CRIME: tried to eat styrofoam

TREATMENT: brief but effective ear lockering
OUTCOME: the strem relieves pressure from the (impressively boundless) space between tiny brain and skull; for a brief period cat behaves less knuckleheadishly

Throwing

Hello from the trenches! I’m a first-time dad of a lovely 18-month-old boy who is in full-on toddler mode. We love to interact and play with him and try to be the types of parents who are constantly engaged with him. We’ve had a big problem with throwing lately. He throws his toys, his books, and basically anything he can fit in his hands. My wife (who does all of the research; she’s a librarian) has said when he does this then the best move is to calmly say “no throwing” and take the toy away from him. Today he was throwing his books so I told him no throwing and took the book away. He started taking every book off of the shelf and throwing it so I said no throwing and took all of the books off of the shelf and put them in a nearby drawer so he couldn’t access them. Then he found a book I hadn’t put away and brought it over and I could tell he wanted to put it in the drawer with the others. When I didn’t do it quickly enough he threw it. That made me wonder if we’re doing something wrong. I know taking his things away isn’t a “punishment” and that he doesn’t even understand punishment yet, but it just seems to me that he doesn’t care if we take his things away because he throws them and if he doesn’t care then why would he ever stop? I’m worried that when he’s done with a toy and wants to put it away or tell us he’s done with it, we’re teaching him that throwing it will get us to put it away. My wife says we just need to stay the course and I don’t mind doing that but this has been going on for weeks and weeks and I’m getting concerned we’re doing something wrong. Anybody have any insights on getting a little thrower to stop?

"Take a Rest While the Storm is Not Above Your Head"

I remember first hearing this song I think when I was in Amsterdam in 2007. Techo/eletronica/ambient song that (I believe) started with the sound of a storm and thunder and a calm voice saying "take a rest while the storm is not above your head" or something very similar. I used to own a lot of compilation albums so it may have come from one of those—Ministry of Sound, Ibiza Chillout Sessions, Cafe Del Mar, those types of albums. Help!
