point so I will state it clearer. Im not saying Nerf the crossbow. Im saying, as a thoughtexperiment and as a pretend Game Dev, how would you change it? I kinda think it would be good for the community to try and just calm down about nerfs. I know, telling people to "calm down" just lights another fire under them but try as reasonable people look at your loadout abd see if there is something you think you could nerf? Just as a thought experiment.

Maybe RR altered ammo only takes effect next reload?
Quaser can be reloaded to skip the cooldown?
AMR gets a third person retical?
Cremator backpack can be hit, making it explode after 2 seconds meaning you need to drop it and book it?

I am not saying AH should impliment ANY of this. But excericse your brain and see what you can come up with.

And I am aware HD2 have other severe painpoints.

I have a racing deckbuilder Im tinkering with.

A new devolpment was Damage cards. Cards you get when someone shoots you, you can reduce the damage you take with Armor. The thing I need help with is where the cards go.

Do they go in either

Discard: You know you have Damage coming and it will clog up your hand.

Bottom of the deck: It will show up sooner rather than later and if you take alot of damage it really clogs your hand.

Top of the deck: The problem is showing up next turn. Same problem as bottom of the deck, only sooner.

Shuffled into the deck: You have no idea when it shows up, but at least its not hopefully a block of cards.

I have ideas that Damage cards can be played for a great effect but each played is removed from game, into a special zone, which once its full you explode.

And another idea for Armor to not fully negate damage bit put it in one of the less bad places.

As in unarmored damage gets put on top of the deck, armored damage in your discard.

Thoughts, feelings, prayers, feedback?
