I’m in therapy and starting with a psychiatrist this week…

Is it weird that I’m nervous to be prescribed medication? I know I definitely need to see one with the issues I have. I just have a long history of family addiction, wether it be alcohol or drugs, (ofc I will be mentioning that when I attend the meeting), and I am just terrified of getting addicted to something due to that. Like it’s to the point I can only comfortably swallow Zyrtec (and it’s even hard to do that sometimes, which I do realize is yet ANOTHER point that I will need to make in the next session). I know I may likely be diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and ADHD, which I know at least one of those will pretty much have to be a swallowable pill. I’m just hoping there’s a possibility of there being an option to crush it or something to just quickly shove down with like applesauce or something (which I know could also be a health issue, in which I’m hoping to have dealt with when I get a PCP set up in a few months) 🫠

Idk, I don’t seem to know any others that have dealt with this. I’m also just really nervous overall, Idk. This is my first time being in any type of therapy since I was in late middle school, and that was just a counselor who worked with my school, and they diagnosed me with anxiety/social anxiety. I’ve only been to a few sessions with my therapist so far, and it’s all new to me. Honestly, my therapist bringing up the idea of me possibly being Bipolar was just so surprising to me. I mean it makes sense, especially with certain family members also being bipolar, but still.

Hi, going to be trying my first time at dye this week!

So, I have a family member I am gathering some marigolds from to dye clothing. Thing is, I’m ordering the powder you need to soak clothes in so the color will hold (I’m failing to remember the name at the moment, I know it starts with an S), but it won’t be here for another few days. Will they be okay to dry out a bit for a few days before I steep them for coloring? Or, alternatively, will I be able to steep them and just hold the dyed water until that powder comes in? TIA!

Tips on how to bring these Snake Plants back to life?

For context, I brought these home from work, as they were planning on throwing them away if I didn’t take them. They were doing really well for a while at my work, but I didn’t get scheduled at this location but maybe once every couple of weeks, if at all over the last like 3-5 months, and they seem to have been pretty much ignored. I’m really surprised they survived as long as they have.

I’ve already removed the dead leaves etc, watered them (soil was bone dry). Any tips on going forward? I already suspect they may be close to needing a repot soon, as they had been starting to strain the plastic pots they’re in with the new growths they had been getting before I had stopped coming to this office for a while. I’m also planning on ordering a plant mat so I can easier check the roots when I do repot them. I’m going to be placing them in my hobby room/spare bedroom window so they can get as much light as possible, as they had sat in sunlight all day at my office (our front lobby was almost entirely windows, and that’s where they sat). Also, apologies in advance if this was the wrong tag! I know they’re in the succulent family, I just wasn’t sure what to choose since they had been indoor plants their whole life. TIA!

Confused on the serving sizes

I got a couple of the two pack minute rice things you can put in the microwave (using them to meal prep for work lunch). Does it mean each little bowl contains two servings of rice? Or is the ‘container’ both bowls? I’m having a blonde moment, TIA!

Getting ready to buy some blink cameras for my apartment

Hello! I’m looking into blink cameras for my apartment, and was curious if it’s worth the extra $ to get the gen 4 over gen 3. I saw that the the 3 cameras can be not the best at nighttime viewing, which would be fine with me, as we have hallway lights, so it stays pretty well lit throughout the night. I know I plan on grabbing one for my door (I’m planning to grab the outdoor version and a renter friendly mount to place it on my door, as I’m not allowed to drill/don’t like the lack of coverage view wise), and 2-3 for inside the apartment (which I think I’m going to just get a multipack of the gen 2 mini blinks, I don’t need anything crazy for inside). I also was curious if having the newer mini ones and the older model outdoor camera would mess anything up. Also, if anyone has had any experience with the Amazon door mounts, let me know! I plan on getting a type that goes over the door itself and twists to lock onto it, that way it doesn’t damage the door to my apartment.

So basically, TLDR, trying to figure out if a Gen 3 outdoor camera would be sufficient for an apartment door that has nighttime lights down the hall, and also to know if there will be any issues having two different Gen cameras in one home/connected to one Sync Module. TIA!

Some Geese photos I figured this group may enjoy!

Already posted these to r/birds, but I thought you guys might enjoy these as well. I took them back in early-mid April while I was out with my cousin doing her maternity photos. I always love seeing them when I pass by this park.

So, I’m trying to prevent a family member from attempting to use my identity.

