Has anybody got tips on tightening up these end links?

Has anyone got the hot tip for tightening up these end links?

Picked this beauty up for a song, but the spare 20mm I managed to squeeze in there absolutely does not suit. I was thinking a nice glossy black lizard grain, but I always see such great suggestions here that I thought I'd ask.
