Help with Beans

I am mostly plant based and also T2 diabetes. Beans and lentils have been my go to for the last three years and I have 10s if not 100s of pounds of dry legumes. I recently got a trial CGM to test what foods spike me and beans are certainly one of them. I have tried just a .5 cup serving (so hard to eat that tiny amount) and still see a significantly increased glucose reading. Tried cooling the beans overnight in fridge to increase resistant starch, which doesn't appear to work for me, Anyone here also T2 and found a solution? Without the legumes, it's going to be hard for me to stay plant based.

Insurance and Workmans Comp

Reddit suggested this sub if wrong please delete.

So I'm looking to hire a company to have a few rotting boards replaced on the exterior of our house. Several of the companies that are coming to give me estimates say they have guys they hire to do the work. I insist on the company having insurance and workmans comp. Which company should I get the insurance and workmans comp info from to verify? The company giving me the estimate or "the guys" doing the work? Seems like it should be "the guys" doing the work. Just looking to protect myself.

Advice for Trying Metformin Again

Background: T2 for maybe 10 years now. Tried metformin first and it literally turned me into a zombie. I had no energy. Couldn't walk from the parking lot into the office without stopping twice and it was less than a .25 mile walk. I was fairly successful at managing with diet and exercise until the last two years when I lost my job and have been unemployed due to ageism. My pcp put me on saxasomething and I had an allergic reaction to it. She said I wasn't taking my medication and started me on insulin. Got an endo appt with a new endo in 10 days. I want to have a plan to propose as my goal is to get off the insulin. Wondering if I could try Metformin again and see if I still turn into a zombie. I think 500 mg is the smallest dose? could the pills be cut in half and slowly increase the dosage to hopefully avoid the issues I had the first time? I've also tried Trulicity and had the explosive diarrhea which a lot of people experience and Jardiance, but can't remember why I couldn't take that med.

Cuisinart 14 Food Processor

I posted a while back looking for recommendations for a food processor as my Kitchen Aid needs replaced. A lot of people suggested the Cuisinart 14 cup processor. I've been reading a lot of reviews and from what I've read, I am having doubts. So I have a couple specific questions. One of the main uses I have for the processor is making nut butters, like peanut butter. My kitchen aid made great PB but I think the blades are getting dull. From at least one review that I read, this processor does not make butters very well due to how the blades are assembled? So looking to see if any one uses one of the NEWER Cuisinart processors to make peanut butter and how well it works.

My Perspective of sensor location

I received a replacement for the Libre 3 sensor which has been as much as 100% off from blood test. I decided to try a different location and went with the stomach. The sensor was given 24 hours to soak before connecting to an app. Both sensors are currently in use with the original attached to the back of the arm. Now I'm remembering that the original Libre 3 sensor is wacky. I found the stomach location to be as much as 15 pts higher, which is a lot closer to the actual blood test value. I've also seen the stomach location to be 10 pts lower than the original which makes it considerably less than the blood value. Overall, I find the new sensor to be much better in relation to the blood value than the original sensor. Just not sure if it's due to the original sensor being "wacky" or the new location of the sensor on the stomach. I do not have much fat on the back of my arms.

Libre by Abbott vs Libre 3 App

I had one Libre 3 sensor to use and paired it with the Libre 3 app which as a software engineer I found totally dismal. (Like for realz Abbott? DO BETTER) Someone suggested the Libre by Abbott app is better. I tried searching on the differences between the two apps but only found the reviews on the Google store about what people don't like. I'm getting a replacement sensor due to readings being 50% different at times so I'll have another opportunity to use a CGM. For those of you that have used both apps, which one is better and why? Things that bug me about the Libre 3 app include: not being able to access notes on the daily graphs (WHY HAVE THE NOTE ICON AT THE TOP OF THE CHART THEN?), scale of the graphs is useless, not being able to zoom in on a time/range. I know about the LinkUp app, but no access to the notes or historical data. Seriously Abbott, you are totally missing the mark. Ever used your own products before?