So, I have a cousin (who I’m obviously estranged from), who I haven’t talked to in years due to all of her and her mom/siblings issues and the trouble they’ve caused me my entire life. This specific cousin and her mom have had a track record of trying/succeeding in using our other family member’s identities on credit cards and other money loan type things in the past. I, in the past few years, have been keeping a closer eye on my credit due to this, and noticed two addresses and phone numbers on my credit when I checked with TransUnion. They obviously do not belong to me, as I’ve had the same number since I was like 12-13 (I’m in my mid 20s now), and the only other number on my report is my mothers. I was able to track the addresses back to two different motels in the area. That does track for the family member I had believed it to be, as I know she had been staying with her boyfriend in said area in a motel before I cut connection with her.

To make a long story short, said cousin and her mother likely had some way to get access to my SSN at some point, likely when my mother and I had to move in with them when I was a teen (didn’t last long, I ended up moving out within a year of it and staying with family until I graduated). Luckily, she has only been able to get a secured credit card out in my name, which obviously didn’t help much, and I was able to dispute it and get it removed. That was a couple years ago. But, as you know, I can see that she’s made several, SEVERAL inquiries through so many damn places to try and apply for credit cards and such. I’ve also gotten a ton of their rejection letters. They’ve tried Kohls, JCPenny, Belk, I believe they tried some chain jewelry store (can’t remember which one now), and many other places.

I know I can freeze my credit, which is what I did for a while when I initially found out a few years ago. I’m just curious, is there a way to prevent it better? Like a two step verification (though I guess blocking or freezing is the way to do that)? I just don’t want to have to constantly worry about if my cousin or her mom’s attempts break through and such. I know it sounds dumb, but as you can tell from what details I’ve given, I’m kind of a first generation to actually do decent for myself and not live off of fraud and shitty behaviors, so I wasn’t really taught literacy financially or otherwise, outside of what I’m teaching myself. TIA, and thanks for any answers that I may get!

EDIT: I will add that I did reverse look up the numbers, one of them does lead back to my aunt (the cousin’s mom, who also likes to do stuff like this, so no surprise), but the other number just led back to one of the motels itself.

My late mother’s writings

I have some stuff my mother wrote, I can read most of them, but I wanna get a second opinion. (Also had to mark out the last page a little because her name was on the page under it)

Also, apologies in advance, my mother was a bit of a sad soul, to put it simply.

Does anyone ever utilize mini brands for their crafting?

I have this whole container of mini brands I’ve collected over the years, and I’m stumped on what to do with them. I love the idea of using them for crafts, just not sure what to do with them. Any ideas? TIA! I also have like two styles of the shopping cart in it, as well as one of those little shelves.

Would eye gunk possibly mean pollen allergies?

Hello! I have a 11 year old Pit/Staffordshire mix, female. I’ve noticed every year around June-ish (basically mid spring) she seems to develop significantly worse eye boogers than usual, and begins to want to rub her face in grass (which would make it worse?), rub her face, etc. I’ve read a couple things on the whole pollen allergy possibility, and the only other thing I’ve noticed is that her skin on her belly does get a little red and irritated. I know I’ve read that lots of dogs in the Pitbull family can have a big chance of skin allergies, so it’s not a huge surprise to me.

I’ve also wondered about certain meat allergies due to her muzzle seeming to get puffy and red when I fed her any food with lamb in it oddly enough. And now chicken is seeming to affect her too, so my next food to try I’m guessing is going to be salmon or duck or something, in which I’m gonna try to find a somewhat affordable fresh/simple ingredient type of food to feed her, to hopefully eliminate the risk of it being an allergy to the filler stuff that’s often put in dog food.

TIA!

Odd question

Would anyone know where to find a vanity + seat like this? I’m not sure what it would be called. I was watching Bridgerton and realized I absolutely loved this design. (Had to take a photo because apparently Netflix won’t allow me to screenshot 🫠)

I actually have a waterfall style vanity/dresser thing, but the middle part sits too low to use like a vanity (so I assume it’s more of an actual dresser). I’ve been wanting an older style like this. Any info or pointers would be greatly appreciated, TIA!

How to use normal microwave option?

So, I got this Galanz 3 in 1 microwave/air fryer/convection thing, and I don’t know how to use the normal microwave options. I just want to warm up a frozen meal for lunch and I’m so lost 😂😭 anyone have one of these that can advise? TIA!

Also, if it helps, the meal I’m trying to make needs me to cook it for 4 mins, uncover and stir, re-cover, and cook again for like 30sec-1min and a half.

Help explain?

So, I took advice from other posts and checked the address of the apartment I’m moving to so I can see what internet providers are available. What does this list mean?

From what I’ve gathered, my only options are Xfinity or AT&T air, as GFiber and AT&T fiber aren’t available in that area yet. I’m using Spectrum in my current place but it doesn’t seem to be available where I’m moving, otherwise I’d keep it. If it helps, I’m moving a bit north of Nashville TN!
