I posted this on that other sub and got beat up. Feel better already about this community. Anyway.... my mom is 80. In full possession of her faculties, drives, manages her own affairs, goes to church, uses the internet for emails and scrabble as far as I can tell. She's never heard of reddit or the M.E.

Recent conversation with her—she raised two boys in the 70s and 80s, and bought us lots of fruit of the loom—I asked her about the logo. The only prompt i gave was "Remember, the fruit..." And she INSTANTLY said "yes,and the horn of plenty, the cornucopia".

I asked about the monopoly man. Only prompt was "he had the top hat.." Again, right away, "and the monocle"

100% how it went.

Then I explained things and her conclusion was that "Oh no, somebody is playing a trick on you"—not exactly grasping the scope of it all.

Oh, lastly.... she did NOT endorse JIFFY peanut butter. She remembers it always being JIF (as do I)

About the FOTL logo. Mom is 80. She raised two boys in the 70s and 80s. She is barely on the internet (email and scrabble) does not know about reddit, and had never heard of ME (Mandela effect i mean, of course she's heard of me lol) . I did not prime her in any way. Conversation went like this (I am paraphrasing):

"Hey, do you remember buying us FOTL?"

"Oh yeah, a ton of it."

"Do you remember the logo? The fruits...?"

"And the horn of plenty. Oh, what do they call it? Cornucopia!"

"Oh. Cool. Interesting, Mom."

We then had a conversation and she really didn't even grasp the depth of it (that the company said no, never) ands thinks that somehow one or two people have erased the image or something.

I also asked about monopoly man...

"... remember, he had a top hat..."

"Yes, and a monocle."

And lastly, fwiw, she remembers JIF peanut butter as always having been JIF.

"Oh, that's silly," she said re: JIFFY.

Idk yall but this is 100% how that went.

Only one version on the Archive and it's of good fidelity but mostly just the 3 guitars. Bill, Keith, and all the vocals are waaaaaaaaaay down in the mix most of the time although they do rise up from time to time. Wanna do some GD karaoke with me?