Three vastly different finger prick test results

Yesterday my Libre 3 sensor showed me going low, and when it got into the 60s, I decided it was time for a finger prick. The finger prick came in at 174. I knew that couldn't be right, so I tested again within maybe 30 seconds, which read 122. Deciding I wanted a third test to see which was right, that test came back at 74. Anyone else see this drastic differences in tests within a minute or two. I know that the same drop of blood can report differences in 10pts but 174>122>74 is not 10 pts. Hard to know how to dose based on those numbers.

Late Evening Rise in Glucose

Just started using a CGM again. I'm sort of jumping the gun but does anyone see a steady increase in glucose in the late evening starting around 8-9PM and then peaking in early AM and steady decling through the early hours? Interesting thing is I didn't see any evidence of dawn phenomena which I typically have seen in the past. I did eat .2 of an ounce of dark chocolate around 8:30, but I'm talking raising the level by 45 pts at least? I can't see 3g of carb doing that to me. The obvious answer is to not eat the chocolate tonight and see what happens.

Accessing Events on Daily Graph

Just started using the app for Libre 3 plus. Looking in the reports> Daily Graph, how do you access the notes/events at the top of the graph that user entered, aka Meals, Exercise, etc

30pt Diff between libre 3 sensor and blood test

I haven't used a cgm in several years. I bought one sensor to check the regular foods that I have been eating. I took a reading from the sensor which read 142. The blood test read 174!! I remember that the sensor measures off fatty tissue and not blood so there should be a difference between that reading and the blood, but 30 pts? I'm certainly not going to be dosing off the libre 3 sensor.

Help Pairing Sensor

I had an old FreeStyle 14 Day Reader that I was going to start using again. The battery would not hold a charge and customer service sent me a complimentary reader. I attached the sensor to my arm and tried to scan the sensor with the reader. Keep receiving the error Scan Timeout. I have waited the suggested hour for the sensor and tried again but still receiving the error. THe reader arrived with a completely dead battery. Would charging the battery longer before trying again help? I wouldn't think so but who knows.

FYI its a libre 3 sensor

Country Crock Vegan Butter Alternative

Country Crock vegan butter sticks are not being stocked any longer at the the three grocery stores I go to. Country Crock did serious shrinkflation on the tub butter and I'm done with them. What other brand are people using?

EDIT: Just got back from grocery shopping and saw the CC olive oil sticks again. Must have gotten enough complaints/requests to start restocking. I looked for other vegan butter sticks but only saw one or two tubs of alternatives. I'll just wait for the CC sticks to go on sale and stock up. Would prefer the avocado but I'll take what I can get. :)

Finally Good Numbers

So last week I ditched another diabetes med, sax<something>, due to side effect. I had been on it for maybe 3 weeks. My HbA1c was terrible last month and started a med for first time in years. I have been stress eating and got that under control. The last two mornings my glucose has been 137! and I know a lot of you are saying that's way too high, but for me, that's way good. Not sure what I've done that's making this large of an impact, but I've cut out bread, started doing AC vinegar, added allulose to meals and been doing the 14-16 hour fasting daily. Every day is goes a little lower and hoping that I'll see 120s tomorrow or thursday.

First Inflatable Recs

I've done some homework and read posts. My son is wanting an inflatable singe person kayak. So it looks like what I really want is the Sea Eagle 393rl. Two years of being unemployed is not going to allow that. So, looking for a solid second choice. I've read reviews about the Intex models and they sound like something I want to stay away from. Mostly will be used in small streams with slow to medium currents. Anyone have a success story with such a watercraft?

First Fishy Shou

I've offered people various different types of shou and most of them can't get passed the "fishy" smell which to me doesn't smell like fish at all. Those that get past the smell say that the tea tastes fishy. Again doesn't taste fishy. I'm not giving these people low quality shou either. However, I grabbed a mini from W2T shoulloween bag and boom. Fishy taste, not so much smell. I haven't had a bad tea from W2T and wouldn't consider one mini in a pound being bad but just interesting after 15 years of drinking shou it happened.
